    A harlot, that's me.  That's why I had a bishop sign my marriage certificate.

    All of my SILs wore strapless dresses when they married, and Tio Felipe officiated every one of those weddings. I don't think he'd let his nephews marry harlots.

    I actually wanted a dress with straps and a v-neck. But the dress I liked best was strapless, and my church doesn't have any rules against them.  So I went with it.

    And said dress shipped from the manufacturer late last week, and should be at the dress shop anytime.  I am getting seriously antsy about it.

    When all the fittings were done on M's gown, I had it shipped to NJ to avoid New York sales tax.

    Mine showed up nearly 3 months early.  I had to keep that huge thing in my closet for months, when I anticipated picking it up right before I needed to get alterations.  Not that I'm complaining, obviously, it was nice to be ahead of schedule.  But it was weird having it for so long and wondering if H would find it.

    I got that wrong, sorry.

    Gown was completed and sent to my brother in NJ to save the 8 1/2% sales tax.

    SIL brought the gown back into the city for alterations.

    I said it was complicated.

    Yeah, my FSIL is getting married more than 3 months after me, and her dress is already in.  She isn't actually touching it until early September though.

    I haven't decided yet if I'm going to use the seamstress at the bridal salon, or another woman who I have worked with before.  I just want it to come in so I can be sure it fits, four a couple of reasons.  First is that its fairly form-fitting (a sheath), and I want to make sure I don't need to be putting extra effort into getting rid of a tummy pouch.  Second, after I ordered my dress, I heard a horror story about my salon measuring a girl wrong, so the dress was too small.

    So I really just want to try the thing on.

    OOT - I'm moving to Chicago, where sales tax is just shy of 10%.   Really glad I bought my dress in Michigan at 6% sales tax.

    OOT - yeah, there's Illinois sales tax, plus the city of Chicago.

    Ghoti - here's hoping both of our dresses will fit!
