Ok, what did ya get?

"joy of spending time together", "reason for the season", yeah, we get that. Now, what awesome shiit did you get?

I got:
(from H)
Office chair for my craft room
Key shaped necklace with black diamonds (flecks)
2 different kinds of perfume

Gift card to Khols, movies, Macaroni Grill

Awhile back, my parents gave us a gift certificate for one week's vacation, anywhere in the US. So we would have stuff to open, they collected all the free stuff they got from banks and whatnot. We got calculators, pedometers....lol

I used my Khols gift card to buy a Keurig mini!!

Re: Ok, what did ya get?

  • I got some nice sweaters, a cute necklace & earring set, a pashmina scarf, some cash and gifts cards - which H and I used to buy that Canon Rebel digital SLR camera. :) I was playing with it all night last night!
  • H and I got a 3-day trip to Disney from my mom and dad (they did a joint gift). We knew it was coming, but now it's official. Less than a month for our vacation!

As a gag gift from my dad, I got a TMNT snuggie and H got a Raphael hat (the kind that covers your ears for winter). As a kid I always said I was going to marry Raphael the TMNT, so now I can tease H about being my turtle. Oh, and my grandparents got us a quesadilla maker that I can't wait to use.

    YAY! I got:
A nook, a calorie counter watch, an authentic Adrian Peterson Jersey, golf balls -- and lots of them, sweaters, pajamas, some cold hard cash, gift cards, sweater boots, slippers, A nook cover and nook light, money to buy a new digital camera, perfume, a robe, booze, a necklace, scarves, socks, a new belt, some long sleeve T's, some Vikings gear, and my mom, of course, continues to buy me holiday decorations and towels hoping that one day I'll decorate. Not likely. IT WAS AN AWESOME CHRISTMAS!!

  • The best gift was a Kindle from my parents and H.  I already downloaded a bunch of free books from Amazon onto it, and I'm reading "Mansfield Park" right now.  Love it!

I also got a couple of beads for my Pandora bracelet, a $50 gift certificate to a knitting store from my sister, books, DVDs, some shoes for work, and a cashmere scarf from H's nana.

  • Fun stuff! LVB, I love hearing what people got too :)

H got me Lego Harry Potter for PS3. I'm very happy with that.

From assorted family members, we got some house stuff - mugs, tablecloth, little condiment tray. Also a hideous box in the shape of a flower that I think I maaaybe would have liked at age 9. It's pink and purple with a ballet slipper on top. This was from one aunt and uncle, and I have no idea why they thought I might like this at all. Frankly I feel like maybe they knew I wouldn't like it and just got it to check something off the list, but damn. It is ugly. And it already broke actually (the slipper fell off), which I just found amusing.
  • I love my DSLR, even though mine is a Nikon and they are sooo far superior to Cannon ;)

Actually the only difference I can tell is that everything is reversed. My first camera was a Canon film DSLR

  • Holy crap, Fish! Things like that make me really regret that we don't have a big family :/

  • Emily, WTF? I wish you had a picture of it. :)

Oh! As always, Scott gave me ornaments.
I got this one on our way home on Thursday:

  • Fish Christmas is ridiculous.

And I'm probably going to get a Kindle from my dad, but I don't have it yet. He said to think of something I want, and he'll give it to me when we go home in March, and right now what I want is a Kindle.

You're going to love your Rebel. I have one and it takes GREAT pictures. People actually hired me to do their Christmas cards this year :-) Enjoy!!!

  • Go for it, Em.  I love mine, and I've only had it two days.  The best part is that most of the "classics" are free on Amazon, or only 99 cents, so I was able to get a bunch for practically nothing.

My dad says I have one more gift from Amazon which hasn't arrived yet, and I'm hoping it's the cover for the Kindle, because I really don't feel good about leaving it unprotected.  If not then that's where some of my Christmas money is going.

  • I got some wine (woot!), a couple jewelry pieces from my mom, she also did some needlepoint towels for me and my SIL, so we have hand towels for every holiday now basically lol.  My parents got H & I the Biggest Loser Challenge for Wii!!  I got the Twilight dvd for one of our family grab bag gifts!

H got me an old movie collection (fitting since our reception theme was Old Hollywood), a cookbook, a 5 lb bag of sour cherries (addicted to them!!) and a personalized Pirates (baseball) jersey. #13 (my bday & lucky/favorite number) and my nickname on the back. So it's pretty sweet.

It was really cute, on Christmas Eve my cousin's 9 year old daughter gave me an ornament. My cousin said that since I made an ornament for all the kids last year, her daughter wanted to make me one. So cute!

  • I don't really have a big family! It's just me and my two brothers and our significant others and my mom her boyfriend, and we did a totally separate Christmas with my dad Christmas eve. I don't have any aunts or uncles and all but one of my grandparents have passed. Well, I have two aunts, but one is a train wreck and the other spends Christmas with her kids in St. Cloud.

My mom's boyfriend had three kids, but they aren't usually around for the holidays, and if they are, it's for very short spurts, but Santa brings a household gift on top of our other Santa gifts, so their names get put on Santa present, too. :)

  • We got a new tv, from my dad.
2 different sets of earings from J.
My SIL got me a new bra. (It's a pretty one from VS that I wanted.)
I got some giftcards: Kohls, Target, a Visa and a Amex.
Some cute VS Pink pajama sets from my mom.
    A few collage picture frames.
    U of Miami garden gnome.

  • Still big compared to mine! We don't have any siblings, his uncle is never around and I don't care for my aunt and uncle. So when we have Christmas, its each set of parents and us. And we do 2 different times with them. I 'hosted' Christmas eve dinner and it was only 4 people!

Luckily, you're family is expanding by three, so you'll have big Christmases soon enough!

  • My dad and his girlfriend bought her daughter a Nook for Christmas. She checked it out for a few minutes, then got sad and asked if she could still read "real" books whenever she wanted to. I'm not sure she quite understands what it is or why it will benefit her (she carries 2 or 3 books around all the time).
  • Aww, that makes my heart hurt. Hopefully after she uses it for awhile, she'll 'get it'. Although I just couldn't get with a Nook. Kate has a nook color and I just can't deal. It's too much like my iTouch, on a bigger scale.

  • Awww, Seshat!  She'll figure out the benefits when her bag is much lighter without carrying all the paper books!

Ha, yeah I'm sure she'll get used to it. I think she thought they were taking away her books because her mom said, "Now you don't have to worry about an overflowing bookshelf anymore!" So, she got scared she was going to lose all her books.
  • We hit up the 50% off sale at this garden center/ Christmas central place near my aunt and uncle's.  I spent $120 AFTER my 50% off.  Although it included some gift stuff for people we're not seeing until after the holidays.  But I started gathering decorations for my 4th tree.  I almost bought a fake pre-lit tree, but H talked me down.
  • Geeze! We have one tree and not enough to really fill it up!  I think we're going to start buying each other ornaments so we're not stuck with the cheap plastc balls.

<div>I'm fine except for a killer sore throat and congestion, which are totally unrelated. We are still really early so I expect the pukiness to start in a couple weeks. </div>
