i need help/advice on how to drop some pounds by my wedding date - aug. 6th. i know to cut out sodium, sugar, some carbs etc. but is there anything else?
i've thought of slimquick & a "clense system" both of which scare me kinda. i mainly want to slim down in the belly and love handles.
i tend to lose weight by just changing eating habits, not excercising - from what i've noticed in the past. i had to have lost 10 lbs being depressed after my father passed away. i still go through moments of that, but need a true solution on dropping some of this quick --- no plasitc sugery unfortunately for me - i'll have to pass on that -- lol.
Re: lose weight by august 6th!!!
Increase your activity and watch what you eat. That's really the only thing that will work, short term or long term. Good luck!
I would highly recommend that you track your food either through a free site like MyPlate (through Livestrong.com) or Sparkpeople or something like Weight Watchers. Diet makes up the biggest portion of weight loss, so knowing how much to eat, and how much you're actually eating is very important.
As for what to eat (or not eat) focusing on whole, natural foods, and avoid processed things. The "cleaner" you eat, the better.
As for losing weight by a certain date, healthy, sustainable weightloss happens at a rate of 1-2 lbs (or 1% of your body weight) a week. So if you keep on top of your calories and eat good quality, nutritious food, you could lose 10-12 lbs by August 6.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
that was really helpful & encouraging. as of right now my self-esteem about my weight is at an all time low. everyone wants to look amazing on their wedding day and maybe i just haven't been thinking about how it will ultimately look on aug. 6th.
ps. thanks for the websites, i'll check them out.
While it's not as awesome for weight loss, the book The New Rules of Lifting for Women seriously changed my outlook on exercise and nutrition. For a more fat/weight loss centred approach, I'd suggest The Female Body Breakthrough.

"The thing I've found that's helped me feel the best about my body is weight lifting. Heavy weights. The combination of building muscle, lifting some seriously heavy things, and seeing more definition is just empowering and awesome."
It took me a few months to notice any weight loss, but I made huge progress in weight lifting. I started to see definition in my arms and just felt better overall. I would recommend lifting for sure.
