but for once, it isn't an impatient post about a ring.
I applied for the Alternative Spring Break Program at my school, and I was told I'll find out by November 12 if I was accepted. And yes, I have been checking my e-mail all the time.
So what are you impatient for (that isn't a ring)? How do you cope with the waiting?
The plus side is I only have another day of this waiting.
Re: So impatient...
BTW welcome back, you've been gone and missed around here.

I am impatient for my ring.
But since you asked for something else: I'm impatient for the people I interviewed with yesterday to get back to me and let me know if I'm still in the applicant pool.
I'm impatient about the housing application for the school I'm transferring to. They keep telling me that the website is going to be fixed by the end of the week (and that was last week). I just want to know I have a place to live when I go to school!!!
Edit: Oh yeah, I cope with it by e-mailing the head of the housing department. I don't care if I'm annoying him, because this is a little ridiculous!! AHH!
Haha. When I saw the thread subject line I was like <strong>"oh, Bren, you're twenty years old..."</strong> then I read the post and felt stupid. I am impatient for my ring. Actually... I'm not 20 for another month and a half ;)
School is up. Ugh.It's the craziest time of the year.
Elle, I hope they get back to you soon! And I'm very glad to have my name back too. I'm trying to distract myself with homework (which is NOT working), TK, and a good book. The last two are completely unproductive and make me feel guilty about those 3 essays I have going on... sigh.
Now, Bren, you've got some 'splainin to do. Exactly why didn't you GBCK without telling us? We would have put a stop to that.
ETA: Because I made up a different acronym that no one would get.
JEEZZUS ETA: (X2.) I suck today.
CK is Calorie King, another forum I post on, I got it confused.

Don't go pulling out all the acronyms I don't know... I just got back!
Beth explained it back a few posts. I started to get crazy busy with school, and kinda went "huh, why are you even on TK?" So I found out I could delete it (to get rid of the temptation to post).
Then I went, "you're overthinking this. If you like talking to the girls, who cares if you're on TK?" So I came crawling back.

Ok, now I'm mad at you for quoting me before I could fix it. I made that acronym up. It was a typo, sorry.
However, we decided we're leaving for PA earlier for Christmas so we can come home earlier to pick her up hahaha
Also, I'm impatient for new pictures. The breeder puts new ones up on Saturdays, and she probably opened her eyes this week, so we can know if she has blue eyes or not. So yes.
And a ring. Duh
For Sale
I'm also impatient for this weekend because I get to hang out with my bf and my cousin and her bf whom I haven't seen in forever! My cousin and I were really close growing up and now that she works crazy hours and I'm in grad school and we live 3 hours apart, we never see each other so I'm super excited to see 'em this weekend!
I typically read or hang out with friends or do homework to get my mind off of it. If those don't work, I clean like a mad woman...

You aren't allowed to say that you're reading a good book without sharing the title and author, FYI.

I'm actually re-reading a series I read back when I was 12, maybe?
Protector of the Small by Tamora Pierce. Did any of you read her books? I used to love reading books on lady knights.
Speaking of books, has anyone on here read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? I'm curious about it, but I'm wondering if I should actually pick it up.

Do it, FI's mom gave me the first one and then before I know it I read all three. Hahaha...

Yes! I love the whole series. I couldn't put them down.
Besides those books, I've actually been reading Shakespeare for school. I just finished the Merchant of Venice and next I have to read The Taming of the Shrew, followed by Timon of Athens. I haven't read any of them, and I've loved it so far!
Chapters just had a sale so I picked up some new books. They also had so much Hunger Games stuff! Yes, I'm still encouraging all of you to read that series...
Right now, I'm reading Alice In Wonderland. Chelsea Handler is on deck.
I just got my Kindle, and I'm looking for stuff to upload. I've been consdiering the Tattoo series. Right now, I'm reading Alice In Wonderland. Chelsea Handler is on deck.

I'm jealous you have a Kindle. Do you like it? I believe I might be getting one as a Christmas gift. I'm verrrrry excited about that. But I do love the feel of books and going to book stores...

I've thought about a Kindle myself. I just love the smell of books though, so I'm not sure if I will be asking for one.

I've been holding off on getting an e-book reader for the same reason. I love the look and feel of books. I love being able to trade them around with other people. I love fluttering the pages against my palms. I love watching them fill up the shelves in my apartment.
But I also love the idea of being able to carry hundreds of books around with me. Such a tough decision.
With a Kindle, you can only get books from the Amazon store.
My coworker has a Sony e-reader, and she can "check out" books from her library. That makes me a little jealous.
I hate the fact that I pay for a book, and I can't share it like I would a paperback.
It's super neat though, I love reading on it. I have the 3G one, so I can access the Amazon store on the Kindle and order books directly.
They are considering a Kindle sharing site, which would be nice.
B&N has the Nook, which comes in two versions now the one with black words on a screen, not back lit so your eyes don't get tired, and the colored back lit version. You have 3G service anywhere so you can purchase books anytime you like. The books are pretty cheep and they have over 100,000 free books that you can download. They also have a "Lend" app where you can lend that book to another Nook user. <strong> I love going to the book store too, but I don't like the amount of space that all my books take up.</strong> Plus with my book I can carry all my books with me and read anytime I want. I have like 3-4 books right now that I am reading concurrent with one another. So that's another option. I like it better than the kindle cause of I'm a loyal buyer at Barnes and Noble, and when you're in B&N you can use the wi-fi with your nook. Another option to think about.

Yepp, that's my reasoning too. Actually, I'm not sure we have B&N here in Canada... I've never seen one before anyways.
I don't mind that Kindle only works with Amazon, because I loove Amazon anyways. I did also look at the Kobo with Chapters/Indigo.
Lyn - How much are the books for the nook? Also, if you have a BN membership, does that discount apply to ebooks too?
Posted by Elle1036
Bren if you love amazon all the better! You can always check out the Nook online and order it to be shipped to Canada. The books are purchased online so I don't see a problem with it working for you in Canada.
Elle: Depends on the book, for some series like the Dresden files by Jim Butcher I can't help myself and have to buy it as soon as it comes out so new releases that usually cost me $25+ as a hard cover are like $ 9-12 as e-books. Then already released books that are older titles or paper backs cost between $1.99 and $7.99. But like I said they have a list of over 100,000 books that are free to download, from classics to modern mystery and other fiction and non fiction. I'm not sure if the B&N members get a discount on the e-books, as crazy as it sounds I'm not a member, even tho its my second home. I'm odd like that.
