Snarky Brides

Good morning!

Hello ladies! I'm only working a half day today, then I'm heading up to Orlando for the race! I've got my car all packed, all I have to do is pick up my park pass on the way out of town (there's an office on a joint military base in South Miami where we get discount tickets - I'm getting a 4-day parkhopper for $135). I'm so excited!!

Re: Good morning!

  • Holy crap Mehg, that is CHEAP!!  Good luck at the race!

Today is my Friday, thank goodness!  I'm so over this week and work.  I was told by a graduate student that I was a peon doing peon work.  Well, fvck you.  When you can't graduate because this peon didn't do her peon work we'll see what you say then.  I almost lost it in a vent yesterday to the one person I actually still like around here, but I held my tongue.  I don't want drama, I just want out.

Anyway, H has his first business dinner tonight, so I think I'm going to veg out with a bottle of wine and watch all my shows that he hates!

  • I'm sorry about that shitty graduate student, Shay.  What kind of douchebag would even call someone that?  He's in a for a rude awakening once he gets out into the real world.

  • Good luck, Mehg!

Shay, you had an interview right? How'd it go?

We were supposed to get another 3 inches of snow last night, but it doesn't look like we got anything, which is fine with me. The drive into work should be nice and easy at least.  Last night I started looking at our budget and my vacation time, etc.  BAH. Money stuff makes me hate being an adult. ;)

I did, Steph.  I think it went really well (lasted over an hour, was very conversational, they liked all of my questions, and even showed me around the office and where things happen/people's offices).  They are doing interviews through today, so in my perfect world that means I'd hear something tomorrow but in reality, if I get the job, I probably won't hear anything until next week. It's still with the same entity so since it's a state job it will take forever to process.

I know Mehg.  And it was said no nonchalantly (sp?) like it wasn't a huge fvcking insult.  Blah whatever.

  • Do you guys remember the shingle twins in my office? and how no one said anything cause they were the owners parents so everyone felt really awkward about it? Yesterday right before lunch, we caught the guy in the kitchen testing his blood sugar and he accidentally dripped blood on the counter. He grabbed a dry paper towel and wiped it up and walked away - he didnt use soap, he didnt disinfect it, nothing. This is the counter everyone prepares their lunch on. We freaked the fuuck out and ended up complaining to the VP about it and mentioned all the other gross stuff this guy does (like getting food on his hands, licking it off instead of washing it and then drying his hands on the dish towel, picking his nose and flicking it on the counter). Even the VP feels weird about it because it IS the owners dad but COME ON!! so freaking gross, beyond words. Blah!

Should be an OK day though, I hope.
  • Nebb, that is disgusting.

  • Good morning!

We went to see the house yesterday and while it was nice (not perfect, I liked it waymore than DH) our bigger issue is that we figured out that we pretty much have to sell before we buy (inventory is really low, seller's market, so if we put in an offer that was contigent on the sale of our house it likely wouldn't be accepted).  So we are meeting with another realtor tonight (I really liked the ones we met with last night, plus they are bring down the total commission on the sale to 3% as long as we buy through them as well) but I think we are going to have to get our act together so we can list by March 5.  The good news is that we are going to list for 10k more than I had predicted. Score!

I gave up drinking anything other than water for Lent and I think yesterday was way too easy, today is going to kill me.
  • Good morning, everyone!

I have a doctor's appointment this morning, so I'll get a short day at work too. It's really nice, because work's kind of sucking my soul the last few weeks. I haven't been sleeping well and I just can't get enough oomph for work. I hope it improves soon.

Nebb - that's revolting. I hope that your VP can figure out what to do about that guy, weird situation or not. Yech.

Good luck with the real estate thing, number. I hope it all goes smoothly for you. :)
  • That's disgusting Nebb. You could always go the passive-aggressive route and post fliers about bloodborne pathogens up in the kitchen and see if he gets the hint. Wink But in all seriousness, I'm glad you guys said something.

I always wonder how people like that were raised.

  • Good Morning.

So the storm that was supposed to go right between me and Steph giving us each 3 inches?  The bitch shifted south.  Now I'm in the up to 8 inches zone.  Winter Storm warning and all that.  So I don't know what to do.  There is no snow falling yet.  Do i just go to piano class or sit tight?  It's clear now but heck, SD weather can go from beautiful to terrible in like 5 minutes.

I had a total geek-out moment last night when I was trying to fall asleep in bed. I was really excited about going to Disney so I had a hard time falling asleep, so I started doing math problems in my head. I had a brilliant idea so I said to H: "Hey, are you awake?"

    H: Yeah...

Me: You know that movie "The Number 23"?

    H: Yeah, what about it?

    Me: My bib number for the race adds up to 23. 8 + 4 + 3 + 8 = 23. This is a good sign.

    H: You're pretty.

I don't know why I'm so stoked about that, but I think it's awesome and just thought I'd share lol.

  • Good morning. Today is my Monday. I work for 7 days then I have 4 off. I bought a new Kia Sorento yesterday. I like it, but I'm freaking out a little about the whole thing. Everything at the dealership seamed to happen so fast yet it took forever. I feel like I might have made a mistake. I know I can afford it, but I'm a little freaked about the extra gas usage and maintenance on the vehicle. I took a black one because it was all they had in stock, after I left I realized I could have asked for a red or blue on delivered. Ugh. I'm sure I'll get over this feeling soon.

