What are you doing for Easter?

Re: What are you doing for Easter?

  • We're going to my parents' house for dinner.  My brother and dad are Catholic, so they do the religious aspect of it.  My mom just likes cooking giant meals and having us all together.  She bought enough ham for at least 20 people, but there will only be four of us (brother lives across the country).

I bought her a giant milk chocolate bunny from a local chocolatier.  The thin is ten inches high, three inches wide and is SOLID.
  • Eating a sh*tton of Peeps, and then getting my religion in for the day by begging the lord Jesus to make me stop vomiting in Technicolor.

  • No egg decorating or baskets for me but if I am feeling ok din at the ils tmrw
  • Scott and I will be going over to my parents house tomorrow.  My mom always puts together a basket for everyone, and makes us find it, and then the kids find eggs.  She personalizes the baskets so hopefully I get nail polish again.  :D

    I'm making this cake today:

Easter cake is kind of weird I guess, but my dad's birthday was on wednesday so cake it is!
  • I'm playing quality control agent with all the fixings going into the Easter baskets I'm making for my kiddos and my nephew. So far, the Snickers eggs, Bunny ear Kit Kats and Reese's eggs have all passed inspection.
  • Kim are those bunnies fondant or cookies?  That cake looks yummy!

  • Kim, text me a pic of the cake when you're done!
  • Today we visited with my parents and got our Easter baskets from my mom. Oh, and the baskets were ceramic bowls that match my kitchen stuff. My mom is adorable. We'll go to Easter vigil mass tonight. FI made me buy plastic easter eggs and we independently bought each other candy for the insides. So tomorrow we are having an Easter egg hunt. I think it's kind of odd for just the two of us, but it makes him happy and I get candy so win win.
  • Sherr, I think they are cookies in that picture.  I'm doing sugar cookies with royal icing.

[QUOTE]Any plans? Did you/will you dye eggs? Pictures if you did? Do you do Easter baskets?

Everybody's coming to our house....thanks to my evil MIL and mother! I'm only kidding when I say evil because they're best friends and I love them both dearly, but I was only given 3 days notice. I just dyed 60 eggs by myself....DH is passed out on the couch. We WERE supposed to go to the mall and get pictures done, but of course that went out the window when we spent the whole day in the ER. Randy and I got an Easter basket for our little niece Saylor and her 3rd birthday is tomorrow so we made it a little extra special this year. And I guarantee I'll lose my mind if it thunderstorms tomorrow. Our place is already going to be cramped enough with 50 people inside and out on the deck.

  • We're having both sets of parents and our siblings and their SOs over.

Our microwave died a few days ago. We went out today to buy one that goes over the stove. Little did I know he was going to install it right away. It's not going well in there. My kitchen is torn apart and I have 12 people coming over tomorrow!! :(
  • Nuggs, I almost choked when I read your Easter plans. DH was a bit concerned :-)

I honestly don't know what's going on tomorrow. The original plan was to have dinner with H's parents, sister, and nephew, and then later the two of us head to my aunt's house for dessert with my parents, aunts, uncle, cousin, and grandma. We're eating dinner with his parents around 3, and we were planning to head over for dessert around 5. Then the other day my mom calls MIL and says that they're going to stop by for dessert with everyone around 5 (at IL's house). So...that isn't going to work. I have no idea how tomorrow will play out, but I guess we'll find out!

But hey, at least I have a cute new dress and a fierce pair of yellow heels to wear during the whole thing :-)

  • We are going to FI's parents.  Our parents are good friends so my family will be there too.  I made Easter baskets for his neice and two cousins and went way overboard.  I've been told once we're married and have our own kids I'm going to have to tone down my Easter shopping.  He's going to have to get over that :)
