Personally, a tattoo is too much commitment. I have a hard enough time trying to pick out furniture or a pair of shoes that will be in my life for a short period of time. I couldn't stand the thought of picking out a tattoo that will be on my body for the rest of time. And, I don't handle pain well.
But, that being said, I don't mind if people get tattoos. It's just not my cup of tea. I like it when the tattoos have a meaning behind them. Not, I got a tattoo of Tweety because he is my favorite cartoon.

I've got a tattoo of elephants because they are my favorite animal.
I have two . . . not sure if I have any pictures of them on this computer. The first is a small one on my inner left ankle - it is a sun done in black ink. The second is a very large one on my right side between my hip and bra line - it is a koi fish with traditional waves and cherry blossoms surrounding it, and it has lots of colors.
I don't regret either of them - I love my tattoos. Both have special meaning, which I think is important (at least to me) when considering putting something permanent on your body. I'd love to get a few more, but I haven't thought of anything "good" enough.
ETA: I found a picture of my fish, but not of my sun. Please ignore my Cat-in-the-hat pj bottoms.
I love tattoos with special meaning...but mine doesn't. I picked it because I thought it was pretty...LOL. I still love it though, I always thought of it more of an accessory than anything.
I had an idea for a meaningful tattoo, but I made the mistake of telling my sister and then she went and got it....
I have 4. I may get more once I have kids for them but I am not really sure. Other than that I am done.
I do not have and pics of all of them right now since I am at work but I will try to add the others when I get home.
Mandarin for hope and faith.
This is the intern Ming who wrote them for me. He was here on a student visa from China.
I have one on my front right hip of a trinity symbol inside of a blue, tribal sun. Me, my mom and my two sisters all have a tattoo of the trinity symbol symbolizing family.
My last one is of a cross with vines and orange day lilies wrapping around it. It is on the lower half of my back, off to the left hand side of my spine.
I do not regret them. If I could I may change the one that is on my hip so it would be a little prettier but I would not want it gone. FI does not really care for tattoos but I had them all before I met him so he accepts them. I love my tattoos those. especially the one on my back.
I would love to get a tattoo but I don't think there is anything I would like on y body forever. If I did get one, I'd get an e on my ankle under the bone.
My dad told me if I ever got a tattoo, he would cut it off with a knife. When he chased me with pliers after I got my belly button pierced, I decided against tattoos until he's old enough where I can outrun him.
I've toyed with the idea of getting one, but I don't want the "forever" permanence of one. If I do get one, I'll get a hummingbird on the back of my neck. My mom drew the hummingbird a few years ago.
She has a coloured rose tattoo on her ankle along with "Bren" which she got when I was little.
I have two, one on the middle of my back and one on my foot.
I work in an office so they are in places I can hide at work, plus they wont show when I have my wedding dress on if I go with a strapless dress which is what I am planning on looking for
got this one when i was 18, I am Irish, its a Celtic knot for eternal love.
this is 5 shooting stars (5 people in my fam, each one is in their favorite color) sorry my foot looks gross ive had boots on all day and just took this pic at my desk.
I love seeing everyone elses! Is anyone else addicted like I am?

I LOVE TATTOOS!!! I even did my undergrad thesis on tattoos. I have 6 of them. All of them have meaning. I also have 9 piercings
#1 - comedy/tragedy masks on my hip
#2 - rabbit; my Chinese zodiac on my ankle
#3 - Viva La Vie Boheme from "Rent" on my Achilles
#4 - "Peace within my heart" on my neck
#5 - lyrics from Panic at the Disco's "That Green Gentleman"
#6 - American Culinary Federation logo, for my dad, who was a member, on my calf
I don't think I have any regrets. Sometimes if I'm wearing a nice dress I'll wish my back or leg tattoos weren't there but they've become a part of me, so I live with them.
My hip tattoo needs to be touched up though. It was my first and the artist's heart was just not in his work, I guess. Other people that I met who have been tattooed by him have had complaints. Luckily, my tattoo shop does touch ups for free.
I'm done with tattoos for now. I think I'm a few years away from tattoo #7.

I have one on my tummy/hip. I don't regret the tattoo, just the placement. It should have been lower, but I was so nervous I didn't realize until after. Also, my whole life I didn't think I wanted kids, so I thought a tattoo in that region would be fine. Now that FI and I think we want one I know it will stretch and be pretty bad after.

I have 5...to which all but 1 have meaning. My first one I don't have a pic of and it's the one that has no meaning for me, just a "ooohh that's pretty"
My Coast Guard Tat...The colors in the handle and the skull are from my company in bootcamp..
It's a tribal swallow, for love, family. No matter where they are in the world they will always return home.
this was a cover up tatt...They're dogwood tree flowers..Lots of meanings to that that I don't feel like going into right now.
I have another that has my dog's name on it Buddy, with angels wings since he died.
SeaTea- The one on my hip is in a pretty similar place as yours. Mine is a little lower so it is pretty much cut in half when I wear a two piece bathing suit. Mine even has a pretty similar blue around the central image too.

I am not a tattoo person. I can't think of anything that I love enough to have on my body for the rest of my life. (at least not right now) By no means am I against them, usually people have some great stories/memories, but it's just not my thing. BF has 5 though...he keeps saying 1 more and he'll have to join the circus! ha ha
Narwal - yours is my favorite in this thread so far! I think it's so amazing that you drew it yourself...
Ahem...anyways...I have a tattoo. It's a triquetta and it's on my shoulder....I haz no pic.

I don't have any - I debated for a few years getting one of a modified claddaugh since it has a lot of personal meaning for me. I still haven't decided one way or the other - it would be about the size of a quarter on my hip around my underwear line, and just an outline. Let's see if I can sketch something to look like what I wanted...
BF keeps talking about getting a USMC tattoo when he goes active duty - I'd rather he not, but it's up to him. If he gets one, I'll probably get this one.

I have one on my lower back, I put it there before I knew what a tramp stamp was.... *face palm* its of a henna colored beta fish. I was fresh out of college with a Bachelors in Marine Biology working at an aquarium where I got to SCUBA dive, kayak, surf and teach kids on the beach about fish and the ocean. This was how my life was going to be. So I wanted a tattoo that symbolized that. Some of my marine biology friends have the funniest one. One has a cow and a rock fish, another friend has a copepod and a committed friend has a whole coral reef, octopus and all along his left arm that winds up to his chest that has yellow, pink and blue in it that shines under a black light.
No pictures that I have with me now. I do want another one, something like this
or perhaps a lotus to symbolize Vietnam and Buddhism.
I have one and its on my shoulder blade. It looks kinda like kdwyer's but the trinity is flipped over. It looks more like it has wings and a tail rather than the trinity. sorry no pic.
I started drawing it on paper while I was in high school and seemed to have a slight obsession with drawing it for like two years before I ever thought about getting it as a tattoo. Even then I waited another year before I finally got it. I got it about a month after my grandma died. She was born and raised in Ireland and I loved just listening to her talk.
