See, I'm just the kind of biitch that would tell those kids sternly to sit down and I'd tell their stupid parents that they should mind their children in public. That is, as long as I knew their parents weren't in my guy's chain of command!!! But I feel like Officers tend to be older, and older parents tend to be more attentive. In general. There are so many exceptions, but my FI will be going active as an O-3 and so that means probably the youngest guy who would outrank him would likely be at least 26 years old. That seems old enough to not be a schmuck as a parent!

Haha so true!  But in Jacksonville, there are too many misbehaving children to yell at all of them and their parents.  I like to compare it to visiting hell.  bahah does that make me a bad person? lol

Haha no! I keep saying I want to get the heck out of Cuba (aka Miami). It is terrible down here in a very similar way - parents think their little angels should be able to do whatever they want. I even had a parent of one of my 9 year old sailing students tell me that I can't discipline her daughter (with a stern talking to after the girl let out a vicious verbal attack on another student) because "we pay your salary so you should be taking orders from our daughter, not the other way around." I informed the parent that if she wanted her daughter to be a sailing instructor, she'd have to find a yacht club to hire a 9 year old.

I have to say I really really hate parents that think their children could never do anything wrong!

Oh snap! I would've loved to see the look on their face when you said that. It's a shame how misbehaved the majority of kids are today..makes me scared for the future..

Technically yes.  That is where my fiance is stationed but I just moved back to VA.  But we decided to live in Wilmington.  We can't stand Jacksonville!  If your FH is willing to make the drive Wilmington is the place to be.  Surprisingly a lot of Marines live here and if they don't they drive down here daily.

yeah he refuses to live anywhere near military. The house we have now is about 40 minutes out from the base. We don't WANT to go there next, but it would be the second best choice if he doesn't get his first choice. we'll see though. He loved being in Jax for training, but I hate that weather

Well if he gets stationed in Jax, look for a place in Wilmington.  There is good nightlife, good food, a good mall, and nicer beaches.  Its just nicer in general.

.. woah.. I'm so confused.. have I been trying to hold this convo with you between two seperate board posts?!!? lol ! omg I'm so sorry.. O.o

will do. He wants to buy at the next place we PCS to, too.. but I refuse to let that happen if we get stationed there. I used to visit Tampa all the time and that place has put a bad taste in my mouth for all of florida

I know this happened like 2 months ago, but I was readin through theads, and I can't beleive how incredibly mean/rude/naive you people can be. All I have to say is you all who posted on here should be completely and utterly ashamed of yourselves. People do what they have to do in certain circumstances. Who are we to judge?

They don't HAVE to get married.  Does it make it more convenient at times?  Yep, and so if they choose to, they should get married.  But keep it secret?  Nope.  That's fraud. I don't think that's mean, rude, OR naive.  I think the people who should be ashamed of themselves are the ones who are lying to their families while defrauding the military by claiming married benefits while they are not presenting themselves as a married couple.

I don't understand what's so complicated - we aren't mad at people because they want to get married.  We get really ticked at people who think they deserve a free hand out, who deserves to lie to everyone around them to get money that comes from taxpayers. I'm a taxpayer, so that's who I am to judge someone for cheating our system. And I'm a soon-to-be military spouse, so that's who I am to judge someone for giving military spouses the reputation of being selfish manipulative lying cheating scum.

And in the last 2 months, there have been dozens more posts you could have pulled up.  Digging up dead threads is considered poor forum etiquette.
