How many guests are you inviting to your wedding?

Re: How many guests are you inviting to your wedding?

  • We started out in the low 200s.  We realized that wasn't very feasible towards our wallets and now we have the invitation list down to 150 and we are expecting to be around the 130 mark.  We'll see how close we come!
  • I've got about 120 on my list.  I thought we'd be somewhere around 150.  But we keep hearing more and more people from Montana who actually plan to make the trip, so maybe more towards 175.  ( I didn't count MT in my list, that's FIs list)

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • My last count after I got a little cut-throat yesterday was 171 including the welcome significant others.  Assume based on new friends, new relationships etc to add a few more before invites go out.  Biggest battle is fighting FMIL to not mention the wedding to any more random family members.  Our goal and what we are budgeting for right now is 140.  Which is a 81% "yes" and from what I read fairly high to expect.  Everyone on my side is OOT.  But, FI's side is much larger and everyone is 2-3 hours away.  My side, I was selective and want everyone to come.  FI won't even be able to introduce me to half of his relatives (I'm dreading this...it'll be so embarrassing) but there was no more pushing FMIL back when they are her siblings.  We aren't sending STDs to people who don't have to get on a plane (aka FI's extended fam) so hoping their calendars fill up!

So far, we've managed to keep our list under 120. I have lots of family in Louisiana and Mississippi that won't be able to make the ceremony so keeping it under that number was easier than we thought.

  • We're basing everything off 300, but I think we'll probably end up inviting around 325. Most of our guests will be coming from out of town, and while we're planning on 300, FI thinks it might be closer to 250 (would I would be THRILLED with).

[QUOTE]We started at 299, cut that down to ~150, including bridal party and vendors  (photog, DJ) they have to eat too!

May I just say that this is amazing?!  To nearly cut your guest list in half!  Nice work.
  • We'll have about 25. Immediate family and about 6 friends.

  • We have 90 on the list, and I have to say that will be a pretty firm number, unless people are sick, the people invited will all definitely be there....it is a second wedding, so it is our closest friends, and very immediate family....for which i am glad...lol...first wedding was almost all family, and a few close friends...you know...those aunts and uncles and cousins you don't remember meeting?!!! lol...boy was that a boring night...insert eye roll here!  at least this time around the dance floor will be hopping ;-)
