Re: Have your wedding featured on The Knot or WeddingChannel.com!

  • Who doesn't want to bring in the new year with a bang?!!?!?  From the time my fiance and I got engaged, our theme has been, "Let wedding bells ring in your new year."  We figure everyone wants some place to party on new yeas, so lets give our friends and family a even better reason to celebrate the new year with a new marriage.

The ceremony has been set for 6:00 at St. Francis de Sales in Maryland.  We will leave the church with Sparklers set on fire all around us!  The reception will be held at the most beautiful and elegant place ever called The Fountains.  From the cathedral ceiling huge snowflakes will be hung to accent the season.   My bridesmaids are wearing black floor length taffeta dresses to compliment by amazing taffeta ivory dress.  The groom and groomsmen will be wearing classic tuxedoes with bowties.  The reception will last until the clock strikes 12:00, when we will have a secret slideshow for our guests for the final countdown until 2011!!!  I cannot wait to marry my best friend:)

  • Our wedding is going to be November 20, 2010. Our wedding should be featured because it is going to be a wedding like no other! The whole wedding is western theme and very family oriented. Our parents grew up together and once we were born, our grandparents were determined to get Kevin and I together. Once we met it was love at first sight! Kevin proposed just 7 months after we met! I have an amazing dress and great wedding party of 14!!!

The ceremony will be Lutheran based at our childhood church in the middle of our small hometown. Both of our parents were married at this church also. My older brother is not able to stand in or attend our wedding because he was recently accepted into U.S. Army Ranger School. If for some reason he is able to show up for the ceremony, along with our dad, he will walk me down the aisle.

The reception is about 5 miles away from the ceremony at a dance hall. Our parents also had their reception held there 30 years ago. Kevin's mother and grandmother are going to make all the wedding cakes. We both chose unique wedding toppers that go with our personalities. We also have a few special events that will occur during the reception. Once the wedding party gets introduced followed by Kevin and I, we are going to play a slideshow of each of us when we were younger to present day. Kevin's family heritage is Hawaiian and so his mother, grandmother, twin sisters and cousin will all perform a Hawaiian dance for the guests. After dinner and the special dances, Kevin has planned to write me a song and play it in front of the guests. Along with his best friend and brother, they will most likely have something else up their sleeves. Kevin is a very comical and loving guy and has told me he has something planned for when our Pastor asks for the rings at the ceremony and for when he removes my garter at the reception.

Our favors for the wedding will be personalized koozies that will say, "God is Great, Beer is Good, This Wedding was Crazy!" along with our names, date and a horseshoe. The bridal party gifts includes personalized mugs for the guys and wine glasses for the girls. We will have mason jars as vases for the bridesmaids bouquets and on the guestbook tables we will have several pictures of Kevin and I along with a scrapbook I have made him.

Family means the world to each of us!! We could not ask for more, as long as the ones we love and care about are there for us on our special day!

    Hi Annie!

I think that we should be featured because the knot has saved my life in so many wedding planning ways, and I would love to show other brides that they can do it too with your help!

My fiance and I have been best friends since we were children. We were next door neighbors when I was 8 and he was 9 in Indonesia! We both moved back to Houston in high school, and started dating when I was 16 and he was 17. We are childhood best friends, high school sweethearts, and he is the love of my life! We are now graduates of Texas A&M (WHOOP!) and are getting married on January 1st, 2011!

We both love the winter, and we are so excited to have a warm winter wedding in an incredible venue (The Bell Tower on 34th in Houston). Our ceremony will be in the gorgeous, high ceiling romantic chapel, and the reception will take place in the adjacent ballroom complete with chandaliers and fireplaces. The venue looks very mediteranean, and given our love for Europe and my Spanish heritage, these aspects were important to us!

Our wedding is going to be filled with DIY details. We love to travel, so we are kind of theming it on our favorite cities in the world (and we've been to all of the ones we are using!).  Our escort cards are handmade postcards from these cities, which each table is named after. The place cards are handmade and covered in lace- another detail I'm passionate about because it matches my beautiful lace gown! Our colors are deep red and dark purple. I'm a romantic at heart so red roses, lace and pearls (which me and my bridesmaids will be wearing) are going to give my wedding the warm, romantic feel that we  both want. I also made our save the date photo strip magnets and they were super cute! All of the table decorations will be my own creations along with the hot chocolate favors for our guests to create "warm memories!"

I'm so excited for our wedding and can't wait for this beautiful day to celebrate our love and the beginning of our life together. We can't wait to share it with our friends and family, and we would love to share it with the knot readers too if you will give us the chance!
  • Have you ever had the opportunity to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of the groom's parents? and then on the same occasion have the father of the groom marry his last son (of seven in total) in the middle of a cave in a destination wedding? Did I also mention that it will be the first time the entire family is getting together after 10 years after everyone living around the globe for so many years ;-)

Yes, I am excited! As the bride I can't wait...we are filling the entire ceremony with so many surprises and traditions it will be one to be watched for sure...

I hope you choose our wedding on Nov 5, 2010 !
  • ANNIE, THIS IS AWESOME! I love hearing all of these great brides being so proud of their special day!

