Leap night! (Wednesday night thread)

Re: Leap night! (Wednesday night thread)

• Yeah, Lynda, i believe it! Chessies are tough pups. J has told me many stories about his old dogs and how tough they were.
image
• I'm pretty sure I had a written hip guarantee with Beefy.  And he has hip dysplasia.  Not like I'd bring him back at this point or anything.
Photobucket
• Trained right they are very smart dogs

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
• KJB, I would not return any dog either, but many hunting breeders will guarantee a refund if you find hip or eye problems within 25 months or so of its birth.
image
• Yeah, I didn't have Beefy xrayed until he had his ACL tear and he was 5 I think - Tory was super young though, right?
Photobucket
• Yeah, Tory was only 6 months when we found out about her hips. :( So if we get our next dog xrayed within 2 years for any reason, and they tell us about dysplasia, we would at least have some form of relief...but I would never return the dog.
image
• Beefy was from northern Wisconsin, he would cry if we brought him back :)

• Are there any handgun shooters here?  I'm trying to find something in a compact or subcompact and I'm not having much luck finding something that I like.

• I shoot occasionally but I prefer revolvers so I'm not of much help. What do you have now?
image
• J&K, my H has a Taurus 380. It's considered a "pocket pistol," I believe.
I can't imagine returning an animal.  But I've never had one that was so badly behaved that I would consider it.  My cats aren't real well behaved, but they are cats, so I don't expect much out of them.  Shadow is pretty well behaved, for a puppy. Edited:  aren't well behaved.  Cat was walking over me as I typed that.  Thanks cat.

I can't imagine it either. I'd like to believe if there was a behavioral problem, I could get it to work. I spent a lot of money for Tory's surgery but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

• I have never shot a gun in my life.  I feel like I should know how.  My brother is a cop and I keep telling him he needs to take me to a range.

• It looks like this:

• MuSu, I don't personally have anything, but H has several, and I've shot a bunch more too.  I'm a big Beretta fan, and would love to try a Nano.  I HATED the Glock 26, and the Springfield XD sub was decent, but I didn't love it either.  I'd prefer something in a 9mm.
lasagna sounds excellent.   Nothing too exciting going on here.  <strong>My dad was just diagnosed with RA,</strong> so I went with him to his appointment to talk about medications.  I picked up a crib my mom wanted for her house for my future niece/nephew and carted that over there.  Good thing I'm short, since I had to put my seat up all the way to get it to fit in there.  Took my fat cat to the vet this morning to get him checked out.  Poor Fatty has a open puncture wound on his back :( Yeah, like I said, nothing exciting :)

<div>I'm sorry to hear that. I was diagnosed with it a few years ago, and all of the information is kind of overwhelming. I wish your dad the best.</div>

MS -- I love the new sig pic

My knees are killing me.  I hate unpacking, but I hate discovering plumbing problems more.  Sigh, I spent too much time tonight crouching beneath my sink looking for the leak source or peering into my dishwasher, trying to figure out why it doesn't drain completely (and thus holds the auto-sensing cycle on hold).  And no definitive answers have been found.  Hmph.

Good night!

H has a 10mm Glock that I actually really like.  But it also had an extended mag on it--that's what I hated most about the 26, the grip was SO SHORT.  Well, that and the fact that it misfed at least one round in every magazine I put in.

• Thanks Mica! And I hope moving becomes less annoying ASAP for you!!

Holly, I don't think the chewing will subside for good, ever, haha. Retriever breeds are notorious chewers. I mean, Tory is way better about not chewing every single thing in sight, but when she gets bored, she certainly trolls for trouble.

<div>Yeah I tease him it's a girl gun. ;) My co-worker is so funny. She's probably 70 and super sweet. The other day my office mate was talking about her concealed weapons permit and my sweet co-workers pulls open her purse and takes out a little handgun in a ziploc baggy. She was too cute, "Would you like one like this? I keep it in the ziploc to keep the crumbs out." </div><div>
</div><div>My FIL carries a Smith & Wesson 9mm and my dad carries a glock. They're cops, so I think it depends on what their department gets them.</div>
• Look at Petal, MuSu and J's side boob--bringing all the pretty.

I just made my first Etsy sale today. Am I supposed to put my return address on the box? I just thought of that, and I'm not sure I want an internet stranger to know where I live. I did not think this through.

Yikes, the misfeeding would scare me. I think that is one thing I like a lot about revolvers. For some reason my coordination sucks and changing out magazines is always troubling to me. With a revolver it is much more friendly for me.

</div><div>If I was selling things on Etsy I would get a PO box or not put my address on the package. I don't need complete strangers (like more so than here) knowing my address.

</div>
• Usually when I order something from etsy or similar amazon type individual seller, they have some sort of return address. Maybe you could get a PO Box or something? I don't know what else would work aside from that.

I should try a revolver.  I have a hard time loading a lot of magazines.  H got a speed loader, which helps a TON, but it's not always there.

Special, stop looking at my boob.

H is...playing with his wedding ring by rolling it back and forth inside my inhaler spacer tube.  And the cat is fascinated.  And I'm concerned.
In Response to Re: Leap night! (Wednesday night thread) : Still catching up. I have  THIS  gun. Not really compact. Are you looking for something more like  THIS ?
Posted by crfb87
Nope, that's about the size I'm looking for (the Walther).  I'd prefer a compact to a subcompact, mostly just for the grip length.  H keeps telling me I don't NEED a longer grip, but godamnit I want it.

I really just like H's full size Beretta, but I'd like something small enough to conceal carry.
