Menu Advice

So we went for our tasting last night.  It was great but now we are conflicted about meal choices.  I know essentially duets are for if you are not offering guests a meal choice.  However my FI really enjoyed the Filet & lobster tail.  Our wedding is in July so I'm thinking lobster would go nicely.  But I also want to offer our guests another choice in case they are not beef or fish eaters.

Is it weird to offer a choice of Filet & lobster tail OR Chicken?  Will people be like what a fancy beef offering but what about us non beef/fish eaters?  I mean we can go with offering straight filet or chicken but like I said, FI really wants to do Filet & lobster tail and our venue will let us offer a duet and a regular entree.

Am I over-thinking this?  Thoughts?

Hmmm, I've wondered about that as well.

I think offering both the duet and the chicken is fine.... you are giving your guests the option and they can choose how they like. Your over thinking this a bit, just pick what you both like/want.

It seems you are over thinking. People will be thrilled with whatever you serve them! You are throwing a fantastic party and people will just be there to have a good time, and eat whatever is put in front of them

Offer them the choice. I mean, it is not that much more work to gather the responses and send them along to your venue. I think you are putting on lovely wedding food but if you are able to offer the chpice and meet your guests concerns it is always the best thing to do.

Being a non beef or seafood eater I always appreciate the chicken or veggie option! :)

If your venue doesn't charge extra for that definitely do it! I went to a wedding that was like that-- I think there was a chicken and a salmon as well as the lobster/fillet. The groom thought we were all insane if we didn't take the filet and lobster, but there were a number of people that didn't want beef and or shellfish. I would love that at a wedding.

Definitely nice to have a choice as a guest... offer both.

I should also add, if there is a price different, plan on most people getting the duet...
side note, apparently people with gout (sp?) cannot eat shellfish or red meat. My dad called to check there would be something our neighbor could eat.

I gave the option of surf and turf which is a filet and baked stuffed shrimp....or chicken cordon bleu (chicken stuffed w ham and cheese) both with garden salad, the dressings will be on the table, peppercorn ranch or raspberry vinagrette. Entrees served with roasted potatoes and seasonal steamed veggies.

I just asked when they rsvp to tell me what they'd like to have. When doing the seating chart ill let the venue know how many entrees of each type at each table. So far i got about 50/50 responses for each of the entrees.

I think its a great idea and sounds delicious!! :)

I think that chicken would be fine to serve with the filet and lobster tail.  I personally would love a lobster tail at a wedding I was going to!

Originally, we were going to have just the beef and the Indian veggie choice, but FI thought about his family and realized there were quite a lot of people who wouldn't want either, so we added chicken.