  • Shay- I'm sorry that student was such a jerk to you. I'd make sure to mess something up so she doesn't get to graduate on time. ;)

So, gas prices here jumped like $.50 overnight. How delightful. I keep hearing $5/gallon is going to be here before summer. It's really foggy here too and icy since it's so cold. This day has yet to impress me. /bitching
  • Morning!

Steph and Anna, I wonder if that's the storm we're supposed to get tomorrow.  They're saying we could get up to 15 cm of snow.  Weird, because today is supposed to be 7°C (54°F ish).

I fear I may have dislocated a rib.  I was in such wicked pain yesterday I left work a few hours early and ended up crying on the phone to the nurse at my doctors office.  Doc said to switch from heat to ice and ok'd me for 48 hours of Advil, and so far it's helped a lot.  I'm nowhere near 100%, but I can concentrate on work, so that's good.

Mehg, good luck with your race!!

  • Wow Mehg that's exciting!  Good luck :)

Nebb, I just threw up in my mouth several times....

YIO, how do you like it?  I am still researching cars to buy (this will be after the wedding).  I never really thought of a Kia but saw a commercial for the Sorento last night and it had me thinking... SUV with 36 mpgs highway and high 20s for city?  That's pretty awesome.  Also, isn't Kia the one with the really good warantee?

    Morning all,

Today is a usual day besides my wonderful belly issues.  Other than that, nothing much to report.  Oh!  I sat next to a guy on the way in to work today that had KILLER breath.  I mean, I understand not everyone has good breath and all (I'm super anal about oral health and I chew sugar free gum constantly)  but seriously?  I could not breath.  It was like being in a nasty breath cloud all hazy and green and shite.  GROSS.
  • Good morning, ladies.

Have a great run, Mehg!  You're going to have a great time.

Nebb - that is absolutely disgusting.  Hello, bloodborne pathogens?  Bodily fluids on common counter surfaces?  ugh.  I wouldn't ever fix my lunch in that room again.

It's snowing here.  Wasn't in the forecast at all, and 12 hours ago it was 30* warmer than it is right now.  Whatever - forecasting next to the Front Range is almost impossible.

  • Raynes, how did you manage to do that?

Mara, I heard that about the gas prices as well.  I hope the gas prices don't reflect on my guest number at the wedding, since nearly all of my guests are OOT by like 800 miles and will most likely drive.
  • Mara, that's all we've been hearing here about gas prices.  Gas was in the $1.50 range when I was in HS and now we're looking at nearly $5?!  wtf.  Okay, I just realized how long it has been since I was actually in high school.  holy wow.

Aww Raynes that sounds terrible!  I hope you feel better!

it seems to be one of those things that happens easily during pregnancy.  Your ligaments are all softer, your rib cage is already expanding, the growing person is forcing everything from your stomach area up into your rib cage, you lift something in a weird way and POP, out it goes.

I think it happened a few weeks ago too, but it resolved itself in a few days.  This time it's worse.

  • Gas jumped $0.35 here overnight. Good thing I filled up last night on the way home from work!

Shay- my mom always joked with me to remember the price of the first tank of gas I bought, so I have. $1.27/gallon. That wasn't even 10 years ago! It's right around $3.50 here right now. A few weeks ago I got it for $2.95 at Costco, and it was like a miracle. ha
  • oh no, Raynes! Hope it heels quickly.  My coworker had 2?3? cracked ribs when she was pregnant. When her son was born, his foot was bent a little weird. They figure his heel had been wedged under her rib the whole time. ouch.
  • Gas is cray cray here.  It was 3.65 when I filled up on Friday and I'm sure (by all of your posts) that it jumped.  We have the Stop N Shop rewards card where you get the gas points, but we always "forget" to use them.  Ok, I DONT forget but FI always wants to save them to fill up his diesel truck and never does so when I go to use it the points are expired... womp womp.  Last time we had almost 500 points = 50 cents off per gallon.

</div><div>Yep, I think I filled up for $3.80 yesterday?  Ridiculous.  The first time I ever filled up it cost $15-20 total.  TOTAL!  That was 8 years ago.  I'm lucky if I can fill up for $40 now.

</div><div>ETA - We have an older Dodge truck (like 1995ish?) that we use solely as a work truck and forget about filling that thing up.  It's at least $90 now.  Thankfully we don't do that very often.</div>

  • Lol les, that's why I prepare my lunch at home. This man is the WORST. Aside from being gross he is also totally disrespectufl to anyones space or time. He takes 15-20 minutes heating up his feasts at lunch and everyone has to wait and waste their lunch time. He stands outside the bathroom and waits if anyone is in there, he whistles constantly. Uugh, hate him.

I don't get it, we were supposed to get 6-8.  Nothin' doing. Silly storm.

I have my first allergist appointment today (allergy shots WOO!!).  Then I have a busy day of work after that.  I'm glad I mostly made dinner on Tuesday for tonight, so all that needs to happen is H needs to put it in the oven.  I should have dinner ready for me when I get home, hooray.

  • I think gas is like $3.69-3.75 around here. WTF, I thought the Midwest was supposed to be cheap. I think it was around $.94/gallon when I first started driving. Now it takes me more than $50 to fill up.
  • Re: gas:  I saw on my way to one of my appointments that it was .11 a gallon higher in the city our office is in than in the notoriously cheaper town my appointment was in.  I still had a half tank, but I filled up.  Glad I did, they just said it jumped up .30 here too on the news.  WTF.  Not pleased.  I drive so much.

Nebb - I have a bloodbourne pathogen training link you could send to this guy.
