I flame a friend's bridal party...
Yes, I realize you all live 30min to 6 hrs away - but maybe you should have discussed the fact that you wouldn't be particularly involved with the bride to be earlier... Now, I'm the one attending dress fittings and planning a bachelorette party (with the help of another of her friends).
I honestly don't mind and enjoy doing it - but feel bad for the bride to be. Super sweet girl that I have fun with - and it is my sickness as well that I find wedding activities fun:)
Lesson: Just because someone is family, you shouldn't feel obligaged to include them in your wedding party - stick to those you know you can depend on (friend or family).

I usually take Homecoming Friday off. I give up part of Sunday (or our Fair Day in many cases) to come decorate the hall and then I spend the rest of the week building a float. I came today because I started with ten and I'm already down to six for the year. I hate the bells. They drive me crazy. And then I start thinking about the poem by Edgar Allen Poe "The Bells". The tintinabulation of the bells, bells, BELLS.

I think sometimes brides (myself ABSOLUTELY included) get a little too hung up on all of the sentimental stuff from the wedding.

The sand jar discussion actually reminded me of this, ironically.

I've come to realize that the most of my wedding stuff that I "just HAD to have" and now "just CAN'T part with" now resides in a rubbermaid tub in my spare bedroom.

My living room currently has a 20x30 canvas from our wedding, a 16x20 framed engagement photo, 2 - 5x7 framed wedding photos, our album, and our engagement sign in book in it....and I have another 16x24 canvas bridal on the way (don't worry..I'm not hanging that one right now). Granted... when I get a house with a formal dining room and a study then it will get all nice and spread around...but good lord what was I thinking? I LOVE my pictures, but seriously it looks like my wedding threw up on my house

Ok... that was more of a self reflection than a flame on anyone else. Sorry about that.

Julie - I didn't watch it except sporadically for 2 whole seasons. In fact, when Izzie saw the dead guy was the last time I remember watching regularly. I swore it off because it just got WAY too off the deep end for me.

I watched the premier last week though and I like it a lot more. They have calmed down a bit.

I worry I will be the same way so I have commited to FI that we will have one large B&W canvas from our wedding, our sand ceremony jar with an 8x10 on each side in the living room and one or two pics in the bedroom and nothing more. I hope I can stick to this.

We are just in transition right now so I don't want to buy any real decor until we get our house. So, the photos are just filling blank space for now.

I got this way cause St. Elizabeth's wouldn't allow a ton of things I wanted. United candle, aisle runner, and such. Someone Flamed me one day on my month board and now I realize how stupid all those things really were and I'm actually glad I don't have to buy it and deal with it. I think when you step back is the only time you notice how "stupid" you are really being about all of it.

Oh how I needed this post today!

So, 3 weeks till the wedding and I am annoyed with our venue. Here's the deal, we have over 40 rooms booked their by our guests and they can't seem to give us a free room? Seriously????

Then we are having an after party for our friends up in the penthouse and we asked for a discount on the booze so we didn't have to pay 9.00 for a drink!! Come on....is that too much too ask?

We are spending enough there on our reception, ceremony, open bar, food, and all our guests are there and they can't work with us!

We have made cuts and not once have they lowered their prices on anything.

UGH!

Ooh, Michelle, that is harsh. The Melrose gave us the bridal suite for Saturday and even gave me a suite for the night before at the regular room rate.

We are staying at the Stoneleigh for my boss' wedding and let me just say that for the price, it better be something.

I flame people on here that feel entitled to things. That is all I'm saying about that.

I flame myself...I wish I had gone to college or had aspirations to "be something." Being a legal secretary is interesting and all, but sometimes I feel like a servant or bottom of the social ladder at work because I don't have a degree.

I used to watch Teen Mom on Wednesday mornings during the summer when no one was here. We missed most of Big Bang last night and I had planned on watching it at work today but haven't so far.

I didn't get into GA until the second season because I thought it was going to be the stupidest thing ever and Izzie seeing dead Denny (and Katherine Heigl in general) turned me off. I gave up last season but I'm really liking this season so far. I was bummed Mark didn't get to talk to Lexie.

We got new computers at work today with Windows 7 I think and a HUGE monitor. Don't know how I feel about it.

There's a lot of Teen Mom talk on the Entertainment board with the article about Amber. They even said some moms on The Bump were reporting her to CPS.

I work at the 2nd Court of Appeals in Fort Worth. The attorneys that work for my judge are really nice but some of the other ones (we have 14 total) are just stuck up sometimes. Where do you work at?

Ooh, I have always wanted to be a Judge's secretary. I've even applied a few times in the past but I never even got a call back.

I work for a boutique firm in Uptown. My attorney and one other guy broke off from a big downtown firm and I came with him. I've worked for him for 11 years now and my other one for over five.

Entitled to things?? Yeah that's a flame. So are you saying that if I go to a car dealership I should buy at sticker? Or am I not entitled to get a discount? That's the business. As a customer I am entitled to be happy and feel as if I am getting a fair deal.

Now maybe there was a post on here earlier that went way beyond what was resonable acceptable. Like, I am entitled to a free wedding dress even though I have never bought from Alfred Angelo. Yes that is annoying. But....come on...when you are spending upwards of 20,000 at a hotel you should be entitled to a free room.

She may have been talking about something that she saw on another board or something... Lacy is awfully sweet so I doubt that she meant anything flame-ish to any of us by it.

The bridezillas DO come out on The Knot (not necessarily DFW Board)... It may have been a generalization?

Oh well, to each their own!

No, I am not saying you should buy at sticker, but you're not entitled to a discount. It is the car dealership's choice to bargain with you to sell you the car. You knew what you were getting for your money. Just because you spend a lot of money there doesn't mean they owe you something. Yes, it would be nice of them to give you a free room but not something they should do. If they have been upfront about pricing with you from day one then you shouldn't complain about what you're having to spend or that they should work with you.
