What is your calorie intake each day?

I am not here to judge. I am just curious.

Re: What is your calorie intake each day?

  • 1250 -1550. I kind of splurge once a week. But I track my calories on Sparkpeople.

1300-1650. I don't get the perfect 40/40/30 mix though. I'm heavy on the protein side. That's what works best for me. I track on sparkpeople as well.

On average I burn 5-600 calories at bootcamp each morning, per my heart rate monitor. That should put me at a 2-3lb weightloss for the week, IF I don't screw it up by eating too much or the wrong things on the weekend.

Can you mail me some of your energy?

  • It was 1100 for about 4 months, but I got so frustrated with counting that I stopped. Now I just try to eat the same things I did when I was keeping track. If I want a high-calorie treat, I'll have one, but I kinda try to limit that.
I will say that some of my calories also come from alcohol, so there are some days when I'm sure I'm around 2000, based on my alcohol consumption.
  • Insanity has me on 1900 a day. I am 5 ft 107 pounds. I hope that I am not over feeding myself. The workout is pretty intense.

  • I actually get my energy from not cleaning my house, or that's FI's theory anyway. I'm dead by the time I get home from work. I only really clean on Sundays, which is the one day of the week I don't work out.

  • I've been tracking around 1500 or less, but that's only after workout, otherwise, I hit about 17-1800. But holy hell do I eat too many carbs.  I was seriously at around 50%. Dropping that sucker down for shizzle.

Well I'm 5'4 and 153 last time I checked. And my work out consists of knotting.

What are you trying to lose? You look hot enough to me.

  • My range is supposed to be between 1350-1650 via Sparkpeople. I usually get around 1400 during the school year. During the summer I've been sitting at 800-900 calories because I'm just not hungry at all when I'm home all day. I need to force feed myself calories because I'm burning about 300 a day, 7 days a week with cardio and strength training.
  • I have no idea. I've never kept track. But I don't eat a lot, mainly small snacks throughout the day then a bigger dinner, which is typically pasta. Man do I love pasta.
  • mara, that's a pretty low intake. Most sources will state that you shouldn't go under 1200 per day because your metabolism will actually slow down.

THe one time in my life I was actually in the healthy weight range for my height, I was at 1200 cal per day, running 3 miles every morning and doing weights 2 hours every night with my then BF. It was an unhealthy relationship, but I was also always starving, exhausted and sickly looking. My dad thought somehting was seriously wrong with me. When I fit that weight (137) I went back up to 1300 calories and the weight piled back on again. At that point I said F it, both to the diet and to the relationship.

Dont you love it when Spark questions you when you finish tracking below what they recommend. It's like Mom saying you didnt eat all your dinner.

  • I don't keep track. I can say that during the summer I don't eat much, and during the winter I eat way too much.
Is the name of your diet Insanity? I don't know if that would motivate me or intimidate me.

Yeah. Or if I have a huge cardio week (like this week is shaping up to be) and it starts going "You need to up your calories if you are burning this many. Adjust your calorie counter and work out schedule."

I need to go enter my calories for today, but I really don't want to. All I've had were 2 feta and spinach on pita sandwiches and now I'm eating a bowl of cereal with peaches. Definitely not good.
  • HI Ricks!

I think for me, I just pay more attention and eat healthier when I track.  I just notice it more.

  • It's farking hard counting calories. I have to measure and weigh everything.
    image
  • Sarah, that's what I've heard. We were doing this program at work that measured our metabolism and based on our activity level, how many calories we should intake a day. I don't do super heavy workouts, but enough--walk/run, biking and WiiFit. So I figured mine would be around 1400-1500... no. It was 1100. I did it for 4 months and didn't lose any weight, so I quit that stupid program.
When I started training for a half-marathon a while ago, my physical trainer/phy. therapist told me to up my calories. I'm sure I've been eating more than 1100 calories recently (within past 2 months) because I'm just so hungry. Plus, I drink at least 2 beers most nights, so that adds 100+ calories per beer.
  • Heck no KD but in 3-4 months I hope to be pretty damned tone!
    image
  • I don't count that carefully anymore, but I try to stay around 1600-1700 with a relatively low fat intake. But I'm also 5'8" so there's that too! I have a lot more "leeway" with my weight, for good or for bad. I lost about 20 lbs after college and kept it off but clothes I wore when I was 20 lbs heavier still basically fit, they just look a little baggy around the waist and in the thighs.

</div><div>Too bad we don't share more genes. We are both pretty good at putting on muscle. I just can't get rid of the fat simultaneously.  Apparently eating only chicken, fish, bell peppers and Labrada protein shakes is her secret. Instead of wine and dinner at her cousin's wedding last weekend, she had a protein shake in her wine glass. I don't know about you, but I like food way too much to do that. </div>

I have no idea.  I'm sure its in the healthy moderate range,  I eat mostly healthy plus I don't snack between meals or overeat.    I've never been a calorie counter.  I'm more of the 80/20 school of thought.

Although I have seen the calorie counts of things in the "Eat This Not That" book and never touched them agian as a result.  That sort of counts!  :)

    Hahahaha. Ha. Yeah....

But in my defense, grad school made me do it, and now I'm in Italy, and everything is made of pasta. Probably even my bedsheets. I'm going to change my ways when I get home.
