We're gettin married by the beach in So. Cal so that area is expensive. (we got a 20% discount, otherwise we would not be able to afford this area) We really like a hotel whose rooms range from $99 -$169. The $169.00 has a kitchen, sitting room, its huge, ita also my honeymoon suite/gettin ready room.
Is this too much money to ask a guest to shell out for their room the night of the wedding? Wedding over at 5pm, after party at hotel.
Almost all rooms have a fridge and 2 beds. Its really nice and a block away, they could walk if they were too drunk to drive there (i doubt that will happen)
Anyway, I know we live here, and you live there, and its different everywhere...but I would like the Knottie's opinions. Please vote. Thanks

Re: How much $ is too much $
But it really depends on the financial situation of your guests. If you're worried that this will be a problem for them, suggest some other, cheaper hotels nearby (you don't need to reserve blocks there, just list the info).

The real question here is how much more difficult is it to add a "g" at the end of a present participle?

99 for a hotel is pretty common in most major metropolitan areas so I think some people expect this. If this is 99 for the night in a rural area I might be a little surprised that you didnt offer at least one other option below that price.
But I think that's sufficient. If people cant afford the 99 theyll get another hotel close by that is cheaper.
We are letting people know the cheaper hotel is an option, but without a special rate, and letting them know the pros & cons of both places. We asked a lot of family/friends over the holidays and most people said they would stay at the more expensive hotel mostly for logisitics, even if some didn't like the price. We aren't crazy about it either, but there aren't many options close by.
You can block rooms at the hotel as a courtesy to your guests, but you cannot require them to stay there. If it's too expensive, they will find other options.

This is the block rate, right? What is the normal rate for that hotel?

One time in a post is an accident, twice means it's a habit. And I'm good where I am, thank you very much.

[QUOTE]I think it's fine as long as you aren't telling people they have to stay there. When my cousin got married, the hotel room was $175/night, and when I asked him if there were other hotels he said "oh I'm sure there are," but didn't offer any information about them. I was a little annoyed by that.

Clearly you are unfamiliar with expedia or orbitz? Have you ever booked a hotel room by yourself before?

Oh well? Was it really that big a deal?
This is a wedding board, not a spelling bee.
I guess it depends upon the financial situation of most of your guests, but I would not blink at the thought of spending your room rate if the hotel is nice.

That was really uncalled for. Who care if she missed two G's? Changed your whole life, did it?
By the way, your baby is ugly.
Not so fun when people are rude to you for no reason, is it?