I am very excited to say that our wedding will be taking place in a gorgeous park on October 16. Micah and I have been looking forward to this day for a long time and would love to share it with the world. We not only want to share the beautiful day with others, but also want to show that creativity can go a lot farther than what most couples think. Our budget is $4000, so far we're under. This wedding will not only have a DIY detail, it is ALL DIY! I made my dress, most of the decor for the room, and flower arrangements. I have a small passion for event coordinating and decided to take the planning on as well.

I would LOVE the chance to show the world how awesome a wedding can look for $4000, while working and going to school full time.

    CHEERS!
    Andrea

My Fiance and I met in Hunington, WV in 2003. He had decided after six years of dating it is time to tie the knot and bring the families together as one. Our journey began with a long distance relationship and for both of us it was a first. In 2005, I packed up from my hometown of Clarksburg, WV and moved to his hometown Silver Spring, MD.  In February of 2010, he popped the long awaiting question. Two days later the planning started and as of now, most of it is Done! With the colors: magenta; turquiose, and black everything is coming together beautifully. In the month of March, I was able to find the dress I found two years ago in David's Bridal and purchase it at a good price.  As the economy changes and funds are not the same, our love for one another will never change. To make our wedding unique, my fiance is filipino and to add in his culture the groomsmen are wearing the Barong Tagalog shirts as part of his tradition. Our wedding would be an honor to be featured and mean a great deal to us to be able to say we have used an amazing magazine that helps all couples to make planning a little easier.

  • Hi Annie!

I think that our wedding next July deserves to be featured on the knot!! I have so many great ideas, and trying to put as much hard work and love into our wedding. Im expected a child, and belive me planning a wedding and a baby is a BIG project. I have been dreaming of getting married since I was a little girl. I'm so excited to have our children in our wedding.

Our ceremony and reception venue is in San Diego at the Marina Village; the Baja room. We are trying the best we can, we have to pay for our own wedding, our parents are financially stable in this awful economy. We are working as hard as we can to be to hire the best vendors that we can afford. Our vision is a romantic lighting with candles, and mushy stuff. We are so in love and we want everyone to see it. Were going to be having a photbooth to capture everyones night. Please consider us in picking, because we have a fun family and our story is great to share with everyone.

    Thank you,
    Nicole Davidson
  • Greetings to Annie and all of the Knot community.

Here's the deal. Kevin & I will be getting married in 2011. We are in the process of choosing a date, and would love to have The Knot involved from the very beginning!  We are a multi-cultural couple, the bride from Michigan and the groom from Guatemala. Our love story is unique from the very beginning (Read about the Proposal at: http://www.theknot.com/ourwedding/KimHekman&KevinMoran2011.)

Our desire is to have a wedding that brings together our two cultures as well as our personalities.  It will be bilingual, taking place in Guatemala, but very international seeing as I have family in the States and Canada as well!

My fiance and I are very unique and have lots of special and personal details we hope to include in our wedding... and I am very artsy and here in Guate the custom is very DIY, so there are many details that can provide inspiration for other couples!

Some examples of ideas we would love to include (hopefully with the input and help of The Knot community):
    -Possible Valentines's day wedding?!?
-a Mariachi outfit  for the groom (Kevin is a mariachi member, it is a family legacy)
-family- and children-friendly details throughout the wedding (we have already brainstormed a lot.. from crayons to soccer to bunnies! there will be lots of young friends and family)
-a motorcycle 'getaway' (big passion of Kevin's)
    -an Antigua, Guatemala reception
-Use of the color orange (Kim is undyingly in love with orange!)
-Lots of musical inclusion (both bride and groom are passionate about music)

Kevin is also a very well-known person here in Guatemala, director & DJ for the top Christian radio station in the country and a former professional soccer player. By featuring our wedding on The Knot it would give you the opportunity to become more well-known here in Guate and help more couples craft their own, personal wedding.  We would also be able to share the details with the many friends and family around the globe that want to be a part of things.

We look forward to hearding from you!
    Kevin & Kim
  • Hello! Our wedding should be featured because my fiance and I planned our entire wedding in a month before he left for boot camp for the Marines. We then ended up winning a wedding giveaway in February and I had to plan the entire wedding by myself with out any imput from him because he did not have any phone access. We are high school sweethearts. We met our junior year in high school at the county stock show while I was feeding my heifers. He came over to ask if I need help then we started talking. That was over 4 years ago now. My fiance is now a United States Marine and will be wearing his dress blues for the wedding. Our wedding is a very simple elegant country wedding. I am wearing my cowboy boots that he bought me with my dress and all my girls are wearing boots with their bridesmaid dresses. My father is making a wagon wheel arch for us and we will be having our reception in a brick barn. Hope that you pick us!

