Honeymoon in September

I would love some recommendations outside of the small list The Knot provides of great places to honeymoon in September.
We are looking for beautiful beaches that are outside (but not incredibly distant from - ie Vietnam, Australia) the U.S.
Please share your advice! Thanks ladies.

If you're trying to stay away from the regulars of the Caribbean, I'd suggest Florida Keys (though I've never been) or Outer Banks in North Carolina. Or Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. You could add on Charleston to Myrtle Beach too.

And if you're looking for the Caribbean, I know my future brother-in-law and his wife went from Baltimore to Turks and Caicos very easily.

I have heard the Carribean and Florida are risky in September.

I would like to leave the U.S. if possible. Sorry I didn't mention that!

You could try Maine or the Canadian east coast. What are you interested in doing on your honeymoon? Are you guys into more beaches and sun, hiking and adventure, a wine tour, etc...?

Thanks for the question!

The most important thing is beautiful beaches to relax on with lovely water.
We also are foodies and love exploring and are open to a bit of adventure (be it hiking, watersports, zip lining or even shopping).

Have you checked out Mexico? We're going to the Riviera Maya area at the end of September. I think you can go anywhere as long as you get insurance. We have a policy that let's us cancel for any reason before boarding flights (even if we change our mind). While we're down there, we'll be covered if there's really bad weather like a hurricane or a damaging storm. I live in SC and the flights aren't as bad as I was anticipating so maybe it's an option for you?

I do love Mexico, but I am concerned about the weather. How does the insurance work if you are currently on vacation?

We went to Mexico last September and it was absolutely gorgeous. Not too hot and not too cold. We did purchase trip insurance sot hat if anything happened with regards to weather it would have been covered. Just make sure you know what your travel insurance covers and make sure it covers what you are worried about.

Hurricane season does occur during September. If you don't want to risk a hurricane cancelling your honeymoon, then I would recommend the following per the parameters you provided (out of country but not too far of a distance):
-Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
-Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
-Aruba
-Bonaire
-Curacao

The last three recommendations are in the Caribbean, but are outside of the traditional hurricane belt, so they are usually a safe option.

So I am considering Brazil, Greece, Curacao, Puerto Rico, Bonaire, Belize and St Thomas - any opinions on these locations for a September Honeymoon?

Unfortunately bad weather can happen anywhere you go. H and I went to Jamaica for our September honeymoon and it was amazing!

Of these, my top choices would be Greece, Curaco, and Bonaire. The weather in Greece would be wonderful in September but flying to Greece will probably be expensive. Puerto Rico, Belize, and St Thomas are in the hurricane zone, so if you are still wanting to avoid that, those options are out. Brazil has the opposite seasons of the US, so depending on when you went in September, it would be the end of their winter/beginning of spring although many areas in Brazil, like Rio are still relatively warm even during the winter months. <a href="http://www.frommers.com/destinations/brazil/0813020006.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Here</a> is some information on the weather in Brazil.

We are goimg to Trinidad and Tobago in September. They are not in the hurricane belt. The food also looks great!

Brazil is a great option! I'm Brazilian and would recommend anywhere in the Notheast (Bahia, Recife, Fernando de Noronha) or of course Rio. The weather will be great. I'm considering Hawaii, since I have never been there and it's so gorgeous, my FI and I enjoy hiking, but are also looking for some quiet time and beautiful beaches. Any recommendantions of which island/beach to stay? So many otpions!
