mason jars for a semi-formal wedding?

My ceremony is outdoors. I've seen tons of cute pictures of mason jars with a few flowers in them, I love it!

But i'm worried the over-all look of the wedding might be a bit too "elegant"
should I get the mason jars & just say screw it, or go with something else to have flowers in?

if your worried that it will be wrong for your style, try little square vases from Ikes. I bought mine for 3.00 a piece. We are having an outdoor wedding as well

If you really like it -- do it. You can make it more "formal" with what flowers you choose to put in your jars! I love the mason jars too. I did some DIY work on mine to give them the vintage blue look and we are going to use them at the rehearsal dinner (which is a more casual, NC pig pickin') but I think we are going to re-use them at the wedding too (around the bar maybe? IDK. I'm working on it).

But do what you want. You can make it work.

I'd say it depends on the rest of your decor... tied in with a country or vintage look they could be great, but if everything else is fairly formal then they'd be out of place.

My Cousin is having an outdoor wedding in Georgia. What she is doing is getting faux birch bark table numbers and tying them arund the jars (filled with wild flowers). Here is a picture of the table numbers!

I was thinking about using them down the aisle on the ground with white roses & peach roses in them. Then using some near the bar.

I bought mine at Wal-Mart.. Good price on them, especially if you need them in bulk (I believe they sell them in groups of 12?). I have seen on the DIY board that Dollar Tree has them, but I didn't look there. You can always go to flea markets/garage sales as well, and you may get them cheaper, if you have time!

We're using vintage mason jars for our reception decor and it honestly depends on how you display them. We're doing three per round table, one quart (sitting on a round wood slice), one pint, and one jelly jar with flowers in the two bigger ones and a votive candle in the jelly jar. I cannot wait to see them on the wedding day!

I agree, it depends how you display them. They can be dressed up or dressed down, and will look great with fancy ribbon and more formal flowers!