Hi Annie, my name is Jessica and I would love to have my wedding featured on The Knot or WeddingChannel.com!!  Let me first tell you a little bit about myself and the love of my life, Craig.  We met on a blind date after I found him on an online dating service. I say found him because we weren't matched for each other but I am a girl that knows what I want and when I seen his profile I just knew I had to meet him!!  After our first conversation we made plans to meet a week later. During our date I knew without a doubt that this would be my last first date!!!  The bond between us has grown strong over the past year.  We accept each for other for who we are and never tried to be someone we are not!  We have spent nearly every day together and on our one year anniversary he proposed!  Words cannot express the happiness I felt in my heart that day and each day passed.  We each have been married before but we agree that those were merely lessons learned!  I have very little planning done since I have only been engaged for 25 days!! I do know that we plan to say our I do's where we spend most of our time, in his huge backyard on July 30, 2011. This will be my first wedding, I have never even tried on a wedding dress before!! So I am having a blast looking at dresses and figuring out colors and themes and checking out wedding cakes!!! I have made my knot the place to go for ideas on DIY projects that I think will bring our families together and making everyone feel that they were a part of our special day.  Of course we will have a budget to stick to and all that but none of that matters because we have our health and the love to make our day special, the rest is just a bonus!!

Thank you for the consideration!!  Take care!!

    Live, Love, Laugh

    The future Mrs. Jessica Taylor
  • We deserve to win because we are a couple who have struggled a lot in our lives but  we never lost our faith in God.
I was a single mother with two wonderful children coming to this country eight years ago, not knowing English I learned on my own this language because between two children to raise and work, I had no time to go to school t
, I became an American citizen and I just graduated with honors from a Medical Assistant program.
My fiance was in the Navy long time ago and he  had to retire because it was hit by a drunk driver, he almost lost his left leg but never gave up and is now he is  an project manager at Siemens.
God is with us and we are the winners!!!

  • Hi Annie -

My wedding to Derick will be one to remember for more then just the obvious reasons. Derick is in the Army and deployed and he is set to come home just a few short weeks before our wedding day, and yes I pray every day we will have a wedding with a groom as life right now is on the Army's schedule. Derick and I have been friends for about 5 years now and have both been married and now divorced. He really is my best friend and I couldn't ask for a better man to marry. I also have two kids of my own from a previous relationship and he is more then just a (soon-to-be) step-dad to them. Derick has stepped in and helped raise my kids and they love him so much and could not ask for a better father then he is to them.

My wedding is very unique because we are just block from the largest state fair grounds, right during the middle of the fair. I am really looking forward to my trash the dress picture session - AT THE FAIR! Our wedding will be one of the first events many of the soldiers who are returning with Derick will be attending. Not only will our wedding be a celebration of our love and our life together but it will be a welcome home party for many men.

Another very unique aspect of my wedding is my flower girl. Paige is my surro-princess. I was a surrogate mother and gave birth to her a little over a year ago (she will be just a few months shy of age 2 at the wedding).

I am making a lot of things for the wedding, and have the help of a good group of friends to help make things if I am unable to do so. Our theme is a fall theme and we will have local honey and home made jam and scones at our wedding. It really will be a day to remember.

  • My husband and I have been dating since we were 15. We were born on the same day, in the same hospital. We met at a local youth group in Florida and well, I knew he was the one when I met him. Of course I was young and naive..but dang was he something else! We dated throughout highschool..had our shares of ups and downs. After we graduated he went off to the Marines and I wrote him every day! He ended up stationed in Hawaii and of course I followed him. We actually eloped so I could just be there with him! Meanwhile, I'm planning my DREAM wedding!!

Finally, after lots of training and deployments, we find a day to have it. Aprill 11th, 2010 was the day! I found the perfect place on this site called Cross Creek Ranch! While we were on vacation we checked it out and LOVED it! It had everything we wanted. The stables, the huge tree with spanish moss (which I had sunflowers placed in) for the ceremony, and the horse ranch! It was a photographers dream! Brandon of course wore his dress blues (and it was the first time I EVER saw him in them!!). I wore an amazing Maggie Soterro dress that only God knew I would get a hold of!! All my gals wore tie-dye style DIY dresses and the men wore flannel shirts! Growing up, my hubby and I were known as the tie-dye/flannel couple! :)

I had peacock feathers in my hair, and in my orange sunflower bouquet! The favors we decided on was a "Make yourself a caramel apple" at a station in one of the stables! The dance floor was in the middle of the stable with lights dangling from the ceiling and sunflowers hanging from them! My husbands father was our officiant, since that's what Brandon wanted! Basically, our wedding was AMAZING and I believe it should be featured on the site and magazine! Thanks and reading and VOTE FOR MY WEDDING!! tehe :)

  • Oh yeah, my colors were red and yellow. We ate the best BBQ buffet style food from Hungry Harrys and had a peanutbutter and jelly cake!! Our first dance song was "Everything" by Lifehouse. We had a photo booth in the front stable with cowboy hats, boas, etc! We also had horseshoes and a fire pit for the guests to enjoy! So it was not only fun for us, but for those invited as well!!!

  • My name is Ashley. My fiancé, Danny, and I met our sophomore year in high school. We ran cross country together and saw each other basically every day. It was that fall he asked me to Homecoming and soon after we started dating. It was fun, random and spontaneous. Neither one of us was expecting what this became, but we were just drawn to one another. We were living in the moment and simply going with the flow. We have now been together for 5 years 8 months.

We are now both entering our final year of college. I attend the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, IN where I study studio art. Danny goes to the United State Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD where he studies computer engineering. At the Naval Academy he studies like a normal student but he has required training time as well. So instead of seeing each other every day like we did in high school we now see each other a max of 10-12 weeks for the entire year. Actually our first summer apart we only had 3 phone calls of 5 minutes each, which I shared with his parents. That fall we began using a webcam to make our daily conversations more “normal”. It allows us to see and talk every day which is very nice and greatly appreciated. The past 3 years of college we have eagerly awaited every time we get to see one another and every webcam chat.

