    My Mother said she doesn't WANT to wear black to my wedding and I was quite happy with that. She did wear black to my first one, years ago, and she decidely did it in protest. (She did skip the black veil...) Aside from my sad tale, I see black at a variety of formal events, including weddings. There are so many reasons, and so many listed - I think you are wise to let it go. Even if you believed her intent was negative (and I'm not sure what you really think, much less her intention!), it certainly isn't worth letting it hang over you.

    My Mom and FMIL are wearing black.   My BM'S are wearing black too!   Maybe that is what she feels comfortable in?  I also wore black dresses to the last two weddings I attended.  I really liked both of the couples.  Lol Don't worry, no one will think it is inappropriate.

    Overreating.
    My FMIL is wearing black. She likes to wear dark colors because she feels more comfortable because they are slimming. Whatever makes her happy and she feels beautiful in.
