Hey , I'm so sorry you r going thru this. Not seeing you on mother's day bc mother in law more important. Nonsense . Sounds like the gf is a chip off old block of mom. Sounds like sons gf is a well....brat. idk best advice other than talk to your soon about how you'd like to be with him more , or make plans to take walks, lunches , etc things that don't break the bank. Invite son and gf or if gf doesn't come just son. Start to do all you can to make effort to be with son away from this so he can make sure it's what he wants . You are his mother , you deserve to be held high

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Freestyle Friday Festival (my version of FFF) : THAT is infuriating. Oh, everyone is asking me to expand on my original thought. I'm going to chime in about burritos and colored contacts in the SAME THREAD and pretend nothing happened. She turns it into kicking a puppy, and I can't help myself but to kick the fuccking puppy right in it's face. You get up and fight like a man, puppy.

Missy, you're right. My issues also probably don't help with the hurt feelers either. I obsess way too much about some stuff.
I did just read Revelation. Yup, finished the Bible, cover to cover. The timing is perfect for my rapture tomorrow.
Well, I just solved my Bumped issue. If I'm raptured tomorrow, I won't have to read it. :P
[QUOTE]Now I'm mad that I apologized to SW for being rude on her one vent last week. Because she hasn't apologized for any of the stupid stuff she said, especially to Ciara. Birdie - are you sad you've done all this planning and your wedding won't happen because of tomorrow? I'm kinda sad. I feel like I'm too close to the wedding for the rapture to happen.

Yeah, that's why I really didn't care when everyone said we jumped down her throats. I've felt this way about SW for a while, and haven't hidden it. Yes maybe in that specific thread she didn't deserve, but in general she does.

Where's Mixtape been? I miss her and her awesome siggies.

Nerdy example: I was listening to journalists discuss the fairness of reporting on NPR. They talked about wanting to get both sides of any story, but that in certain cases, it was fine to just report on one side, because that side was clearly right. For example: child molestation. If NPR or the BBC do a report on it, do they need to get a representative from NAMBLA to defend men who love boys? No, because an adult having sex with a child is wrong.

See. I disagree. She deserved it. She may have backpedaled and changed her story and reworded her intial post better as she went, but that's what she does. And I fail to see how others can be "wrong" for reacting to what she's said, rather than what she later claims she meant to say.

[QUOTE]I do have one question. How long DO women bleed after child birth?

I thought that! But then I wasn't sure I really wanted to know the answer. If she says six weeks I may have a coronary. And then start saving up for a surrogate.

It depends on the person, really. I've heard 6 weeks is around average. Don't quote me on it, though.

I believe the standard is considered to be about 6 weeks. Some go more, some go less, some are worse than others. But yea. 6ish weeks.

I don't know why, but I think you'd like The Bang Bang Club (book). It's about four photojournalists in SA at the end of apartheid and about how involved they should get. Like, is their responsibility simply to snap photos, or attempt to help after getting their shots?

Not because of the board itself, but because of what they called it. "Childfree" is a term and a community specifically about NOT wanting children, ever. I've participated in many childfree communities and there is a lot of diversity, but one thing in common: they would like to be taken seriously, have their lifestyle treated as a legitimate choice, and not be questioned ("you'll change your mind" etc.). This sort of misuse of the term only serves to go against these wishes and creates confusion.
It's like when somebody says "I used to be childfree..." no. You were never childfree if you proceeded to have kids. Childfree is a permanent state of being and is generally a positive one (except for the way we are treated by others). People who wish to have children but cannot, for some reason, are childless. I really don't appreciate these people co-opting our community's term like that. It's kind of offensive.
(Before someone quotes the dictionary to me, the dictionary is behind the times. I could go into that phenomenon a little more but I gotta get some work done.)
