I've got two showers coming up in different cities, one at the end of the month and one in the first week of August. The wedding is August 21st. We've requested on our registry that if people would like to purchase a gift, they do it so that we can pick it up from the store in the city we live in, as opposed to the cities where the showers or wedding are taking place. My question is whether I am still required to send the thank-you cards within three weeks after the showers take place, even though I won't actually have received most of the gifts until I am back here at the beginning of September. I'd appreciate some advice on what to do, here.

[QUOTE]When I check my online registry I can see what items were bought, but not who bought what. I can't find that out until I go to the store to pick it up and they give me the card that comes along with it.

Can you go to the store in your area - for a print out of who bought what? Since it's a national chain, they should be able to do this.
Else, I guess wait until September, and do a mass thank you :)

ETA: I just reread and see that you will p/u the gifts after the showers. So, my original question stands: what are you going to open at the showers?

[QUOTE]WHat are you going to open at the showers or are you picking everything up and bringing it with you to the showers? I'm confused. ETA: I just reread and see that you will p/u the gifts after the showers. So, my original question stands: what are you going to open at the showers?

<div>There will probably be some lighter-weight gifts at the showers, or gifts that aren't from the registry (so people didn't see the request). Also among my family members most wedding-related gifts consist of cash. So I realize I will be able to send some of the thank yous right away, but my question is regarding the ones for the gifts that were purchased off the registry to be picked up in the city I live in.</div>
I bet you get more gifts at the shower than you think.
[QUOTE]Just send the thank you card when you pick up the gifts. I don't see any other way for you to do it. I bet you get more gifts at the shower than you think.

<div>Well, maybe so, which will be a relief because I can do the thank you cards earlier as opposed to later. In terms of having to travel with a bunch of items, the store has said that as long as it's not TOO many items, we can bring them to the store in one city and pick them up at the store in my city. Assuming they're from that store, of course.</div>