He proposed this past Thanksgiving Break. It was November 27th, 2009, Black Friday. We went to our favorite Chinese restaurant and while in the parking lot Danny told me to stop. He had a new magic trick to show me. He always did magic tricks in high school so I wasn’t suspicious at all. He had a quarter which after some smooth moves and magic words he hid it. Then right in front of my eyes he transformed it into a diamond ring. I was so overjoyed and I still have the quarter. The quarter was important too because I always told him to not spend a lot of the money on the ring. This way he only “spent” a quarter. It’s amazing because the ring really is like the physical embodiment of who I am and who we are as a couple.

Planning has been going well even if our process is a bit unconventional because we only have 10-12 weeks during a year to see one another and decide upon things. We try to look at as many things as possible via webcam so that we can make good decisions with the minimum amount of time we have. To get everything done we must plan ahead and accomplish as much as we can during college breaks. It’s a balancing act between use of the webcam and what needs us in person. The wedding is June 11, 2011. First the process of choosing the date was tough. You see once he graduates he has 30 days until he must be at his first location for duty. That doesn’t give much time for a wedding, a honeymoon, packing and travel. On top of that one weekend was taken because of a friends' wedding and another was booked at the church. We finally picked the date and secured the church. We will be getting married in a big cathedral style church with stained glass windows and vaulted ceilings. I am Catholic and I come from a Catholic family so having a Catholic wedding was very important to my family, Danny and me. The priest who will be marrying us is actually a friend of the family. We have meticulously picked out every reading and song to take place in the wedding. There will also be a sand ceremony instead of a unity candle so that we may display it in our future home. We are hoping to personalize our aisle runner in someway. We will do this ourselves and we are possibly thinking of either a monogram, or just decorations. Either way it will accent us and the wedding. The programs at the wedding will be personally designed and produced by us. Family and friends will administer them before the ceremony. At the end of the ceremony everyone will blow bubbles into the air as we leave the church. The wedding party will leave in a caravan of hand decorated cars. We are planning a Chinese fire drill in our time square stop light. At the reception there will be appetizers and drinks in the lobby. The Escort Cards can all be found here as well. They are hand designed by me as well. They will continue with our colors and be placed into a small slit in the back of a sea shell. Instead of buying the shells we have found all the ones ourselves and will cut the slits as well. There will be a few signs around the reception pointing out the different things available as well as the location of certain things. All of these signs will be designed by us and placed in small boxes of sand. The boxes will have been built by us too. All of the tables will not simply be numbered. Instead since we both love various languages they will say “love” in different languages, such as: liebe, amore, la’amo, etc. The reception is not an ocean theme but it is meant to emulate the feeling of being completely care free at the ocean or beach at night. We are creating our own candy bar along with a chocolate fountain. The meal is personally chosen by us as well. There will be a slideshow including pictures of us over the years as well as those close to us. All the invitations will be designed and created by my fiancé and me.  Every last detail will be selected by us. They all have a reason and are very important to us and the overall effect.

We deserve this because we are truly, madly in love. We have survived so many things and will be one of the few high school sweet hearts to make it. This would be amazing for us in so many ways and it would indeed be a blessing for all our effort.

We would love to have our wedding featured! My fiance has probably done about 97% of our planning and he would be overjoyed to have others see all his hard work and maybe get some great ideas from it! He's done everything from pick the venue (The Springs Preserve here in fabulous Las Vegas!) to helping design the chuppah that we will be making together for our traditional Jewish wedding. He even surprised my mom and myself with tickets to New York to go dress shopping.

He has a large family and I don't, and his family has also been hugely supportive in all the planning offering up some great ideas (booking the Media Suite at Mandalay Bay to all hang out in during down time!) and listening when things get overwhelming without putting in their 2 cents!

Our wedding on October 10th is going to be a huge party for friends and family as well as the day that we will forever join our lives. Despite all the planning that has gone into it, our main focus has always been that moment when we are announced as man and wife!

Planning for any event is strenuous, but even more so for a wedding and if our wedding can inspire ideas to ease the planning for anyone else we would be so thrilled Laughing! Below are some of the fun and unique things we'll be doing at our wedding:

~Fortune Tellers with our wedding motif and fun wedding facts inside for people to play with before the cermemony
~Scratch off lottery tickets and shiny new pennies as favors - hope someone wins!
~Eco friendly invites, kippot, programs and centerpieces
~Rock Band at the reception for the kids - young and old alike!
~Traditional Jewish ceremonies that will include most guests (Tish, Kabbalat Panim, etc.)
~Table names that are representative of us as a couple and things near and dear to our hearts (I.E. our kitties!!!)
~Great food, great musice and LOADS of fun!!

    Thank you!
  • My fiance and I will be married on Dec 18th, 2010 after dating 5 wonderful years. We have been engaged for 2 years. We wanted a short engagement, but unfortunately both his mom and his aunt were diagnosed with cancer shortly before and after our engagement so we pushed the date back. We will be so happy to celebrate the memory of his aunt and to see him dance with his mom who is fully healthy!

