  • Hahahah twas me. I went out on a couple dates, it was fun overall but didn't meet anyone I really connected with. My ex and I reconnected a couple months later and have been taking things slowly since.

  • Good morning!

Its a beautiful friday here and I cannot wait until the weekend. Its been lonley out at my house though, my h is working 7 days a week and im really far from anyone and 45 min from the nearest town.
However, This weekend I am going to spend a day at work with him so he can get it done quicker and we can have a life again!
  • Good morning (for the next 23 minutes, anyway) and happy Friday!

Stacks, you'll have an awesome time.  I went to DW the first time when I was 4.  Back then, they had breakfast with the characters on the Steamboat Willie, which is one of my very first memories.  H and I got engaged at Disney in Jan 09 (hence the 11509 in my SN), and I was disappointed that they don't do that anymore.

  • Guys, someone has their kids in the office. I can hear them up front from my desk. They're all giggling and yelling and stuff, and I want to punch them.

.... should I be worried about myself in 8 months or so?

    No.

I'm growing a child, but I still have zero patience for anyone else's. Don't go over to the dark side where everyone's kids are cute.

  • They are SCREECHING now.  FYI, our office is usually really quiet.

ETA: Turns out it's my old supervisor's kids.  No wonder they're so misbehaved.
  • Another fun fact... "Secret Garden" just came up on my Pandora. The version complete with the talking clips from Jerry Maguire. haha
  • Oh, also Stacks - sorry if someone mentioned this already, I just skimmed through.  But you get get a Photo Pass thing so that all of the professional photos from the photographers around the park will be on one CD that you can take home instead of having to purchase them individually.  If you want to check it out: http://www.disneyphotopass.com/

  • EW - congrats!  That's nice to hear.

Holy Moses - Dr. Monstah is closing clinic early - had receptionist cancel evening patients.  I still have to go in, but can leave an hour earlier.  Still will have a ton of snow to drive through but early is early.

Steph - I think you have no worries as far as childrearing goes.  From what I "get" from you on these boards, you're grounded and level-headed.
  • Steph, you should be VERY worried.  Helpful, yes I am ;)

I just got off the phone with DirecTV.  We ordered Showtime to watch Dexter, and now that Dexter is over, we have no need for it or the extra $15 charge on our bill each month, so I called to cancel.  FREAKOUT!  I just had to say "no thank you" to about 17 different offers of this package or that package or this channel or that.  I wonder if those people hate themselves, because I sure would.

  • J&K - you should have tried to sell them stuff out of your house, like bartering. Be like "Ok, I'll sign up for Starz and Encore if you buy my old living room set. I'll Febreze it before your pick it up, don't worry."

  • That's actually an excellent idea.  I don' tknow WHAT we're going to do with this couch when we move.

What DO people do with their old furniture?  I don't think we can sell it.

I....don't think they'll take this.  Seriously.  It's in rough shape.

  • Can you post on Twin Cities Free Market? You'd be surprised the crap that's on there.  Or post it on CL for free.

Otherwise, it's like $10 for the garbage company to pick it up. (at least it was for our futon that the dogs destroyed.)
  • I would pay someone $10 to take it.  Especially if they'll haul it out of the house.

  • If we want to get rid of something the easy way, we haul it to the end of the street. That shiit will be gone in a matter of hours, no matter what kind of shape it's in. Once we managed to get rid of this hideous couch that was stained and all torn up beyond use (H took it off someone's hands thinking he could fix it...ha).
  • That's how our neighborhood is Sesh.  Although we were totally shocked a couple of weeks ago - H had listed his old big screen TV on CL (free, just pick it up) and the guy didn't come when he was supposed to so H left him a message that he would leave it in the driveway for him since he had to leave for work.  Guy never came and the TV was still in the driveway when we got home from work that night.

I'm pretty sure our neighbors would call the police.  PLUS we'd have to haul it out of the house.  Not happening without another large man here.

This works, actually. My neighbour posted an ad on CL offering $50 to anyone who'd come in and remove and dispose of the ancient fridge in her basement. I didn't think it was enough of an offer, but she had so many people take her up on it that her fridge was removed the same day. Colour me surprised! Maybe it's worth a shot?

We do this too Sesh. It's amazing what people take.

  • We put our stuff out with a "Free" and a "Gratis" sign on it.  Amazing how stuff poofs out of there.  I'm putting our old dishwasher out this weekend.  It'll have the added sign of "Yes, it works!" "Si, funciona!"  I'm sure it'll be gone by noon Saturday.
  • Once a month, Waste Management does a bulk trash pickup for large items like refrigerator boxes, bed frames, chopped down trees, etc. You just put them out on the curb next to your garbage can. When we ordered our couch a few months ago, it came in two large boxes that I just stored in our shed until the bulk pickup day.
