I have a 2yo DS with my BF, and we have basically been living like we're married without the ring or wedding since before DS was born.
Well, we have been talking about it for a long time (I'm talking years here), but yesterday he took me ring shopping and bought me the engagement ring of my dreams!
I just wanted to say, I know what it's like to wait, and I hope all of you get your proposals soon!!! GL girls, it will happen for you too!!!

There is hope for us? Did you find the cure for cancer? Perhaps you just think you are the first person in the history of ever to get engaged.
Does this mean my engagement is invalid?
Posted by peekaboo2011
Yep, you're engagement is totally invalid.
I'm so excited, maybe there is hope for M and I afterall ;)
Starburst, congrats! Stick around and introduce yourself if you like. I thought your post was sweet. I'm sure you didn't mean anything by it other than some friendly encouragement for anyone feeling frustrated.

I agree. I don't see why everyone had to jump down her throat. I'm sure she was just trying to remind everyone to stay positive and everyone will get their day soon enough:)

We're not trolls (in the internet sense or the too-fugly-to-get-married sense).
And peekaboo-- I think about elventy kittens were murdered during the posting of this post. Your invalid engagement cannot compare. Get over yourself (that was all written in the sarcastic font, FYI).
And OP - F*** off.
Hi girls, I'm a former lurker and last night my BF became my FI!!! We have been together almost 5 yrs and have a 2yo DS, and I have wanted to marry him since our very first date. We kept talking about it from time to time, but he wanted to take his time and make it special, even though we've been living like a married couple since before DS was born (I call him DH just for the sake of simplicity on the Nest since he already pretty much is). Well, we're getting preapproved to buy a house after paying off some debt, and we went casual ring shopping last weekend. Yesterday, we decided to go again...he wanted me to pick out the one I absolutely loved and would love forever, so he didn't want to buy just any ring. Since we're mostly married already I didn't mind helping out, since I got to pick out the one I wanted! We had been shopping for four hours (we went to the Mall of America to hit several different jewelry stores to narrow down what I liked), and were just about to call it quits and head home. I saw one more jewelry store around the corner, and FI said we could go in and take a look. I spotted a beautiful 1ct diamond solitaire in the case and asked the sales lady to see it, even though I thought our price range was limited to .5 ct. I fell in love with it and spent about an hour looking at it, and then almost cried when I had to take it off. I could just imagine looking at it forever and thinking of FI when I did, and I didn't want to let it go. Then we got out of the store and FI asked if it was the "one", and I said yes but that I could go with something different and we didn't have to commit to it now. The store was closing in 10 mins, and FI said "you're worth it, let's go get it" and ran into the store to find someone to sell it to us - 30 mins later we bought my ring and it is off to be sized! He is planning to get down on one knee in the jewelry store when we pick it up Thursday, to formally ask me, before he puts the ring on my finger so I can wear it and look at it all the way home!!!!! I am on cloud nine, this just happened last night and we got home and called all of our parents and let them know and they are so excited for us! His parents thanked us for giving them some good news because they just had to go to a funeral yesterday for a friend's child who passed away. His dad told him he was so proud of him and excited for us! They asked if we set a date yet which caught me off guard since I wasn't even expecting to be engaged! Originally FI said he wanted me to help him pick out the ring but then he was going to surprise me with a proposal once he had a good idea of what I wanted. He said all of it went out the window when he saw how much I loved the diamond, and when he saw it on my finger he couldn't wait to ask me to be his wife!!! I could gush forever, I am just in shock and so happy. I slept about 4 hours but I don't even care, I just keep imagining signing my name "Mrs. Starburst Lastname" and being by his side forever, and his WIFE!!! I can't wait, DS is going to be so excited to be part of the wedding! He's only 2 so he may not really understand what's happening, but all of the people and flowers and ceremony and dancing will be really exciting for him!

How can you be "mostly married?" Really. That's a real question.
It seems like some happy attack that wasn't thought through.
Still, I think "F off" might be a little much.
I apologize to the other NEYers if you believe my response was a bit much. But, if
someone I worked with told me "Don't worry, you can get a better job someday, too!" I would probably tell him/her to fvck off too. But I'm just unladykike like that...
I told y'all I was usin' my sarcastic font!!!!!
Oh no, guys are we the new-OG now? Because newish regs seem to be nicer than us. I am seeing a pattern here... Compared to what this board used to be like, this is nice.

I had this same thought earlier...

And you'd be overreacting to that, too.
Like I said, I get that I OPs post was a little insulting, but I also think it's best just shrugged of as something that was typed without much thought.

No, I'd be using a phrase that I use in daily conversation in jest. That's how I roll. *Shrug* Sorry?

I like your unladylike-ness. This board has too much "I agree with you but couldn't you say it more nicely" lately. And to that I say Fvck off

No reason to apologize, to me at least. We can disagree.

Well, Fvck off to you, too, Beth.
I'm kidding. I think this might be the first time I've even chimed in on a thread like this.

This made me smile, don't ask me why it's just been a long week and I'm in a weird mood.