We will be married in my home church and have the reception in Frankenmuth, MI where we had both our first date and where he proposed to me under a Christmas Tree. This tree has set the theme for entire wedding. We will have everything from Christmas trees at the alter, a hot chocolate bar with cookies for our favor, a holiday signature drink, and a carol book with our programs. Our colors are crimson, gold, and evergreen.

We have been budgeted in many ways and DIY in many as well, but very theme and tradition oriented. Frankenmuth is not only significant to our personal history, but also our heritage since it is  "Michigan's Little Bavaria" and we are both of German decent. (We haven't decided where, but we plan on hiding a pickle...)

I would love to see a holiday wedding featured on the show and we would be happy to share our day with the other knotties out there!

  • We do not have an elaborate story, nor anything to bring tears, but we are two people with two very different backgrounds that have decided we would like to share our story as well. We feel that our wedding should be featured because of the many obstacles and constraints that we have encountered along the way. Our wedding date is August 14, 2010.
Todd and I meet on eHarmony.com, and the rest is history. I'm a dual career woman 1. working as a DOD Civilian and 2. US Naval Reservist. Todd is a single parent of three children. We have had to make any life changing decisions. The decision to become married came from me. It was planned that i would be getting deployed in August of 2010. There was no big proposal, nor was there a ring involved in the proposal.  We received allot of slack from friends about the no ring, but us being together was enough for me.
We started planning mid January for our Big day in August. i have always dreamed of a big wedding, at my parents house, the reception and this fabulous hotel, horse drawn carriage and so on. Well when i met Todd that all changed as i was now living in a different demographic area.
he wanted the big church wedding and beautiful reception and so did I. We have planned every detail on our own. We didn't hire a wedding planner to save money and do things the way we wanted.
We decided on a very traditional wedding. We are getting married at St.Hugo of the hills stone chapel @ 2pm. We are only having a ceremony because we are both of different backgrounds. I wanted to keep my tradition within the church and Todd agreed to get married in the Catholic Church. There is no real theme except the colors of black and white. the men will be wearing tuxedos and the girls will be wearing black with white, long formal dresses. I decided on a Maggie dress that i found a a Maggie trunk show @ https://www.beckersbridal.com
All the flowers are white with black calla lilies. the church is very historic - so we have opted to not go overboard on decorating, so only the runner and some pew bows.
We are currently have 10 people stand up with us, which three of them are the children, and they are excited about the occasion
We have opted to take more pictures after the church at our home, where the atmosphere is a little laid back. After some pictures we will be going to a restaurant for a few minutes to relax before the reception.
Our reception is going to be held at Club Monte Carlo in Shelby MI. This venue , Todd picked out. The room we fell in love with, cost us a bit more and we wanted, but they found out i was in the military and gave us a price we couldn't refuse. We are having a family style dinner. Not much decor as it would take away from what is already there.
We have opted to not go on a honeymoon at this time with military constraints and the children are starting in a new school this year and we believe the family comes first. We plan on taking a honeymoon sometime in the winter months.
Our gifts for our attendents are pretty simple. TheKnot.com came to the rescue with aloth of ideas and bought some egraved beer mugs for the gentlmen and personalized totes for the ladies.
To everyone your dream wedding is possible on a budget. Its just a matter of finding the right resources. one of my aunts took on the responsibility of doing all my floral arragements for the girls and the reception. one of my groomsman's mother gave us a steal on a 5 tier cake. The church is not charging us for the use of the facility.  I decided to step into a member discount craft store and bought a memebership for 25 dollars - in the end saving over $300.00 on all the glassware and ribbon - and reception essentials. Networking really helped us keep things on track and engourage new bride to bes the same.

Thank you for giving us the oppertunity to share our story.

Hi!  We are going to be married on October 16th and you should feature us!  My fiance proposed on June 25th and by July 2nd (1 week later!!!)  almost the entire wedding was planned and booked.  This may not seem impressive, but it's for a wedding of about 200-250 people.  I didn't know he was planning to propose, but once he did everything fell into place and our dream wedding is becoming a reality.  By the end of the second week after the proposal I will have dropped off the last of the deposits and everything will be finished!  We are going with a vintage glam theme and have  replaced some traditional aspects with our own style.  For instance, my bouquet will not be made of flowers, but brooches in our wedding colors given to me by friends and family (a great keepsake for my daughters too!).  The ceremony will be taking place in a large, 110 year old church complete with beautiful cathedral ceilings and stained glass in every window.  It is a truly gorgeous church.  I am making my own centerpieces for the reception and they have feathers, pearls and lace in place of floral.  These are just a few details that will make our wedding unigue, classy and fun!  If you feature us, you will not be disappointed!!!
  • Hello Annie,

My fiance, Bernard, and I are getting married at a conservatory of music where my aunt, an organist and music teacher will play us down the aisle on their grand piano.  Our recessional will surprise the guests as an Ethiopian children's choir will sing us out. As a teen and college student I traveled to Ethiopia twice to volunteer and our guests will value how much a part of me the music is.

The men will wear gray tuxes and the women, two styles of a charmeus fuschia gown AND I can't wait to see our 4, 2 and 1 1/2 year old flower girls in their fuschia-dyed petticoats!

