  • J -- have you used a revolver before? I love how I just have to pop open the chamber and it is a lot easier.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Leap night! (Wednesday night thread) : Do you have packing stores that don't put your info on the box there?  I go to one here, and they don't need to put my name on the box, they use their address as the return address and then if the box gets sent back, they call you up.

<div>Ooh, good idea. The smallest PO box is $17 for three months. </div>
  • Thanks! I think it is my proudest DIY wedding thing. They retail on etsy for like $300-400 and I think mine cost me $100 total for supplies.

  • Oh, looking closer I guess that IS a bit bigger than what I want, Chrissy.  Fail.

[QUOTE]I know absolutely nothing at all about guns.  Nothing.

<div>All I know is that I'm probably too uncoordinated to use one. Considering I managed to hurt myself while reading, I should probably stay away from firearms.</div>
  • I was pretty nervous the first time I loaded a gun and got ready to shoot. After a few rounds that kind of went away though. I haven't gone shooting in FOREVER though. I think I'm gonna get a revolver as a graduation present to myself next spring. ;)

  • MuSu, I really like it. I remember when you were putting it together and having some doubts or something, but it looks great.

I've not.  Revolvers and shotguns are two I've no experience with.

  • I know that the Taurus "The Judge" gun shoots shotgun shells. Not sure if that is the same one though. My grandpa has that one.

[QUOTE]I was talking to one of my distant cousins tonight (he's a detective), and he mentioned a gun he thought every woman should have.  I think he said it shot shotgun shells or something similar, so your aim doesn't have to be spot on to stop someone.  I can't remember the name, though, so I'm probably no help.

</div><div>I prefer shooting shotguns over handguns any day. I went to state in FFA for trapshooting. REPRESENT!

  • I think it's good to have a healthy fear of guns.  They still make me a little nervous, but it's just enough to make me be thinking about safety--not so much it makes me a nervous wreck or anything.

I've also shot my dad's gas assisted assault rifle. That is a beast. It's so fun to put a buch of holes in somethingt. Pumpkins, cans, the ground ,etc.

That makes me sound crazy. I promise, I just live in the middle of nowhere and that's what we do!
  • Thanks Special. :) I was doubting myself for a while but with my mom's help, it worked great.

J -- you should try one at a shooting range sometime! A shotgun I'm not a huge fan of. The sound and kickback always shake me up. I've only shot them a few times.

Holly I wouldn't own a gun if I didn't know how to shoot one. I took a handgun basics class that was 4 hours long. When I get a carry license, I will have to take another class. I think it is really irresponsible to own guns when one does not know how to operate them.

[QUOTE]Special, yeah, I hear ya on that.  Since I have no idea how to shoot a gun, I don't think it's smart to own one.  I'm also not certain I could ever shoot someone, so I'd be the idiot that brought a gun to a situation where there previously wasn't a gun, the guy would take it away from me, and I'd get shot with my own gun.  I don't want that.

Yeah, as soon as H started keeping guns in the house, I made him teach me how to load them and use them and do anything I might need to do with them.  I'm not comfortable having a gun in the house that I don't know how to use.  As it is, we have one that I really hate and I don't like that because I'm not comfortable with it.  If I had to use it, I could, but I'd prefer one of the other 5 we have ;)

  • And really important: have a safe. We have a nice safe where we keep the guns. Those puppies are locked until we are cleaning them, shooting them, etc.

Musu, that looks so beautiful! You have the best wedding pictures.

I know nothing about guns but I want to learn. H has been nagging me about guns lately. I actually have one but it's old. I don't even know what kind of gun it is. It was my grandpa's.

Oh and Hi everyone! I'm having a glass of wine and watching The Last Exorcism.

  • Leap Day was my cousin's 14th birthday although she's been around for 56 years.  On the other hand I will be celebrating my 51st birthday on March 1st!
  • My night was pretty fantastic - I got engaged!
