Poll: Would you ever swing? Yes, sexually.

ETA: This poll was inspired by a lecture we had in our couples' therapy class. Not from personal experience ;)

  • Fvck, okay, I'm on crack. I meant to click absolutely no, and then I got all (eek!) by the hockey for a minute and thought it said absolutely not... so I'm the "we already do" vote, though it should be a whopping hellz no.

I was wondering who clicked that one
  • HAHAHAHA

Sorry, I love you, Alix! :)
  • Don't listen to Alix. She swings all right. SHE SWINGS.

Yeah, no. Swinging is not for us. BUT I do know swinger couples. True story.

Duh, Alix. Web forums are totally secret, as we've discussed today with 'ol Brim.

Your secret is safe with us.
  • Never say never.

I can see how it would be absolutely useful for some couples.  (Disclaimer: I listen to way too much Dan Savage.)  I believe that monogamy isn't necessarily natural for many people, and I can think of several situations in which swinging/sanctioned adultery could help a marriage rather than hurt it.

I am wholeheartedly saying "never" on this one!

  • No. I could never do it. There is no way that I could watch Matt with another woman or even know that he was with another woman. Nope.
  • I don't agree with the idea of satelite relationships. I would also be waaay too jealous to ever try swinging.
    image
  • I don't think I could ever look at the people involved the same again.
  • Not for us. I voted No Way In Hell.

  • Wait. Do glory holes count?
  • No swinging for me...I'm all set with the boyfriend Wink  Just isn't for us but I'm sure it works out well for other couples.

I really agree with this.  It turns my stomach to think about it right now, but in the future?  Who knows.

YEah, could you ever just go out for dinner with them again? I think there would be a whole lot of "will you please pass the penis. OH SHIIT, I mean PEAS."

  • Yeah, that's not for me. Whatever floats your boat and all that, but not for this chick.
  • Absolutely NOT! He's mine and all mine. My only. And I want that for him as well. I want to be his one and only. I am all his, he is all mine. No one else.

I think that type of relationship is just allowing cheating and there is no true love involved in that situation. JMO

  • I don't know that I have any interest in swinging, but, hypothetically--say you're with someone you really love and who really loves you.  You have a good relationship, you are best friends, you have kids, shared finances, and you don't want to leave one another.  One partner gets sick with a chronic illness--like a chronic pain disorder or something that lasts for years.  It saps all their interest in sex, but you still both love and care for each other.  I think in that situation, I might say, "Honey, if you need to get some elsewhere, I understand that."  Husband goes out, has a discreet thing on the side, comes home and cares for his loving wife and family.

    Makes sense to me.

  • Yeah not for me. I guess my personal definition of marriage involves monogamy, so if I were to have the desire to do this I don't think I ever would have gotten married, I just would have had a committed (I guess), non-matrimonial relationship.  Well, I at least wouldn't have had a religious ceremony.

I don't know any swingers that I know of, but I guess sometimes you never know.
