I have four people coming dress shopping with me. I feel like that's a lot of pressure, because I'm not big on shopping in groups anyways. I usually prefer to shop by myself or with one other person. I need my sister and my matron of honor there because I need their opinions, and my mom wants to come, and now my mom's making a big deal out of my dad coming. He says "I'll come if you want me to" and I say "Well, you can come if you want". It's not that I don't want him there, it's just a lot of pressure to try on dresses in front of that many people when I'm already nervous about the whole dress-shopping thing to begin with.

I was out almost all week because of infections and I think we are going home early today!! I love working new the holidays because we really don't work, they bring in lunch and let us go home early.. it is almost pointless to use vacation time!

Someone stole our multi-plug extension cord out of our front yard last night!  Now half of our Christmas lights don't work.  Who does that!?  I hope that if they use that extension cord for their lights, that it blows a fuse in their house and catches their lawn on fire.  That seriously pissed me off.  They're $5 at Wal-Mart, get your own!  Yell

I had three others with me.  Sometimes I feel I was pressured into the dress and I ended up walking out with a veil that I didn't know we got until I got home and I didn't want a veil.  Just try not to let them pressure you into a dress and try not to let them run you over.  If you aren't 100% sure on one, take your time.

We're supposed to be getting an audit today at work, and so yesterday it was spent cleaning up the store, putting things where they're supposed to go, etc. Well, 2 of my bosses had the nerve to tell me to "work harder". DUDE! I've been working my a$$ off the entire time while you 2 were standing around gossiping! I already know what I'm supposed to do, so just chill! Then when I sat down for not even 2 minutes because my back was killing me, they told me to hurry up!

If it wasnt because I'm working my way up in the management ladder, I would have walked out. Call me nuts, but I cant stand it when people tell me to hurry up and work harder, when they're not even doing anything. Whew. B&M over.

I know who my secret santa is.

I'm not a patient person and I don't think it's fair to see that your knottie is upset they haven't gotten their ornament yet and not address them to tell them why they haven't received their ornament.

I didn't participate in the Ornament Exchange and, reading all the posts, I'm glad I didn't.  Seems like it got a little angsty there for a while.

Thanks, shortgirl. I'm sure it will be fine. My mother has been instructed to keep her opinion to herself, and if my dad's there, he'll make sure she does that.

I got a free turkey! Vanderbilt gives out free turkeys to its employees every year, so I schlepped halfway across campus to pick it up. Obviously I can't take it home to Dallas, so that will make so many meals for just me come January! My arm hurts now, but I don't care!

I agree Mariah.  The message I sent my secret santa on Elfster on Monday or Tuesday asking them if they had sent it was not answered.

I think I'll go with Mandy and not participate in the future.

I have some kids who give me presents and it's great.  However, I think there's a conspiracy out there this year to fatten us up.  I've gotten so much candy, cookies, baked goods that I wanted to throw up yesterday from all the crap I'd been eating.  It's easy to say don't eat it but when they're sitting there looking at you, hoping that you like it, you kind of have to.  I really wish they would just not give me a present or get me a $3 gift card to somewhere.  Yes, I said $3.

I'm with you Julie.  I don't know why, but I've always received a bunch of $5 starbucks cards from students in the past.  That was great!  This year all I've got is junk food.  I am truly touched that they like me enough to bring me a gift, and coming from middle schoolers it really is the thought that counts, but I feel terrible that I'll end up throwing away a lot of it because I'm really trying to cut out junk food.  and I'll be missing my free starbucks drinks for the rest of the winter :-(

I did get a jar of homemade jam that looks amazing.  I'm looking forward to trying it!

I didn't do the ornament exchange on here because I did all three on the nest.  Plus it only gave you two days and I didn't want to be the naughty knottie that didn't send it on time.

I made all As this semester, and graduate magna cum lade tomorrow morning.  I was upset with Colton for a while not realizing how important that was and he made up for it last night by telling me how proud he was of me, and giving me my Christmas present early (dance lessons.) tehe.

