The color and the texture. We went with the new shag, because our friends just bought a brand new house and that's what was in it, and we thought it looked super modern and cool. But now I regret getting something trendy, because I'll probably hate it when it goes out of style in a few years. And then I also am not crazy about the color. It's darker than it looked under florescent lighting at HD. So with the dark color and shag texture, I don't think it looks modern and cool in my house, I think it just looks like we haven't updated our carpet in 40 years.

Oh and is it sad that I only knew that because one of the babies on 16 & Pregnant did that?

That was one of the things they were worried about with me being almost 2 weeks late. Sometimes babies that are late will poop in the womb and that can make them seriously ill. Luckily we didn't have to go through that.

Yeah, the NICU nurse said that it's one of the scariest and potentially the most dangerous birth trauma, and we're actually doing well if he wasn't mechanically ventilated. He was on oxygen until a couple days ago, but he can breathe by himself now.

I don't know what the new shag carpet is. Is it like the old 70's shag? Only not as shaggy? (Shag - just wanted to say it one more time).

What are your wall colors? Are they darker?

I think my mother jinxed us because we had a great baby that would sleep 5 hours at night no problem. She was here for 2 days and now he won't sleep more than 3 hours at a time ever.

She was complaining about how I was such a crappy baby and would never let anyone get any sleep. And when I screamed it was a piercing scream evidently.

Yeah if they do poop in the womb they need to be immediately pulled out of there. My friend's sister had a very normal, healthy pregnancy until delivery, when her baby pooped in the womb and they had to do an emergency c-section. They didn't do it fast enough, and he was exposed to it for too long, and because of that he has severe cerebral palsy, confined to a wheel chair and feeding tube his whole life. He is now either 13 and 14, and his mom just passed away last year, so I feel horrible for him.

The carpet looks like this. It's kind of a tall, loose loop texture, but not as shaggy as old school shag.

Yeah, they didn't do anything with me. I think it happened at the very end though and I was a fast delivery. I was not born by c-section. Granted, this was a long time ago though too.

I would be worried if it were shaggier than that but that is actually not that bad.

I had a teacher back in HS that bought a house that had 70s shag carpet for the downstairs. He said they took it outside turned it over and beat it in the driveway. They found some interesting stuff lost in it apparently.

Forgot to answer that one. The new carpet is in two rooms.

The smaller room is this color:

She is pretty much crying all the time. I can't imagine how hard it is on her, really. She speaks very limited English, she is 6,000 miles away from all her family, her first baby is very sick, not to mention the postpartum hormones.
