Snarky Brides

It's only Tuesday

Morning all.  Found out yesterday that Big Brother is watching, so no more TK from my work computer.

I think I've convinced my mom to come to town this weekend.  I am going to have to find a way to nicely beat into her skull that she really needs to improve her balance.  She has no reason medically why she should be stumbling, she just freaks out over having to walk on anything but a flat surface.  My brother and sister in law have said that she's basically not welcome at their house until she gets better at walking.  She fell 3 times while visiting and scared the crap out of the kids (ages 7,6 and 2).

Have a good day all!

  • Its only Tuesday, but it's my last day of work until I'm a married lady! Morning all. I have nothing to add except wedding stuff.

Im tired. I stayed up too late reading lastnight despite getting into bed at 10pm. Somehow the time slips away from me. BUT today is the 10th, and that means I have only 4 days of work until total awesomeness this weekend. The set times were released lastnight for the concert and I am just beyond excited. Im rocking out to some Death From Above 1979 right now, but I know no one here knows who that is. You should!

Aside from that, lastnight I managed to get reservations at a Canadian celebrity chefs restaurant in Montreal when we are there. So so so thrilled about that cause I love to eat!!!
  • Im making stuffed shells tonight. I cannot flipping wait.

  • That's weird, BK. Is it a genuine balance problem and that's why she can't walk on flat surfaces, or does she just have a fear of non-flat surfaces and that in turn makes her lose her balance?

It's only Tuesday, but I dn't have to work tomorrow. I have lots of errands to run but at least I can sleep in. I

'm stuck doing a new account today, all day, that's really boring and I'm kind of annoyed. This account made a group of us lose out on a couple hundred bucks on our paycheck last Friday. It's being made up for on the next one, but that's in 2 weeks. I could use that money now. And now I'm worried it's going to keep happening because they can't track everything the way they should.
  • Good morning. I am irritated because the research assistant we hired was initially going to start this week or next week worst case. Then HR lost power for a week and now she won't start until the 30th at the earliest. It will take her at least a month for her to get to the point where she can work independently so at this point my busy summer will be over by then. Awesome.

It's not her fault, HR is just a clusterfuck that was made worse by the outage.

Nebb - I am jealous of your weekend. All I have planned is running errands for the wedding. And hopefully finding the motivation to work out.

  • Bk, that's so weird.  Did something happen to give her a fear of uneven surfaces?

Morning all.  I just now got my first coffee of the day (usually on number 2 by now) because I ran out of creamer at home so I had to wait until I got to work.  It's been a long freaking morning.

H has his LASIK surgery tomorrow morning.  I'm so nervous.  I am way more nervous for him than I was for my own.  Is that weird? He's super excited though, and I know the surgeon is a great one so I'm hoping all goes smoothly.

  • Has anyone here ever had a kidney stone? Because I'm pretty sure I have one and I want to know how long I'm going to feel like I'm dying.
  • Sesh, she has never been really steady. But a few years ago her hip started hurting so she'd lean to compensate. She got a hip replacement and never did her recovery exercises right. Now she doesn't bend her knees when she walks, she just shifts her weight form side to side and shuffles forward. And she legit freaks at stairs or even a 3 inch curb. You can see her tense up. She says she's going to fall so she does. They live in the mountains so she isn't closeto a rehab place. Dad says all she does o is read. He tries to get her to go on walks but she says she has to finish her library book. Everyone is really worried she'll fall and really hurt herself.
  • Morning.  I'm tired.  I overslept my alarm and rushed to get here and now I'm the only one here, again.  Yay.

Tomorrow our team is supposed to be interviewing a new person, but everyone except me and the supervisor is in class, so it's just the two of us.  Should be fun.  We get to go out to lunch.
  • Mara, my aunt used to get them all the time. She said one of the best ways she found to pass one was to drink beer, not sure why though. Have you gone to the doc?

So, I'm nervous. I've been talking to the guy re-publishing my first book and now we're talking about splitting it into 2 books. This is pretty awesome because it means I can make them cheaper (it's a pretty huge book) and I'll have an extra book in the series. But I'm still nervous. We're making so many changes to the original that, while they are for the better, I'm just not used to not having total control.

Good practice for the future, I guess, but still. This book is my baby. It's hard letting it go.
  • I'm freaked out. I was looking in my Grandfathers bible because I was thinking about adding another bible verse. I inherited his bible so as weird as this is, I never wanted to move the page marker he left. The last page he read just so happened to be the exact page I needed. Goosebumps and some years followed. I'm a giant mess right now in general though.

  • Sounds like fate, brandi. That's cool and creepy (creepy in an awesome way though).
  • Sesh, I haven't been to the doctor yet. I suppose I'll go if it gets worse. I'm just being stubborn right now. I mean, the most they could do for it is give me pain meds, right?

