I don't have it. But im getting it soon. 50 bucks a month with a $100 deductible if i remember correctly. I could have already used it but im a loser who procrastinates, so there you go.
We havnt needed it yet, but i recall seeing someone mentioned that once your pet turns 4 you cant get it or its harder to get it. I have a pug so im worried about health issues when he gets older so I want to get on that soon. The quote I got that includes accidents, dental, health, and some other things is 50$ a month with a 100$ deductible as well.
My coworker and I were just talking about this earlier today. I think she said she paid $300 a year to cover her 3 cats, but it only covers emergency visits, not routine care. She said it was a pretty good policy - covers 80% of the cost up to $2500 after the deductible. I'll ask her what company she uses.
Ya know, they won't give it to you if your pet has a pre-existing condition. So epileptic dog can't get insurance. Boo! I don't think they'd cover one-eyed cat either.
I should get it for the other dog, but I haven't yet.
The one im looking at covers 2500 per accident, per health issue, 300 dental per year, and 300 special (which I havnt looked at). It also covers 1000$ kennel fees and 1000$ lost pet advertising. Oh and burial or cremation costs.
My past 2 pets had to be put down and were cremated by the vet or humane society at no cost to us due to the circumstances. Im looking at petsecure, a friend of mine has it and her dog is a total nightmare and she has used it a LOT.
Wow. I've honestly never heard of cremating an animal. That seems like a real financial burden for a lot of people, not to mention horribly depressing. Ugh.
Yeah, at one point mil was trying to give us her 4 cats, all aged 15. Luckily she changed her mind (and I would have said no anyways, I can't do that to either of our animals, they are evil cats) but just to think of the cost of cremating all of them...it's unbelievable.
That's what I did in high school. Then again I lived in the middle of a cornfield surrounded by woods, so there would be no one to check up on us. Digging a large enough hole in suburbia...not so subtle.
Hmm. Maybe it's illegal here, but just not enforced. Shiit, we just got a speed limit ten years ago.
I, personally, think it would be hilarious to dig a large hole in your suburban yard. If nothing else, it would give the neighbors something to talk about.
I'd have to call MISS Utility before I dug the hole though Jas I love my underground everything but it's such a pain in the asss when I want to break ground for anything.

Pet insurance is like gambling; a few win, everyone else loses to cover the cost of the 'winners' who actually have a pet emergency that falls under what's qualified to be covered.
As far as cremations go, around here at least, when you have to have a pet put down and pay the vet to dispose of it, cremation is what is typically done. I have seen people who keep urns of their pets ashes, I always thought that was really weird. lol
The policies range from like $18-$32 a month for dogs and the cat policies are cheaper. I really like it. I don't think they deny anyone coverage, but I could be wrong. It's actually a "wellness plan" rather than insurance. There's no deductible. It covers 100% of annual booster shots and an annual checkup, and other services if you get the more expensive plans. The puppy and kitten plans include a free spay/neuter, so no matter what you're going to come out on top the first year. You get 5-20% off other services and products like emergency visits and medication.
You can up your coverage at any time. For example, when Possum ate all that trash and got sick, they asked me if I wanted to increase her plan to the next level so that her urinalysis would be free.
At worst I think we've broken even, and it's nice to be able to spread the cost evenly throughout the year.
I had Maggie privately cremated (through the vet - that just meant she wasn't creamated with other animals) and I got her ashes back. I debated taking her to West Virginia and burying her with all of our other family animals, but now that I live in Iowa, I don't get out there much. So, I think she'll stay with me. I don't plan to display her, but when my dad retires, his first project is to make a nice box (she was returned in a plastic box inside a cardboard box) for her. I have a larger box with her leash, collar, toys, and blankets in it, except for her Snoopy and favorite blanket, which I sent with her. I keep one blanket and one sweater with me, along with her nametag.
We don't have insurance on Max yet, but we might do it - we're debating it - it would be like Heels - through Banfield, since that's the vet we use.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew

And, not to be morbid, but burial costs? My pets that have passed are buried on our land. Is that not normal?

Not to make MT sound behind the times, but we just made our own wooden boxes, dug a hole, and made a headstone.

While we are talking about pets, Shy hasn't had a seizure in two months! *happy dance*
Hopefully, I haven't just jinxed myself.