Our other venue, the Milwaukee Public Market, is a non-profit that is relatively new for weddings. It is a beautiful lofty space where our guests will mingle and dance all night. They will drink "Kellinis" vs. Bellinis since Kelly will be our last name.  Bernard, who does stand up and improv comedy part-time, has planned table numbers featuring comedian names for our 120 guests to find their spots and to laugh and break the ice with their table "mates."

Since music is so important to us, we also hosted an engagement/ RIP party to mourn our single selves where the DJ played a soundtrack of the last 8 years of our dating and single lives.

Thank you for considering us and giving so many Knotties an opportunity to share their special days!
  • My wedding isn't until July 2011, but it's going to be amazing!  My FMIL is making my dress and all my bridesmaids dresses.  I'm doing a few DIY projects (trying not to overdo my planning!  FI is worried I'm taking too much on!)

But the biggest awesome thing about my wedding is the venue.  I'm having my reception at a hotel in New Castle, Delaware... which sounds very normal.  But this hotel is actually where I had my very first piece of wedding cake when I was 3.  My father used to be the Food & Beverage Director for this hotel more than 20 years ago.  One day, he left his wallet at home, so my mother had to bring it to him.  Since Iw as only 3, I of course had to go along.  The women that worked with my dad all thought I was too cute!  They were cutting up the wedding cake of the wedding that was happening when my mom and I stopped by, and they gave me a piece of wedding cake.  It's the earliest memory I have... and the fact that I get to now get married there 25 years later to my best friend still makes me get teary.
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

  • Hi Annie,

What a great opportunity! And likewise, what a hard decision you will have to make!

Our wedding is on Saturday, August 14, 2010.  It will be a sunset ceremony at Belle Mer's Island House in Newport, RI.

Part of what makes our wedding unique are the circumstances under which it was planned.  Throughout our wedding planning process my fiance moved 1000 miles away to do a pharmacy residency in FL. While I stayed up north, moved twice, and spent 12 months traveling for work.  Every Monday - Thursday I was working and wedding planning from a hotel in Chicago, spending as many weekends as possible in FL to enjoy my fiances company and wedding plan!

One of the down sides of being on the road is that it doesn't leave much time for DIY.  Since I really wanted a lot of custom touches to our wedding, I became entralled in the world of Etsy, where I found a lot of very talented people who helped make my unique vision come to life.

Out of my determination to have unique elements at our wedding came the need for not just a monogram, but a wedding logo. I described my idea of the logo design to a very artistically inclined friend (also my MOH), and she made it come to life! This logo is being featured on all of our wedding stationary as well as matchbooks and cocktail napkins.

Like most brides, I could probably write you a book on my wedding vision and planning escapades, but I will spare you.  Sealed I will instead leave you with a short list of a few of my favorite things about our wedding that I think also give our guests a once in a life time experience.

    • My oceana colored Maggie Sottero gown
    • Photo booth
    • Dueling Pianos for the reception
    • Our blue and brown vision, sprinkled with a wine theme
    • Mad Hatter Style Wedding Cake
    • Amazing photographer Brian Phillips
    • Our officiant who is my fiance's cousin. This will be his first wedding as he was ordained specifically for our wedding

My fiance and I have been dating on and off for almost 10 years now; we're high school sweethearts.  It seems like a long time to date, but we know we're ready now for the rest of our lives.  We know there isn't a chance we could live without each other, and we want to share that with everyone.  We just got engaged, and we're now facing the rather daunting task of planning our wedding.  Honestly, neither of us want to wait a minute longer, but of course we can't plan a wedding over night. (Vegas anyone?)

We plan on trying to keep our wedding within
budget by going with a winter wedding.  There are so many wonderful DIY ideas it's actually hard to narrow them  down!  We'll use a lot of ambiance lighting and just enough evening sparkle to create that magical winter wonderland and still not go into debt for half our marriage.  So far we are still looking for an elegant yet simple venue where we'll have access to a small wooded area for some cozy pictures (hopefully) in glistening snow!

Having our wedding featured would be an amazing treat for us.  Winning would help us keep our budget down while still sharing o
ur day with all  the people we love, and having the opportunity to add some extra sparkle we couldn't afford on our own.  We're in love.  Why not share it with the world?!?
  • I think our wedding should be featured becuase of the intimate DIY details I have incorporated into our DC wedding and we did it on a budget because any brides cant have a platinum wedding! We are getting married in the DC area and have incorporated the charm of the city into our details. We picked a very old world hotel in the heart of DC where back in the day the Kennedys and other presidents used to like to hang out. We loved the old school DC vibe of the ballrooms and the very unique outside garden a rarity in a bit city. We decided to take the plunge and go for the more expensive venue on an off day, a Friday. We are getting married memorial day weekend May 27,2011. We selected this weekend because that is the weekend my fiance and I met a few years back. We wanted to select a day with some meaning! We are also incorporating how we met with our engagement photos and using one of the photos on our save the date. We met in the elevator of our apartment building so we are going to take some of our engagement pictures in elevators around DC. We also incorporated DC into our invitations. My talented aunt sketched a drawing of the DC monuments and cherry blossoms and this will be on our invitations, programs, and menus. We are also have a metro (what we call the subway here in DC) themed escort card display with each table named after a metro stop. Our wedding also screams spring time in DC with a color palette of lavender and grey. My dress and the bridesmaid dresses also have slight springy details and have flowers on them. For our guestbook we are getting together wedding photos of our family members with the names and dates of their weddings and the last page will be my fiance and i and our wedding date. We also have a big sweet tooth so we are getting a small 2 tiered wedding cake and then multiple single tiered cakes of all kinds of flavors. The main 2 tiered cake will also bring some of my mom's family tradition from Argentina where you place charms attached to ribbon into the cake and all the single girls/women pull the ribbon and whoever gets the ring charm is said to be the next to marry.

