[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Where are you going? : We didn't eat at Mustards but we did Bottega and it was good. And FYI, I am totally jealous that you live in California. I would be a total wino-Napa hoar if I lived that close :-)

Haha, well, it's still a 7 hour drive. But I guess it's more accessible for me than for you! CA is a big-ass state. It is pretty fun, though. There's lots of stuff to do and places to visit out here. We can drive to the bay area, Vegas, Phoenix, San Diego, Mexico, the entire coast, and about 5 national parks.

• We're doing couples tower isle in ocho rios jamaica!! We splurged for a deluxe ocean room versus the standard garden view room. All Inclusive with excursions to Dunns River, horse back riding, glass bottom boat rides, snorkeling, kayaking, massages, etc. I can't wait!
• We are doing 1 week in Spain and 1 week in Portugal!! I am so excited

• How much does your vacation package cost? Are you going through Sandals or Beaches?
• DH and I are outdoorsy people- we went to Vail, CO in June for our HM. We did white water rafting, cave spelunking, zip lining, hiking, etc. It was SO much fun. We were going to do the carribbean, and at the last minute (it was a timeshare week and we had to make a decision), we were like.. let's just go do something we'll absolutely love. Absolutely no regrets, and I hope we go back for an anniversary or vacation in the next couple of years.

• we are spending a week up in the mountains on a lake in a cabin with our puppy our fishing gear and hiking maps. next year we will take a big scuba trip, but honestly, right after the wedding nothing sounds better than a short drive a warm fire and relaxing without having a binch of touristy actiities looming. crockpot chili hot cocoa, fishing and hopefully snow!

• FI wants Alaskan Cruise
I want Europe

Still to be decided!

• We are very off the beaten path couple. Cruises and resorts sound dreadfully boring to us...

we are going to southeast asia for 1 month - backpacking through Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Sounds crazy but if you take time, do your research its SUPER cheap and you can get very exotic.

our second choice was renting a flat in Rome - but thats a bit pricy.
• We're going to Belize. We wanted somewhere laid back where we didnt have to take him a tie! All the fancy restaurants at all inclusives aren't our style. We rented a condo and can do lots of hanging out, beach, pool, snorkling, etc! Can't wait!

• We're planning on going to the Tahitian islands of Moorea and Bora Bora. We are still in the planning stages so if anyone who's been have any suggestions about things we should do.

[QUOTE]I agree with hz80408 . Mehgank, that isn't "intel," that is listening to NPR....we all heard about these incidents. Given that Europe is having the same warnings, I think it is generally wise for anyone travelling anywhere to do their research and be wise about being safe.

First of all, I don't listen to NPR because talk radio makes me want to hang myself by my shoelaces.

Secondly, I apologize if my military speak bothers you. It's a tough habit to break when I've been in the service for nearly a decade, and my FI is also in the military as well. And I DO receive intel on a daily basis, but I shortened the info because it's a message board and I didn't want people to just skim past my post if it were too long. That's like RN's using layman's terms when referring to medical conditions on the internet.

Thirdly, who was I hurting by posting that info? NO ONE. In fact, I'm sure it probably helped rather than hindered. But hey, don't blame me if some Americans get kidnapped and killed while on their honeymoons in MX. Can't say I didn't warn them. *eye roll*

• My FI and I are getting married in northern Mexico. He's Mexican it that is the easiest place for everyone to travel to. We are both really adventous, so we are going to spend our honeymoon backpacking in Chiapas, Mexico for two weeks.
We will probably spend a few nights at somewhere romantic as well.

• We're actually not doing our full-out honeymoon after the wedding; we can't afford it, especially after paying for said wedding.

We did win a 3 day 2 night stay at various 4-star hotels in vacation hot spots, Vegas and Hawaii included. We plan on buying the airfare, saving some spending money, and having a quick getaway to Vegas right afterwards.
• We took a cruise to the bahamas,i dont think your FI has anything to worry about with cruising we do it all the time.
were actually taking a cruise to Bermuda in June bc i want to renew our vows there :)

We are going to Iberostar Grand Bavaro in Dominican Republic. I had never heard of Iberostar resorts until we talked to a travel agent, but these are amazing resorts.

• My soon-to-be-in-laws are giving us the honeymoon as a wedding gift: a trip to Italy. My FI was raised in the states but his family is from Capua and they used to go back almost every year when he was younger. Getting this gift was like a big hug that said "welcome to the family!"

If military deployments don't get in the way, we will be heading out on a delayed honeymoon sometime next summer/early fall. Can't wait!
• We aren't traveling anywhere exotic, but we are having our honeymoon in Colorado at the Ritz! My fiancé loves the cold and the mountains! I'm so excited! It sounds so romantic to me to be curled up next to a fireplace with a nice comfy bed not to far over! Smile

• we are going to iceland for 7-10 days...flying into Reyjavik and going to the hot springs, then driving around and hiking at the glaciers and seeing the old viking history sites and then maybe taking a little flight to Greenland for the day because, really, who goes to Greenland? I can't wait. We are both outdoorsy and don't want to sit on a beach for a week and this really seems like the trip of a lifetime. And also, they are in an economic slump right now and joining the EU in 2012 so this is the time to go before their currency rebounds too much.

• Well my wedding's a bit far out, and we'll both be in fairly new jobs by the time we are married, so we'll see if we get to take one right away or if we have to wait. I'd love to go to Europe, but airfare alone is the price of doing a North American honeymoon!
• We'll be traveling around Italy for 12 days.
• FI and I are thinking Italy, but having an itinerary planned for us and not having to move our lodgings constantly sounds really appealing. I'm considering a Mediterranean cruise, can anyone recommend a cruise line, agency, etc.?

• Fiance and I are probably going to have our honeymoon several months after the wedding in Hawai'i (we'll be there for 2 weeks, hanging with friends and family, and preparing for the ceremony)... but we thought it would totally be awesome to go to an Ice Hotel!!!!
• We are thinking about Maldives, or Mozambique...as we are getting married in South Africa :)

• We're going to Buenos Aires, too! So excited!
