I hate that people like this exist.

http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2010/07/27/NOM_Sign_Murder_Gay_Couples/.

But I think it's awesome that 250 LGBT people showed up and only 40 NOM supporters.

Ah yes, Leviticus.  I'm pretty sure we're all screwed if Leviticus is our guidebook.
    Idiots.
  • I generally don't believe that hell exists, but there's got to be some kind of karmic retribution for people like that who are just filled to the brim with hate.

seriously. i hate that those people exist, too. i just don't get that nonsense.
  • What scares me the most is that there is so much unconditional hate for gay couples, but then when one of their own gets caught with his pants down around some other dude's pants, then they are allowed to "reform" themselves and not get lynched. Not that I believe gay people need to be "reformed," but why can't some of that tolerance and understanding go toward the people they want to kill for the very same actions that some of their own participate in?

It is VERY entertaining!  (he points out how many people should be killed for breaking "Gods" law for everyday offenses in a funny way)

It you take a Freudian standpoint, it's projection. These types of people have gay tendencies, so they must mask them by being overly hateful towards homosexuals.
Or, to avoid having fingers pointed at them for whatever they've done, they have to focus attention on someone else. It's scapegoating.
    That's one theory, anyway.
  • I refuse to believe there is any logic involved here. REFUSE.

  • I know we've already addressed that these types of people aren't in any way logical, but I just don't get why people care. I mean, if you're of the opinion that it's a mortal sin, then don't do it and leave it at that. But if someone else does it, how does it in any way affect your life? Particularly to the point where you'd feel a need to commit another mortal sin, murder.

Seriously.  Who other people love does not affect anyone else, whatsoever.  It's so bizarre.  Some people just feel the need to try to control other people, I guess.  I don't get it.
  • I just want to put this out there that not everyone who doesn't support gay marriage is a bad person.  I know no one said they are but sometimes you can get a bad rap just because of certain people.

I don't support gay marriage for biblical reasons but by no means would I EVER suggest murder. It says clearly in the Bible that marriage is between a man and woman.  I am not perfect but I do try my best to live according to the way of God.

Every one is entitled to their opinions and I am not here to judge anybody's personal choices.  I do not think I am any better than a gay person, I do not think I am perfect, I do not think gay people are bad people.  I actually know several gay people and have no problems with them!

Please don't think I'm trying to stir up anything, I just don't want anyone to think all Christians or non supporters are crazy! :)

That's all good and well, and you're completely entitled to your opinion.
BUT, why should YOUR religious beliefs control the laws?  Gay marriage would not affect you in any way.
I don't think all Christians are crazy--I am one.  But my faith believes in equal rights.

I don't think people who are anti-gay marriage are all crazy - but they are all wrong.  I am a Christian and I believe that marriage should be between two people who love each other.  It says a lot of stuff clearly in the Bible - including that I'm unclean when I have my period.  Jesus was pretty clear when he said to love one another as I have loved you was the ultimate commandment.  I think that rule trumps all.

  • I'm a Christian person who supports gay marriage. I don't think it makes me any less Christian.

And the Bible says a lot of things are wrong that everyone does. It BURNS ME when people pick and choose which parts of the Bible they are going to live by.

Well in these people's eyes it wouldn't be murder, it would be an execution or another form of justified killing.  Which just makes them scarier.

    Name: Charlie
    Date posted: 7/27/2010 11:27:42 AM
    Hometown: St. Louis, MO

    Comment:

    1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? 2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? 3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. 4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? 5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it? 6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination? 7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here? 8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die? 9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? 10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

And that's fine. You're entitled to your belief, or opinion, as it may be. However, one of the principles that this country was founded on is freedom of religion, or lack thereof and it is should in no way be in the government's authority to decide who gets to marry and who doesn't. Religion, except the right to practice or not practice as you see fit, has no place in our government, IMO. It's a religious issue for you, but it's a political issue for people who don't believe the same as you.

ETA: The only case I can think of where the government should have a say is children getting married. FTR, I also don't give a hoot if you have 7 wives or husbands, so long as everybody's getting treated well and entered into that situation of his or her own volition.