So as you can tell we have put a lot of ourselves into this wedding with all the little details! When I was interviewing a lot of planners (we were looking for a day of coordinator) a bunch of them said my ideas couldn't be done on my budget. But we did it and it wasn't that hard, sometimes you just need to think outside the box and work with what you have!
  • I LOVE The Knot.

Flipping through the magazine and spending time on the website has given me so many ideas! The forums are so helpful, too! Oh- and what great stuff at the Knot's wedding shop!

The wedding to my fabulous Fi is going to be wonderful, and I have to give much thanks to the Knot. From centerpiece ideas, hair ideas, dress links, and of course the shopping, you will see all kinds of influences from theKnot on our special day, September 11, 2010.

I have Chinese heritage, (Along with African, Spanish, and Native American), and my Fi lived in Japan for a year. We will have an Asian inspired wedding. So, I have made hundreds of origami cranes in various shades of green, which will hang from my centerpieces- thus combining two great decor ideas that I discovered here and in the magazine.

I made my table numbers with an idea I borrowed from a fellow Knottie. My maids will be wearing a dress of their choice in the same hue of clover green from Alfred Angelo- thanks again, the Knot!

We will be making our own bouquets, and I found plenty of inspiration in the tons of photos here.  Our cake is coing from a Knot picked bakery. Our DJ, also Knot approved. And our photog came from the knot in a round about way as well. (His wife was fetured here, but was unavailable, so she recommended him.)

I don't know what I would have done planning a wedding in such a short time if I didn't have the resources you provide. The planning (we got engaged in March and are pretty much done!) has been relatively stress free because of all the great articles and forum topics provided here. The only snag happened last week when my pastor had to back out of our ceremony due to a schedule conflict. Luckily, an old friend came back into our lives just the previous weekend, is ordained, and will be marrying us. (SIGH- huge relief.) See! Everything comes together.

Some unique ceremony pieces- we will be having a unity cross, and our officiant will give us our first communion as husband and wife.

The ceremony will be simple, the reception a party like no other! We have friends and family coming from all over the country, and some from Canada and Germany, too. We're not going to have a formal exit because we want to spend the night with our guests before they make their long treks home. All held in the same location, in Charlotte, NC, from outdoor ceremony to indoor reception, it will be beautiful and fun.

    We can't wait!

Check out our website for more details about us and the big day at www.aliciaandchris.nearlyweds.com !Laughing Make sure to pin the map!

    66 days! (but who's counting?!)

  • Hello!

The Knot has never seen anything like this!  My name is Andrea, and my fiancé’s name is Dave.  I'm an elementary art teacher and Dave is a high school English teacher.  That's right.  The bride is a crazy art teacher who is a slave to artistic details, has a plethora of crazy ideas, and loves unique designs.  Our wedding is going to be truly one of a kind with oodles of artistic DIY, memorable moments and keepsakes, surprises for our guests, and everything is done on two modest teacher budgets (quite a challenge!).

Our wedding and reception will take place on July 29, 2011 at the Lehmann Mansion in Illinois.  It’s a very unique venue and we are both thrilled to have it as the place that we will begin our new life as husband and wife.  Our theme is best summed up in one word: eclectic.  From meaningful bridal party DIY gifts and accessories, to personalized goodies for the guests, memorable and meaningful centerpieces, and more, there’s plenty of stuff for brides and future brides to drool over!

Want to see what an art teacher’s wedding will look like?  Nominate us to be showcased on The Knot and be visually and emotionally blown away!

  • Hi Annie,

    Here is our story

    Past:
I met my Michael in Camelot  - Regional LI dinner theater so I guess you can say I did meet my knight in shining armor - except it took 13 years to get here (with a 7 year hiatus) One marriage and a divorce later, he finally proposed April 2010.   We still keep in touch with his Ex as she was a friend to both of us and no hard feelings anywhere existed. We even ran into each other bridal dress shopping this past weekend.

    Present:

Our wedding will have a 1940's themed and will be held at a Lessing’s Mansion; Timber Point, Great River, NY on January 8, 2011.

We are lucky to have friends who sing with bands - so we will have a 20 piece Big band to contribute to the 1940s mood who will play with a DJ too.  We plan to rock the reception with a choreographed first dance and swing dance.

When I think of my wedding I think lace, ivory, candles, history and no flowers (b/c I am allergic.)

