Second Weddings

Ok ladies - let's see the gown!

Recent posts have discussed various aspects of the wedding gown and we all seem to be going for such a variety of styles/types of weddings that I'd love to see either the gown you've got, have ordered, or are leaning toward at this point!

Here is mine. It should arrive in late June or early July.  (I ordered in Feb)   It's a Maggie Sottero.  I am having short. fluttery off the shoulder sleeves added to it (I hate my upper arms), will be wearing opera length black gloves, and will have a very full black full length petticoat under it.

I don't feel like this picture does my gown justice, but then again when the consultant showed it to me, I thought....Ugh and just tried it on to please her.  Then ended up loving it!!!

I have 2 and will probably wear the Michelle Roth as it is more like my venue (vintage). I love the Pronovias also but...not sure.

This is the one... it has everything I wanted -- lace-up back, beading on the bodice, and a sweep train.

I wore this:  off the rack Calvin Klein.  My BMs (daughters + stepdaughters) wore the same dress knee-length in eggplant purple.

Lovely dresses/gowns ladies... I'm undecided and am waiting until next week to start the hunt in earnest for my wedding next year. I have a few designers that I love.

KRN the chocker would look awesome!  Everyone's dresses are so cool!  Makes mine seem a little off...  any way here it is, I ordered it in ivory. It also was exactly what I wanted for the second trip!  Going to be dyeing the satin ribbon navy!

Thank you NJ. All of these dresses are amazing!!!! We have good taste!!! No Jackie you still have time but make it a priority, some dresses can take 12 weeks if you have to order then a few weeks to alter if needed.

Here is mine, I also have a short sleeve bolero I am wearing over it for the ceremony so my priest doesn't have a heart attack.  It is Bonny Bridal style 1902.

Hey Ladies... I am not crazy but I am walking down the isle in a purple dupioni silk dress... lol... it is a mix of a Maggie Sottero (loved the color) and Amalia Carrera (loved the dress, not the color)... I am going to have my bridesmaids wear lighter shades of purple and silver.

Wow, you guys all have such varied and great taste!  Love the purple idea.  Wandering off now to check out Calvin Klein online.

This is the dress I chose for our Cabo Mexico beach wedding to be held on October 1st. It combined all of the facets I loved about having a romantic/sexy beach wedding, yet I still feel like a bride.

I never even imagined this would be the style that looked best on me.  Problem was I couldn't find anything I liked in this style. I looked at hundreds of dresses online and finally narrowed it down to three and then saw this one and fell in love with it.

I really like the choices everyone has made!  Not a one of these is ugly (and yes, I've seen some UGLY gowns posted)!

I'm a real fan of adding colour to the gown and am glad to see others are, as well!

Omg that purple is to die for!!!!! Glad to see so many ladies going for what THEY want, not what others think they SHOULD wear. I've had so much unsolicited "dress advice" I could scream. Such as I shouldn't wear white or any form of it, I HAVE to wear a short dress or suit, I'm not "allowed" to wear any form of veil, trains are for first timers, the list goes on. I think we all feel like we came out of bad situations with a better more clear vision of what we wanted in a marriage and partner and deserve our "happily ever after" and a beautiful ceremony and to feel like a bride!!! In any color dress or suit we choose, veil or not, for better or BETTER!!!!

    Gorgeous choices ladies, every.single.dress.
Since I looked and looked and couldn't find anything in my tiny price range, I am having my dream gown created by a group of ladies that makes wedding gowns in TN. They are an on line vendor but I spoke with them on the phone and they are in the US. Last time I checked my gown was coming along great!
They assured me the gown would look 95-97% like the pics of the real gown. I have made a change to the neckline, it will be sweetheart.

The dress is strapless with a lace bolero:
Here it is strapless: (me in the gown)

Camera date wrong it was Jan/2010

Here it is with the bolero front:

    Here is the back:

Close up of details on the front of the gown:

I have no idea how the ladies will do with this, it was a real crap shoot.
This gown is Maggio Sottoro Clarissa Spring 2010, so the price tag was 1800 retail and there was no way I could afford it, so I threw the dice, the dress is expected in June so I will let you know how it turns out. I am praying it turns out ok. If not, I'll buy off the rack, in June I will still have 2 months until the wedding..

robinmichael, I think I violated all of those rules.  I wore white (well, ivory), I wore a long dress, I wore veil (with a blusher, even), and I had a train this time (although I did not at my first wedding, 30+ years ago).  The one advantage I had was that no one had any traditional "rules" for what should be worn by a second-time bride marrying a first-time bride, so they pretty much all had to deal with what I chose.

Wow!  It's nice to see such a variety of dresses.  Here is the one that caught my eye and has captured my heart (at least for now).  I won't really start the search, in earnest, until the beginning of 2011 ... but I love looking!

DeepCove suggested a vendor (shoot!  What's the name??), some of whose dresses look similar for about 1/4 to 1/3 the price.  We'll see what January brings.  My best bet might be to take this to a seamstress and let her have at it!

    We'll see!

Hi all--Dolly Couture was the name, Lisa.   I'm looking for a very similar style dress, although now I'm leaning toward off the rack JCrew or something along that line.  God.  I can't decide.  I have shoes though!, Hang on, I'll try and figure out how to PIP.