Which brings me to me B&M, I wish I was more coordinated and could pick up dancing as fast as he has. grrr.

Bananna, that is cool that you got a turkey!  It's one of those really traditional holiday gifts that not a lot of people get anymore.  My BIL works at Market Street and they give all their employees free turkeys for Thanksgiving.  I'm curious what they will get for Christmas as well.

I'm glad I didn't participate in the ornament exchange as well.  I knew I wouldn't have the time to go shopping and make it to the post office to send out.

Mariah, I'm pretty sure I (and a lot of others) know who your secret santa is.

Brides worry too much about head tables.  Sit people the way you want and forget about "rules."  You're only there for 10 minutes anyway.
  • edited December 2011
...but if we know who Mariah's is, then who is mine?

Mine told me they were a "regular" on here...

Maybe we need a confessions post. Haha.
  • edited December 2011
Jess, you are soo smart!  That is so awesome!  I'm so proud of you! Congratulations on graduating magna cum laude!

I'm now wishing I hadn't participated in the ornament exchange.  It's one thing to do it with girls who post on here regularly...but the person who got me is not someone who regularly contributes to this board and the fact that she has my address creeps me out a lot.  I'm not trying to be all "mean girls" and say we should only allow regulars to be in on things like an ornament exchange...but when it involves giving out your address, I'd rather give it to someone I've "known" on the boards for a while instead of someone who rarely posts.

and I love how my secret Santa has been posting this week and has so conveniently avoided any post that has anything regarding the ornament exchange in it.

Maybe I'm just grumpy today, but the more I think about it the more pissed I get.  And to be honest, I'd rather her just come out and say, "Well, since you're b****ing so much about it, I'm just not going to get you an ornament" instead of leaving me hanging, wondering whether or not she's shafting me.

Have I said lately that I'm not patient??  Because seriously, I'm not.  And if any one knows that, it's the regulars on this board who've been around long enough to "know" me.

Two of my BM's are waiting till the VERY last minute to get their dresses.  One has scarcely acknowledged that she is going to get it at all... and she is in my family and close to me. In fact, she has avoided me since I asked her to be a BM.  Dude, if you don't want to, don't!

When I found it I showed them all and they loved it (and it's a steal at $100!).  I don't get it.

    Mariah,

Thank you!  About the ornaments, I am so sorry. :( I wish I had you.  I would get you something awesome.

I agree.  I never thought about that on the nestie board (having someone who doesn't post).  Maybe it should be limited to regulars?  Maybe we could do secret Valentines in Feb for regular posters?
  • edited December 2011
Steph, it's actually not the person you're probably thinking it is.  I'll just come out and say, it's not Danielle.  At least Danielle has been good enough to say she's sorry and given her reason for not sending out her knottie's ornament!  That's a common courtesy I've not been given.

And I'm done b****ing about it.

Sooo...since my parents are coming into town for Christmas now, I get to tell my MIL that her plans for a friends and family get together on Christmas Eve probably isn't happening.  I'm sure she'll be pissed.  And I couldn't care less.  Family trumps family friends and I'd much rather spend my Christmas Eve with my nieces, my sister, and my parents than my BIL's girl friend's family.

I definitely think exchanges on here should be "familiar people only". I don't even know why anyone would want to participate who is a lurker or isn't "friends" with the people on here.

I didn't participate because I didn't want to get some stranger and vice versa.

Whoops, Tiffany scratch what I wrote above.  I'm starting to think I don't know what I'm talking about and that I'm reading into other posts way too much.  Wink

I agree about the confession post.  I could use one today.

So I considered signing up for the ornament exchange for a hot minute, then I decided I didn't post enough and didn't want to intrude!  I would like to post more, but this board is mostly active during the day, and it's hard for me to check in at work.

And since it's flame free- In my opinion, B-lists are inappropriate.  Even the name suggests 2nd class guests... but that's just my opinion.

I pretty much had to twist Chris' arm to buy a winter jacket for Columbus... he may not like spending the money today but he'll be thankful when we're in 30 degree weather for Christmas!