Brandi, that is weird, but in a good way.
  • "It's only Tuesday" is the refrain around here too. I spent 7 hours at the hospital last night because this baby is too impatient to stay inside much longer. I started having contractions 3 mins apart and now I'm dilating too. WTF. They released me last night but have summoned me back this morning for an ultrasound and more testing. Sheesh.

I've already told this kid to stay in or he's going to have to sleep in the bathtub. The place is NOT ready for him yet, and neither are we!

I got on the hwy planning to speed cause I was running late and looked in my rearview and 2 cars back was one of the unmarked hwy cop suv's, so I had to drive 120 the whole way here. Effing cops. Also? I've just had to hear my coirker going on for 5 minutes about how her kid is needy and sleeps in her bed every night. Its so bad her bf doesn't even share a bed with her anymore but she seems to think this makes her a caring amazing mother.

I think they did something for my mom that was supposed to break the stone up a bit so it would pass easier. She had a really had time with it. My aunt, she mostly just got pain meds since her issues were related to something else and she just had to deal with them.

sept, I hope the baby keeps cooking!
  • Weird Nebb. How old is the kid? and I laughed when I read "I only got to go 120".  Even in 75 mph, that's still pretty fast. (Most of the freeways here are only 60 or 65mph.)

Anyway. Morning!  I just checked my student loan balances for some reason and TWO of them are now below the 50% point. WOOHOO. Granted, it's the two smallest ones, but the idea of having one less payment/month is awesome.
  • uhoh sept! Tell that baby to keep on baking.  Keep us updated!
  • Mara, I had a friend that used to get them all the time.  Her doctor told her to drink lemonade.  I guess the acid in it helps break the small ones up.

Her kid is 5 and a half. Apparently she has slept with them since she was a baby. Re: my driving, speed limit is 100 but the fast lane generally is 120 to 135km speeds.
  • I don't get attachment parenting. I don't really get 'methods' for parenting though. I mean, isn't the ultimate goal to hope they grow up to be good and that you don't fuckk them up too much?
  • AP has gotten a lot of bad press lately.  Really, if you look at the original 'method' it's not all that crazy. It's placing importance on your childrens' needs- being attentive to what they need at that time.  For some kids, that includes 'baby wearing' (which really, just sounds a whole lot more convenient that anything else.)  If I remember correctly, AP doesn't even condone co-sleeping/bed sharing all the time?

Anyway. Some parents are just favucking nuts.
  • Morning! GL at the docs Sept! Brandi, that's really exciting, its incredibly close. Today I have a busy day of trying to get everything done in time to leave early for our tasting tonight. I'm hoping all goes well and our main dishes taste delish, which I'm sure they will.
  • Definitely cool in a weird way.  It was almost like getting a stamp of approval from him.

JCB- We are pretty much ready.  There are a few small details that I want to still do but if I don't get to them no one will ever know (bathroom baskets, special cupcakes for the RD, stuff like that).

Mara-  I think when my friend had kidney stones they were able to help break them up to pass faster in addition to pain meds.

Coirker claims to not have slept more than 2 straight hours since she had this kid cause she is always touching, poking, pinching and scratching her in her sleep. That's just idiotic that you'd put up with that instead of putting your foot down.
  • Morning!

I think drinking beer to get rid of a kidney stone is probably the best medical advice I've ever heard.  Hey, if it doesn't work, at least you got to drink some beer!

Brandi-Yay!  So close!  At this point before my wedding, I pretty much stopped doing any sort of planning/preparation.  I figured that if it hadn't gotten done by now, it didn't need to be and I was pretty tired of wedding planning by that point anyway.  So good luck!

  • I just drove to the gas station and paid money for a cup of coffee because my effing Keurig isn't working.  Again.  I'm buying a new one.

Coming back to work after vacation is MISERABLE.

  • Yep. I took tomorrow off (we leave Thursday for OOT) so whatever I don't get done, is not getting done.  I should only take me about 2 hours to finish them up so they likely will, but you get what I'm saying.

Nebb- I can't survive on no sleep so there is no way a 5 year old would be in my bed keeping me up all night.  I managed to be just fine sleeping in my own bed.

  • Morning!

I just went on a walk and it's so fucking hot. I'm joining the pool tomorrow. It's only $21 a month and that includes a gym, pool, aerobic classes, and water aerobics. Plus, when the kid is born, it includes babysitting there while working out. I'm over GA heat. Only 3 more years. :-)

Sept- I hope you're doing okay! Hang in there.

And I won't be sharing my bed with Drew. To each their own but it's not for us.

  • Enjoy your tasting lbarr! That has definitely been my favorite part of planning by far.

Sept - I am sending stay put vibes to your baby too!
