S/O Intro: Rate the Snark!

I want to discuss the snark levels people assigned themselves and see if other people agree.

So, re-post your self-rating here so we don't have to go back to the Intro thread, and then everyone can discuss.

Yes?

I rated myself a 6. Accurate or not?

I rated myself a 5... Although...maybe that's kinda high for me..  I'm usually pretty quiet and don't get into anything unless it REALLY upsets me.

I think a 6 might be about right for you desert.  Hehe.

I put myself at a 4 but I'm thinking that's high for me - I try to play nice

You guys all think you're soooo snarky. But obviously I'm the snarkiest of all. Obviously.

I rated myself a 2. I think it's accurate. What do you think?

You guys all rated yourselves WAY too high, in my opinion. I mean, when have you ever posted anything snarky?

I'd give Jeter maybe a 3...... Sapphire a 2 or 3. Desert is more snarky, but I dunno about a 6..... well... maybe a 6. On a particularly crazy day.

Teehee.... Yes, I realized after you commented about our snark rates that mine was a bit too high.  I just can't live up to the 5 rating of snarkiness, just not that cool I guess...
  • edited December 2011
I mean, heck... I don't think ANYONE here is a 10. Not the regulars, anywho.

I feel like snark means something different to everyone.  I hate that word.

Desert and Sapphire, I've seen you get worked up over some topics, so I don't think you're too far off.  Maybe a little higher for Saph :)

Beth and Jeter - I think that's high for you, but I don't know how we're supposed to judge it anyway.

I said 5-9 for me because there are some things I just can't be bothered to care about, but if it's a topic that really bothers me I won't hesitate to let someone know.

Actually, I feel like Sapphire's been a bit feisty on some of the newb posts lately. She's usually not very snarky, but I remember being surprised at some of her posts recently. So I think a 4 is about right.

    And I'd give Jeter a 3, I think.

2-3 is about right for Jeana, IMO.

Desert I think I'd put you around 5-6 and Jeter around a 4.

Jeana you're just too sweet and laid back to be anything higher than 2 maybe 3

Yeah I've been pretty irritable lately - my job sucks and keeps DH and I from spending a lot of time together so it's been bugging me lately.

I would rate myself a five. I have done an intro, I don't people to know anything about me... Or it could be shear laziness.

Desert, I think 5-6 is correct for you, if there is a serious issue I know that you will throw the proverbial bucket of water on any one of us. That's one of your best qualities as a internets person. Jeana-- 2 on the board, but 7 in real life Tongue out Ana and Sapph you both are right on.

I may not be good at judging other people's snark, because I just plain don't care as long as they're not outright attacking somebody for no good reason.

It just doesn't even register to me.

    LOL @ 7 IRL.

That may actually be true. I'm quite a bit more sarcastic and I tend to blow up without holding back sometimes. But this is my happy place. <3

Well, this and online video games. I'm pretty snark-less there, too. But who needs snark when you wear chainmail and carry a mace?

Pretty much. You try to be the sweet voice of reason, but you aren't afraid to throw down in the face of persistent BSCness.

I didn't fill out the intro thingy.

I am not sure what I would rate myself.  I know I am on the higher end.  Innocent Maybe an 8 or 9.  I prefer to think of it as brutally honest.

P.S. Is it snarky that my own mother is annoying the piss out of me by snoring on MY couch?  She flew across the country to see me, and she is taking a nap.    She is only here until Sunday night.

I don't notice people's snark as much as I notice people's non-snark.  Like if I read a post that makes me go "Whaaat?", I'll notice if someone answers it with a "staight-face".  I'm not sure if that makes any sense.

And Jeana, I would definitely rate you higher in snark off of NEY.  And I do NOT consider that a bad thing at all.

I love that Desert can come in and bring anyone down to reality.  You have a great way of doing it.
  • edited December 2011
    That makes sense, Ana.

Mutley, I'd believe an 8 or 9 for you. You say it like it is, and sometimes you COULD be nicer if you WANTED to be, but you just can't be bothered to (which is totally cool, because I love that about you).

And I don't think pregnancy has altered your snark at all, btw.

Hesthup, even the dogs are being quiet.  Grrrr.  I need to go shopping for my hostess gift.  (I went to the store it was supposed to be at and they were out.  Stupid person on the phone with incorrect information!!)  Now my mom wants to go with me.  I don't feel like dealing with her criticism/input.  I want to sneak out while she is sleeping but don't feel like hearing her crapola afterwards.
    SERENITY NOW!!

On a positive note, my toes look very non-snarky with a bright pink polish.

And I don't get why people think that the only reason you're snarky is because you're pregnant - I've never known anyone that's had that much of change just because of being pregnant.

Ha ha, I am kind of impatient and sometimes can't be bothered to put things nicely. I can get cranky. So I think that takes me up a level on the snarkometer.

But usually I try to be constructive. I do genuinely care about people and want to be helpful. To me, helpful means making someone see their own situation more clearly, or to see it from a different angle, so that they can make better decisions and have healthier relationships. I don't believe in engaging in pettiness, holding grudges, manipulation, etc. Honesty and compassion are SO important to healthy relationships.

Yup, I'm with Jeana and Sapphire. I was here before Mutley was preggers, and you were the same way then. If anything, your happiness in your own life and sharing lots of those happy moments with the board has made you more approachable.

Desert's ticker makes me feel anxious... but that may just be me projecting.

Remember when it seemed like everyone was getting engaged like crazy? Now it's like everyone's getting married right in a row.

I'm so excited for you, though! I hope we'll get to see some pics. Laughing

I wouldn't say Ana is as high as she guesses, but maybe I just need to pay more attention.

Hmm, yeah I think 9 is pretty high for Ana. I'd say anywhere from 2-7 depending on how interested she is.

And Kat has to be on the low end, right? :)

And yeah, my ticker makes me feel both excited and a bit anxious. I have SO much to do still! Hopefully I'll have some time tomorrow to update the to do list and make some calls.

I'm sure I will have people posting pics to my facebook almost immediately, so maybe PM me sometime between now and July 14 if you want me to add you there so you can see them? I don't know how much time we'll have before leaving for the HM. (Have I mentioned how much I'm looking forward to Hawaii?!)
