Our bridesmaids are wearing the same teal dress with silver shoes of their choosing. FI gathered budgets from his groomsmen but we haven't been to pick out anything yet. I believe he's planning on a basic black tux with silver tie though. FI already owns a black tux with a silver vest and silver and black ties. He wants a colorful tie, but my input on what color. 

I have no idea. I hate the idea of trying to match a teal that might not ever quite match up - my shoes are "teal" and are MUCH more green than the bridesmaids dresses are. The BM dresses are Pretty Maids, and I don't think any of the big tux shops match them like they do DB. 

My sister is having her dress hemmed and offered me a swatch to take to try to match it but I'm still just not sure. I'm thinking maybe a royal purple instead? The colors are jewel tones with very very light peacock accents.

    No matching. You will never be able to get the teal color to match spot on. I would opt for a black vest and black tie for the groomsmen or silver vest and tie.

    The groomsmen are definitely wearing black tux and silver tie. FI wants a colorful tie but no idea what color. Bouts are peacock feathers.

    Since you are using peacock feathers I would take a feather with you to the store and find a tie that coordinates well with it.  Since peacock feathers have a variety of teal, blue, purple, green etc in them then as long as you stick to that color scheme you should be fine.
