I'm hoping my SIL and her FI get a different officiant. At their first pre-martial session the guy kept saying terrible things like "you know God hates divorce." My SIL is in fact divorced - and it's not because she sucked at being married, it's because her ex-H was a controlling ass bag douche lord. Also my SIL is about ten years older than her FI. Officiant is like "What about this age difference? Are you okay with her dying before you do? Are you sure this is what you want? And she does have a kid, too..."

Wtf guy? And it's not like they shouldn't talk about divorce, the age difference or my niece in counseling but ffs there is a way to bring stuff up that isn't douchey, yes?

Anyway. Rant. lol.

At my wedding, one of the GM's dates was a total skank. She wore a really short dress, and when she was dancing, everyone could see her thong (and not the whale tail part, either). Then, she sat on one of the guest's lap, at his table, and made out with him. Then her tits popped out. I didn't realize it was going on at the time (except the making out, which I made XH put a stop to), and if I had, I would've kicked her asss out.

After the reception, she got into a fight with the hotel bartender, who kicked her out, and then my understanding is that she passed out naked on someone's bed-- not her own.

1: Is camo at a wedding tacky? Ugh. But at my sister's nice wedding, the guys wore Mossy Oak vests under their black tuxes. It was subtle, so it wasn't too bad I guess.

Oh, a guy I work with is getting married, and he told me that his bride was going to send a letter to all their guests explaining what "cocktail formal attire" means and what people should wear and are not allowed to wear.

9. Craziest thing at a wedding: I saw a fight between the groom and an aunt from the bride's side of the wedding. The bride and groom were older, drunk before and during the wedding, and someone offended someone else. It was horrible. Luckily, we got to finish eating before the cops came.

This is what I'm saying, lol! My in-laws also went to a wedding once where a big part of the officiant's message was about death and dying and "one of you will go first" to the bride and groom. DUDE, this is a happy, joyous occasion, let's not begin funeral plans on our wedding day?

Although I went to hs with a girl who died six days after her wedding. That was pretty effing terrible.

So sad. When FI was in HS, one of the members in his church JUST got married and a few days later they all left for a big ski trip. He fell alseep at the wheel and the accident killed his wife and a younger girl. FI says he has never been the same. :(

But taking a poll thread where there is plenty of opportunity for a discussion to happen and making it your own story time by talking about 90 different things that happened to you is boring. I dont care about the friend of a friend you know who died 6 days after their wedding. How does that spark a continued discussion? It doesnt.

The same people do that over and over again and it does get annoying. It reminds me of when you go out to dinner with a group of people and 1 person dominates the conversation with all their stories.

I see what you mean I guess, I just don't see a point in getting upset at the way a thread "flows" just because it isn't flowing in the direction you want it to go because there is no way to control that, kwim. I mean, so what. In threads like this, you're asking questions about tacky weddings and crazy weddings. Well, I can only talk about tacky weddings or crazy weddings I've been to. And that leads to other experiences I've had, which yeah, I do like to share. I've always posted a lot and about really random things so none of this is new behavior from me. And now instead of the thread flowing with these stories it's probably going to just end, or go on and on for several posts about how this place sucks. Whatever.

I just think that people are always wondering why people stop posting and why the boards are so slow. I think that is a big part of the problem. People are always flaming the people who point out the reasons, but never flame the people who are part of the problem. If the solution is to bow out of the threads, then ok.
