Evening! I had a great day. I got to have lunch with my college rommie who happened to be in town for a couple of hours. It was unexpected and great to see her. I am about to wrap some Christmas presents now and work on H's anniversary present.

• Right, Steph?
Honestly though, I don't get how kids can be so selfish/assholish towards their parents. These kids didn't give to shiits less about their widowed mother. So, FI's dad, seeing this poor lady at church who has nobody to help her out, decides to befriend her, visit her, and help her when she needs it. Imagine 10 years later when she add's FI's dad to the will (which reduces the other children's shares). The kids FLIPPED out and then started trying to hang out with her more. She saw right through it. She of course welcomes any visit, but she's not changing a thing. I don't get how they are mad at FI's dad. He helped their mom for crying out loud. They should be thankful he was there for her.
In Response to Re: Evening thread? : A board game he wanted and I found a journal that has a different category/saying at the top of each page. I am going to fill a few of the pages in with things that happened this past year that go along with the page topic. I plan to complete a few pages for him each year. We decided we'd do the traditional gift of paper for our 1st anniversary so I hope he likes his gifts.

• Good evening.

You all are reminding me that I need to do my Toy for Tots shopping. I was going to get a couple of these giant teddy bears we saw at Costco. But when we went back yesterday they didn't have them anymore. I can't decide what I want to get. What are some of the "in" toys this year?
• Guyyyyys.

Hi. :)

We had Indian food for dinner (yuuuum) and I'm getting antsy over waiting for my SS gift to come. Cause I'm a present pig.
In Response to Re: Evening thread? : This. All great ideas. Also, don't forget your local hospice wards. If you call up there and speak to the nurses, they can let you know if there may be anything someone needs. Even if they just need someone to sit and read to them.
Posted by anna.oskar
Checking with Hospice is a great idea. Locally there's a Hospice house, it's separate from the hospital, like a nursing home. When my great-grandfather and great-uncle were there people would come and serve a meal each night to each hall. Usually something simple like soup, or sandwiches. It was so nice for the families that were there. Anything besides vending machine food is welcome when you don't want to leave the bedside.
• Oh hey guys! I haven't read the thread yet - popping in to say hi.

I'm watching re-runs of the Big Bang theory and drinking tea. I feel a sickness coming on but I'm determined to stop it in it's tracks.

I just heard the most wonderful mash up of Feliz Navidad and Jingle Bells done by some performers on the subway and it put me in the Christmas spirit. I'm ready for snow!
Photobucket
• Yay for subway xmas performers!

I think I'm finally gonna bring down my Christmas box, I kind of have to because it's my first year with it (my mom broke me off a chunk of their crazy collection, my old box was just a little shoe box).

My mom used to burn this green German incense in her "smoker" dudes at Christmas time... I wonder where I could find that... going to google...

• So, I was supposed to be at A's parents house for dinner tonight. But I just came home throwing up. I hadn't even eaten yet! Ha. I feel so freaking sick. I've had a headache for three days. I've taken anywhere from 3-10 IB a day because of the headache. I think I may have OD'd trying to get rid of my headache.

Sorry you're not feeling well CCF. I would cut back on the IB, it may make you sick.
But I woke up sick this morning also. Maybe there is something going around?

We have those in my family too! I love mine. He's wearing a green coat, german hat with a feather in it, a pipe at his mouth, and a beer stein in his hand.

Ya I'm not taking anymore IB this week. And I'm completely cutting out caffeine. I hope it helps, but I have a long week/three weeks ahead of me. My only days off from now on until the end of Jan are Tuesdays.
• Those are the ones Anna! And wow, they're worth a bit of money too! I wonder how much their worth if they're 50 years old! I could never ever sell them though, I will have to fight my bro for them. We will have to share since we have two: one santa and one mountain climber.

YES, and the incense box hasn't changed either:

Removing caffiene suddenly can lead to bad headaches also, so be careful. Could it be your sinuses?

Is that what they're called? I'm impressed you knew that (and could spell it) - I love the scene in "Christmas Vacation" where cousin Eddie knocks it down. So funny.

Also Anna - I just caught up on the thread and FWIW - You never seem grumpy. You are always kind and understanding and you always bring me Christmas cheer. You deserve the happiest holiday season.

You should! It's Nikolaustag! St. Nikolaus comes tonight! My niece called to tell me her boots would be placed outside, she's been very good, and hopes he comes. I have a feeling he will. :)
• Anyone still around?

I just got home from work. My brother and his gf are here, so it was a bit teary for for a few minutes.

I need to go to the grocery store to get some stuff for a few kitchen projects, but I'd rather sit here instead.