    I am DIY-ing the following;

    • Vintage engagement photos – I created
    • Save the dates – I designed
    • Invitations – I designed
    • Pocket wedding programs– as seen on  The Knot
    • Birdcage veil for me and the bridesmaids– as seen on  The Knot
    • Bouquets – to be made by my Mother in law
    • Sign in photo guest book – as seen on  The Knot - I designed
    • Place card holders and table numbers as seen on The Knot – I designed
    • Hall decorations (we are honoring our past with photos of past generations’ wedding photos in old frames on fireplace mantels)
    • Favors (hand made pearl napkin rings and angel ornaments made by my mom)
    • Centerpieces (lace, candles and doilies)
    • and Elvis. We are getting married on his birthday! so we will pay tribute with blue suede shoes for me and karaoke sung by a friend -hopefully in costume. I am a fan of the King. Not so 1940s I know….

Overwhelming – yes but with family who are willing to lend a hand and crafty friends it will all come together beautifully.

    Future:

    Happily ever after....

  • Hello,

My name is Barbara Settles and I started planning my wedding early spring 2010and so far so good. I have been blessed so far to have everything come together. The amazing thing is that we are doing this wedding on less than $4000. There is a total of 10 in the wedding party and mostly everything except the food will be done by myself and the help of friends. The wedding is Sunda, August 1st and we would love for you to be our guests.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Knot Annie,

Our August 21, 2010 outdoor evening wedding at the Southern Tree Plantation in Blairsville, Georgia should be chosen to be a featured Knot Wedding because we have creatively incorporated personalized details into every aspect of our wedding! Like so many others I am a budget bride but I don’t feel as though I have had to compromise on anything, just be more creative!

‘Our Story’-Tyler and I met three years ago while we were working at a summer camp, in GA. Tyler didn’t even notice me during the summer but I caught his eye at his going away party before he moved up to NYC for an internship in television. Two months later I visited him in NY determined to come home with a boyfriend, well I didn’t, but two weeks later we decided to date even though we were miles apart and didn’t know where I would be living. (I had recently graduated and was searching the country for an AmeriCorps program that was involved with water quality work.) Two weeks after we started to date I got a job in NJ, where I was only a two hour train ride away from Tyler. After dating for two years and only seeing each other on the weekends, Tyler proposed in the same place where we first held hands, on a bench in Battery Park. A month later I moved to Vt to get my masters degree and Tyler moved back to GA to get a job closer to our families before the wedding. We have never really lived in the same place or have been able to date like a normal couple so our wedding will really be the start of a whole new life! Planning a wedding that will take place over 1,000 miles away has been a fun and very interesting adventure!

The Ceremony Details- It is at a gorgeous area surrounded by the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. Our guests will be greeted with handmade program fans and iced waters to cool off with. I am wearing a beautiful Sottero and Midgley gown, Katherine style, that I feel in love with from the moment I saw it! The bridesmaids are wearing dark red full length, one shoulder gowns and each carrying their favorite flower. The groomsmen’s boutonnieres will match the flower of the bridesmaid they will be escorting and my bouquet will be made of one flower from each of the bridesmaids bouquets surrounded by red roses (Symbolizing that they each make up a part of me). We are having a unity ‘flower’ ceremony (where we arrange a vase of flowers) on a table, that my father is making for the wedding and our future house. During this time our groomsmen will be performing an acoustic version of a Coheed and Cambria song. (They are a Christian rock band) We do not have any younger family that we are close to, so our flower girls and ring bearer (carrying the grooms childhood stuffed dog dressed in a tuxedo) are teenagers. The girls are wearing chucks with their dresses and the RB is wearing a fedora to top off his look.

The Reception will follow onsite in a converted barn that will have lights hanging from the rafters and a view of the sunset over the mountains. The celebration will be kicked off with cocktails including two signature drinks; The Spangs Splash (after my nickname) and a nonalcoholic drink- The Flowers Fluff (named after Tyler). The toast will be with our favorite dessert wine which is actually from a local vineyard. The chairs are white so we choose black table linens decorated with red rose petals and white tea and votive candles. In the middle will be a reused wine carafe with a single red rose inside illuminated from the bottom through waterpearls. The favors, at each seat, will be in silver tins tied with a bow and filled with pretzels hand dipped in chocolate and M&M’s (our favorites).

Our favorite details: In place of a monogram we have a drawing of Tyler, in a tux, holding a video camera and myself wearing waiters under my wedding dress to highlight our two passions (water and film). This is featured on our programs, menus and favors. It is also being made out of sugar to be the topper to our cake which will be covered in white homemade fondant, with a hand painted black ‘river’ flowing up the three tiered, multi-flavored cake with red roses to add a pop of color.

When Tyler proposed he had a friend who is a professional photographer take pictures without me knowing. They were taken in such rapid succession that they can be flipped through and you can see the whole proposal like it was on film, him putting the ring on me and all! At the guestbook table we will have a flipbook of the proposal and a scrapbook of our relationship. Guests will then be able to help continue our story by signing pages that will be added to the scrapbook as our wedding pages. The table numbers also highlight our relationship and are places that mean the most to us as a couple. Pretty much every detail mentioned has a DIY component and has been designed by Tyler and myself to make this a truly detail oriented, personalized and fun affair.

The night will end with a sparkler exit and our new lives together, back in Georgia close to our friends and family will begin, after a trip to Disney World! We hope that our details standout and that you choose to feature our wedding!
