[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Someone talk to me : Yeah, I actually need to make an appointment.  I saw them in April.  I was re-tested, as well--I react to 40 of 46 common upper Midwest environmental allergens.  I wanted shots, but they wanted to try me on a nasal spray and Singulair first...which is working great on my allergies, and USUALLY works well for my asthma, but some days are worse than others. And to be fair?  I had 4 sodas today.  If I have GERD, I'm pretty sure I pissed it off real good.

<div>You just punched GERD in the face and insulted its mom.  GERD is fighting back and you totally deserve it.</div><div>
</div><div>I pretty much gave up soda in 1996 thanks to GERD.</div>

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Someone talk to me : Mine was reactive airway disease too until my testing.  It's what they call everyone's until they test "positive" for asthma.  It's kind of dumb, because it's the SAME DAMN THING but having reactive airway disease instead of asthma makes it more difficult to get medication/treatment/etc, and to get it paid for.

<div>Yes, exactly. Although maybe now with the new healthcare laws, it might not matter. Not sure. But I was thankful for the RAD diagnosis instead of the dreaded 'A-word.' She does really well with it now unless she goes to a stable or farm or something like that. So she just takes her nebulizer and inhaler along when she goes to those places.</div>

  • When I first came down to the US, H used to keep soda in the house, and I would drink it. I never ever had it around as a kid, so when I started drinking it that often, I would wake up in the middle of the night with the back of my throat burning like I was just about to throw up. Blargh. I still refuse to drink carbonated stuff more than maybe 1 a day, and I usually can't finish that.

Well, until tonight, I had no idea I might have GERD.  It is news to me, completely.  I hardly ever get heartburn.

That's exactly the reaction I had when I found out about gluten issues.  I spent 25 years of my life thinking it was normal to feel bloated, crampy, and uncomfortably full for the rest of the day after eating one piece of toast for breakfast.  I convinced myself I was overeating constantly.

  • J, I never got heartburn either-until the hiatal hernia appeared. Glad your husband could make you a bit more comfortable. Also, thanks for the calzone recipe.
Wally,I'm so glad about your dad. And that cheesecake is awesome. All the recipes on that site are good.
FI is playing a new visogame he bought, so back to knotting for me.

I had to be tested for GERD before I had sinus surgery a few years back. She wanted to make darn sure what was irritating my throat was drainage coming down and not reflux coming UP. It was not so pleasant. And I didn't have it. So, had my sinuses roto-rooted. Also not so pleasant, but effective.

ETA: Thanks Zizi. So freakin' relieved.

Drinking soda doesn't make me feel like I'm dying, except that I guess it does, maybe.  But I love my Diet Dr Pepper in all its acidic, caffeinated, chemical glory.  Hmpf.

  • J, I mean, soda is delicious and all.  It's almost worth it sometimes.  From a fountain though, not a can or bottle.  Fountain doesn't make me feel quite as schitty.

Sesh, Try it with an "N"  Noelle is hard to alliterate without using narcotic or narcoleptic.
