How to start finding a florist?

Okay, I've seen all of the recommendations recently on florists on this board and while I do value them immensely, how do I go about even starting to find one?  The other vendors I've chosen so far have prices and samples of things online that can guide me, but not florists.  I really have no idea how much it should reasonably cost or the types of flowers I want or anything at all.  Did y'all just make a list of several that had good reviews and go and interview each one until you found one you really liked?  Is this the only way?  TIA!

i went with christina omalley because of all of the awesome things that people had to say about her here.

i was upfront with her about my budget and she has helped me figure out what i like and don't like all the while keeping me within budget.

i'll tell you, the question that i really had to marinate on for a while was: list your favorite flowers and your least favorites. do you like orchids, lilies, roses, hydrangea, peonies, or what? between that and solidifying my colors, she really helped me shape what i wanted my wedding to look like. she also drew me back from choosing flowers that were not season-appropriate or that would not do well in the heat of my august wedding.

whomever you choose, good luck! for me, flowers were the hardest because it was something unlike anything i had ever dealt with before!

Flowers were never a priority for us.  I looked through reviews on the board and contacted Erin Steen.  She works out of her home so I figured her prices would be more reasonable.  I sent her a list of the bouquets, corsages, etc that I wanted, and she sent me a quote.  Later we met in person to look through pictures and discuss what types of flowers I wanted.  I was happy that we ended up using her.

The reason florists don't really have prices on their sites is because the sky is the limit for flowers. It completely depends on the type of blooms you want, whether they're in season, how much you want.....Just come up with a budget. Take your recs from the board. And then go to the interviews.  A good florist will make you feel great about your budget and won't pressure you.

I made a list of several florists to visit.  I went in with a budget & a few pictures & asked them what they could do for that price, then went with the one I was happiest with.  I think I met with 6 florists...some gave me a good vision with that little detail, some wanted me to pick every single bloom.  I don't know that much about flowers, so I really wanted someone to put something together for me.

I am going with Christina O'Malley also. She has been nothing but amazing and helpful so far! She really takes everything you say into consideration and will work with your budget.
