  • Morning.

I love my Uggs.  I wear them all the time in the winter. I have 3 pairs in different colors.

I am headed into work, it sucks because i had tue/wed off and it rained all day and today is gorgeous! Cant wait for the weekend.  We are going to have a few cookouts.

  • I have fake uggs that I just love because they're so comfy but I rarely wear them so that the whole boot is showing. I'll usually just wear them with jeans.

I'm really frustrated with FI this morning.  I've started mixing up my workout routine and added treadmill every other day.  I started doing 1 minute running, 4 minutes walking, intervals.  I'm to the point of doing 2:30 runnng, 2:30 walking, but even this morning, on my last running part, I was able to run for well over 3 minutes and it felt GREAT.  I was never much of a runner in high school and college because it hurt my knees terribly.  But now that I've eased into it, the past couple of weeks has had zero knee pain when running.  This morning, I decided I want to try to train for a 5k to do at the end of the summer or early fall.  Just something to keep me motivated through the summer and another goal to shoot for now that the wedding weight-loss goal will be done soon.  I told FI about it and he completely shot me down telling me I'm going to hurt my knees, it's a bad idea, look at his dad who just had a knee replaced, etc.  It's not like I want to run marathons.  It's a 5k.  One time (maybe more if I like it, but no pressure).  I don't think he's ever been this unsupportive of me.
  • Chels, I'm sorry about how your FI responded.  Did you ever go to a doc or PT for your knees?  If so, did the recommend anything like braces or special ways to tape it?  That might make your FI feel better about it.  BUT, since you said that you haven't had any pain I wouldn't be too worried about it.  Just baby them a bit with icing afterwards if you start to notice anything and get fitted for shoes... that can help as well.

I feel like I've been telling everyone and their mother on TK to get fitted for shoes lately.  I'm starting to look a little crazy.

Thanks for the advice! When I stand, my knees bow inward (probably why they hurt so bad when I run) but I've notice they don't bow as much, I'm guessing it's because I'm strengthening those muscles by running/working out.  It still hurts if I kneel too long but kneeling is way different than running.

I think he just realized what a jerk he's being cuz he apologzied and said he'd support me in whatever I decide, he just doesn't want me to hurt myself.

It's one 5k lol.  It's not like I'm signing up for a triathalon.
  • I think you will be fine as long as you take it easy.  When people start to up mileage and train that's where injuries can start if you push too hard.  You know your body better than anyone else so I  think as long as you listen to it you will be fine :)  GL with the training!

Me too! I love mine, H bought me a pair for Christmas a few years back, they come to my knee so it's nice in deep snow. I wear them for my commute and change when I get to work. And I have slippers that I ONLY wear at home! But I dont understand the UGG and shorts thing at all. Mara the ones you posted are butt ugly!

One more day! I'm so excited for this weekend. I think we're driving to Amish country for some chairs and I'm buying plants and making an umbrella stand I found on Pinterest.

Atticus can go with now, he went to the vet yesterday and he's 22.4 lbs already. They told us to up his food. He's getting so big.

  • I would like some Uggs, but I can't really justify the cost.  Esp. if Chicago is going to be the next Miami Beach in the winter forever more.

Said goodbye to our little Bo cat on Tuesday.  It's lonely in the house without him and other cat is acting out of sorts.  H is taking it hard.
  • Marrin I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty :(
  • Kd, on my run yesterday FI and I went by a yard that had a full-grown Dobie and I freaked for a millisecond.  I love them a lot but some I've known have been a little too protective.  That one was a nice boy.  I told FI that I really want one to run with and and just have as a badass dog.

    Good morning, ladies.

That's a cool idea with the books, DMills.

Today is so sad around here.  It's the last day our company will exist, as tomorrow we become the company that bought us.  Plus, there are a lot of people whose last day is today.  It's so hard when they walk around to say goodbye.

My H used to run with Cleo and he plans to run with Atticus when he gets older. I'll be honest as much as my H is OOT I loved knowing Cleo was on the other side of the bed, I dont sleep as well since she's been gone.

Atticus is only 12 weeks and he already barks when someone comes in the house. He barked at the neighbors yesterday, but we make sure we socialize him well at an early age.

This was our Cleo, we still miss her. She wouldnt hurt anyone unless they were trying to hurt us, and people think twice about coming in a house with her on the other side of the glass.

  • Thanks everyone.  It really does leave a void.

I AM looking forward to a true 3 day weekend since it's not my Saturday to work!
  • Mehg-great news on the house!

I despise Uggs. Despise. Guess that's one trend I'll never get.

Chels- I wish your FI was more supportive of your 5k plans but it sounds like he is just doing a bad job of showing how much he cares about your wellbeing. I have knee problems when I run and my trainer had me start stretching for about 15 minutes after each run, making sure to stretch all body parts and using a foam roller. It made a world of difference. That and cross training really really helped my knee problems. Btw, racing is addictive!! In a great way of course!

H is gone on a business trip and my bday is tomorrow :( I will miss him being there on my special day. Bdays are a big deal to me but not really to him so he doesn't quite understand why I am bummed. Thankfully my sis will come spend the day with me. We're planning on going shopping, getting our makeup and nails done, etc.

  • Aww Marrin, I'm sorry :(

Kd, she was gorgeous!  I love the folded ear Dobies.  Yeah, I don't think too many would be brave enough to try something with that breed for sure!  DB thinks she's a Dobie, except she's 10lbs, long haired, and 3 inches off the ground... she would be zero help against a creepy stranger.
  • We have a beautiful, exceptionally large Dob at the corner house.  They must have an electric fence because as people walk by, he rushes and then stops abruptly.  I used to avoid that corner on my walks/runs, but Louie's okay.  I "met" him when the owners were out.  Now when I go by he sort of trots up to the lot line, satisfies his curiosity, deems me uninteresting, and goes back.

Aw, Marrin, I'm so sorry about your kitty.  I'm going to be a wreck when Cheddar is gone.

Lbarr, I know the feeling.  My parents claim our 12 lb yorkie would definitely mess someone up, but every time anyone comes into the house, she runs under the couch and barks.  Clearly, she's a fearsome beast.

Marrin, I'm so sorry. I know how much it hurts. You loved him and gave him a great life! My deepest sympathy. ETA, crap, I hate my phone for autocorrecting your name.

  • Morning.  I hate Uggs, Congrats on finding the house Mehg, losing pets is sad.

I'm trying to plan a baby shower and it's turning into a comedy of errors.

  • Again, thank you everyone ♥  Since he's been sick the last couple of months, I feel like I've bored everyone to pieces in my RL talking about him, but it helps me process.

I went for a walk a little bit ago and I tried to run a little, but left knee and hip went a bit wonky on me.  I have a ton of crepitus in that knee but no pain so it kind of caught me by surprise.  I need to get back on the diet and exercise again now that life will be returning pretty much to normal.
  • Dean Winters, eh?  I never really liked winter until now.
  • I would totally commit mayhem on Dean Winters

  • H kept telling me that the insurance mayhem guy was an original character on SVU.  I thought he was nuts.  So it's true.
