Good morning! It's 4:30am on my first day off work since I got this job. I hope you all are sleeping in and expecting awesome weather today!

Today is my brother's birthday, so I'm heading over to my parents' house later for a birthday BBQ. Mom and I will probably sit out on the back deck in the sun, it's supposed to be gorgeous here in MI. Finally!
So hey - H has been off work since he got done with that crazy night shift in March. He got called up over the weekend and left at 4am today (which is why I'm up at this ungodly hour) - they put him on a natural gas pipeline project that's going in 150 miles from here. The good news is that he'll be working normal daytime hours. What sucks is that he'll be staying out there and this job could go all summer, if not up to the first snow. Oy.
So I'll probably be spending a little more time around these parts for a while.

I'm up super early to go to the beach with H, my sister, and some friends. Hopefully the traffic won't suck too much. I'm excited, I haven't been to the beach since LAST Memorial Day.

We are going to a parade that our son will be marching in. He is in Boy Scouts and will carry the Army flag this year. The route ends at the cemetary where they will have a flag burning ceremony at the end for flags that are no longer serviceable.
Then we are just going to come home and BBQ.....in nice weather.....with no coat or crappy wind. Yesssssss
kmmssg- We are way overdue for some nice weather. How close were you to that storm/tornado yesterday?

[QUOTE]We are in Ionia county (practically neighbors!) so the Northern tip brushed us. My 2 oldest DD's live in Calhoun county so I'm sure they got hit with the storm at least.

I'm actually in Holland... TK picked out GR for me when I set my account up. We're so unappreciated here in the dutchland. Haha. We got a decent storm but nothing like my sister in Battle Creek. She was out camping with her kids and they saw the funnel cloud go right past them. Yikes!

It's finally beautiful weather here. I had a church shower yesterday. I'm beyond shocked at how generous people are. When I showed Fl all our loot, he almost passed out!

I'm off today, but H isn't. But he gets to go to a Braves game, so that is some consolation for him. We are doing a picnic at the lake this afternoon, and would LOVE some dessert suggestions.
[QUOTE]As much as I'm denial about this move I have to say I'm ridiculous excited about biking. Living in the islands I'm a little isolated. I just found out about the 2-day bike rides in TX and LA for Multiple Sclerosis . My friend who is moving to TX and I are going to train for it. Has anyone done one of those events before?

<div>If its the one from San Antonio to Corpus, my best friends mom has done it before. She loves doing it.</div>
I've missed you ladies. Has anything fun or juicy happened?
Well, H made it back from GA. It was a whirlwind trip. BIL, FIL and I left Friday night after work and drove through the night. We got to our hotel at 8am Saturday, rested and loaded the truck with all of our stuff. Talk about no sleep. Then we were on the road yesterday morning by 8am. Just like old times, we had a bon fire last night. I only had a few drinks and I was out.
Today, we are having a cookout and the rest of the family is coming over. Fun times. Just like the good old days.

I don't have a particularly profound observation to make about it, it was just an interesting little moment of realizing that that particular knowledge is probably something I picked up from my English family and not in the US.
