Well, I know there are roaches here some places but I think only in really dirty or rundown areas. I honestly would be shocked to see one.
Posted by musicalsunlight
That's how it is here, but my friend in Florida said they're everywhere down there. I guess it's just a hazard of living in warm places?   We never saw any around the grounds of our hotel, but definitely in the little shopping town. They were just running wild when it quieted down.

I've never seen a cockroach IRL either.

• Yeah, here in GA we have cockroaches that can fly.
• Um, I see a cockroach in the house usually a few times a year. Most of the time they are dead but still.

I see them even more at school.
I don't mind spiders as long as their not on my fucccking face! And I'll be crossing Arkansas off my list of states to see.

<div>The spiders were in Oklahoma. No worries =P. I'm actually amazed we haven't had many bug issues here.</div>
• The only time I've ever seen a roach was in Florida. Though we try to jazz it up and call them palmetto bugs (which I think is actually a different kind of bug?). I'm no entomologist.

Gah!
I guess I'm lucky that the worst bug we have here are earwigs.  Those things freak me out.
No cockroaches here. There are some nasty ass spiders, though. Years ago my dad got bit by a brown recluse. Oh, and there are slugs here. Slugs freak me out.

<div>Once my friend and I put salt on a slug because we didn't think it really had an effect on them. It did. I felt both guilty and very grossed out.</div>
• Aryn - that hole is a drainage track to keep the sink from overflowing.  It is enclosed down the bottom of the sink and connects to the plumbing. I wouldn't worry about it leaking anywhere.

I don't like roaches.  The other day I sat down to pee and a grasshopper started coming at me.  don't know where it came from.. but with my pants around my ankles I started screaming for H.  He came in and smacked it with his shoe. (I had bare feet).

<div>I have found TWO earwigs in my house in the last week. Why?! Why in the summer? Those actually scare me.</div>
• One time, I was super broke in college and lived in a sh*tastic place. To put it into perspective, two of my neighbors were drug dealers. I saw cockroaches there every single day. Also, they decided my microwave was a great place to call home and infested it. Omg it was so gross. The microwave people! I swear turning it on just made them bigger.

<div>Palmetto bugs are giant roaches which are the ones I typically see. Little roaches are gross but the palmetto bugs freak me out. </div>
Slugs really freak me out.  We don't have slugs in Bend.  We don't have really any bugs in Bend.  Too high and too dry and too cold in the winter.  There are LOTS of mosquitoes up in by all the lakes during the summer though.
Posted by crfb87
<div>Yeah, that's my hometown too. One summer, I came in from playing outside, and literally every inch of the back of my neck was covered in bumps from mosquitoe bites.</div>
• Cockroaches...eeeewwww. We don't get them in the house, but after all of the rain we've been having, I've been seeing them more and more outside on the porch. I can't stand spiders either. Or scorpions. I was in the ladies room in a hotel in San Antonio a few years ago, and there was a scorpion on the wall. When I told the hotel clerk about it, she said they were common and be sure to check your shoes in the morning. I was paranoid for the rest of the trip.
• I have a question for you all. What would you wear as a participant in a marketing campaign for a plastic surgeon? I'm supposed to be giving a patient testimonial but I don't know if it's videotaped or photographed or anything, and I have no clue what to wear. Business casual?
• Slugs are slimey, yes, but they move so slowly. They don't bother me. Unless I'm walking around barefoot and I accidently step on one. Then they're super gross.
• I killed a cockroach on the pool deck at HS swim practice once by dropping a diving brick on it.

<div>I'm the same way, but I'm also afraid of looking like an idiot if this isn't being videotaped and I'm just sitting there in a dress or something. I really should have starting thinking about this during their business hours. </div>
• Liesel - I'd go with business casual - slacks with a cute top kind of look.  Maybe stick a nice pair of jeans in your car so you can switch to jeans with your cute top just in case.

Can we stop talking about bugs now?
• Leisel - business casual is what I would do

Loopy - I think you're safe. It was to save you from a killer grasshopper

Lizzie - GA has scorpions but they're only little. They still freak me the fuuuuck out. I don't know what I'd do if I found one of the big ones.

You could wear slacks and a cami with a cardigan, like heb said, and then you could always take the cardigan off and just wear a simple shirt underneath.

• Thanks, guys. Now I have the perfect outfit planned :)

The only plastic surgeries I've had were to remove melanoma. In case any of you were wondering what work I had done, haha
• Ladies, I'm off to bed. Gonna try and get over this minor cold before it gets worse. Have a good night!
• Yea, I was just sitting on the toilet, looked up and said, " oh look. A scorpion." the I got the fuuuck out of there as fast as I could. It was about 6 inches long.
