Ok, so my best friend is getting married in October and it's a redneck theme. W'ere doing a potluck and we cant think of how to word the invitations. Yes, I've heard that it's tacky and not using proper ettquite, but thats not what we're going for. Any help with the wording would be greatly appreciated!

Is every guest being asked to bring a dish? Or just certain ones? Maybe you can just put an insert into the invite about it.
Umm... something along the lines of..
"You're invited to come see the hitchin' of BRIDE to GROOM at WHERE
Please bring you best bone pickin, finger lickin dish."
hahaha.

It's not appropriate etiquette as you know but has your friend considered the logistical issues?
Is she does opt for potluck, what provisions are in place for keeping hot food hot and cold food cold? How is coordinated so that there is a variety? Where will the food be brought during the ceremony?
These are just a few questions your friend should consider before she opts for people to cater her reception.

How about suggesting each invite brings a dish along with the recipe.
This allows it to be a "tasting" of all the new recipies that are given to the bride and groom.

Tell your guests to not spend too much money traveling or on clothing because they will also have to buy their own food.
Please rethink this idea, and if you must go with a "redneck theme" (?), at least provide some sort of food for your guests. A hog roast or barbeque could still be fun and have a rustic/country feeling without imposing on the guests.
If you want to decorate in a style that you think fits 'redneck' that's one thing, but frankly, I find the term offensive.
