Snarky Brides

Saturday night

Anyone around? I'm at my coffee table with some wine and the thank you cards, and writing some of them out. They feel neverending.

I had a g2g with some of my month girls which was also really fun!

What's everyone else up to?

Re: Saturday night

  • Hi I'm here.  Chilin' with H.  He is home until mid-day tomorrow unless the rig people screw up again and it takes longer.  He's on standby though, so he's still being paid *woot*.
  • I'm here. I did wedding errands all day so now I'm just relaxing and watching tv. Tomorrow I am going to attempt a DIY project or two. I can't wait for the day to just get here! I started to watch Woman in Black but I realized I was too tired to watch the whole thing so I turned it off. I may wait until FH returns to watch it just in case it creeps me out.

  • Standby is fun! Being paid to sit at home and relax is the best job ever :)
  • I am kinda here. Enjoying some wine and had some vodka sauce pizza. NOM! I am typing progress notes for my PT job so I don't have to do it tomorrow.

  • Woman in Black was good, but yes it was creepy. I needed H on the couch next to me for it.

Vodka sauce pizza? Intriguing. Do you have a recipe?
  • I have been seriously craving pizza lately. It totally goes against my attempts to eat better. I also want fancy, expensive pizza so at least it is a bit easier to resist.

  • I made vodka sauce last night and with the leftover sauce, I buy dough and fresh mozzarella. It is heavenly. This is the vodka sauce recipe I use http://allrecipes.com/recipe/easy-vodka-sauce/detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=vodka%20sauce&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page I usually tweak it a bit and add peas, garlic, and grilled chicken, along with some spices. It makes a huge amount.

There is a place by us that makes chicken francaise pizza. It is amazing. I am going to miss that when we move.

  • We had 5 Guys for dinner - super healthy LOL.  But I had a salad for lunch - it had lamb, goat cheese, roasted red peppers, orzo pasta, mixed greens, and kalamata olives.
  • Holycrap Loopy! You are having an onion! Hope there is no heartburn associated with that..lol

  • Heeeeey. I just had dinner; I'm starting my "eat a lot more veggies/in general healthier" thing now, since I'm destroying all my hard work in the gym by eating crap. So I had chicken that I baked in wine with onions, carrots and herbs, steamed broccoli and spinach (seasoned with a bit of salt and pepper, and a small amount of parmigiano reggiano), and a small side of sweet potatoes. Go me.

I also ordered my textbooks for school today, gah, 500 bucks. I managed to save about 150 by buying them used online, but it still huuuurts.
  • Haha Denise - nope, no heartburn so far :).
  • MMM that looks delish. Thanks Denise!
  • Sounds yummy Any.
  • It was! I just threw it together, so I kinda feel like a real, cooking adult now for not needing a recipe and it still turning out well.
  • Sounds good Any. I love veggies, with the exception of cauliflower. The only one I cannot eat.

  • Loopy that salad sounds amazing. I loooove lamb. I had a sweet potato tonight too Any. It was part of my eating fun things while FH is away plan. Sorry, i am a little food obsessed right now. I have been looking at recipes for the last few hours.

<div>Me too, although I had to exercise a great deal of willpower not to make a delicious gravy out of the leftover wine to smother everything in.</div>

If anyone likes garlic shrimp, this recipe is awesome and easy. I made it for the 4th of July and it was gone in minutes. I also tweaked that a bit with some white wine and butter.

  • I keep planning to cook, but H keeps coming home (while it's nice to see him) and throwing my schedules all out of whack so then we end up eating out.  But I eat more veggies when I eat out, so maybe it's better that way.
  • I honestly can't think of a single vegetable I don't like. I'd also have a hard time picking my favorite. Spinach, brussels sprouts, and asparagus are high on the list.

  • I just discovered how much I actually like spinach. Since then I've been eating it pretty steadily. My BFF messaged me a couple of days ago and was all "STEPH. I cut back on my carbs and started eating a ton of veggies and my pooch is totally gone." And I'm all, well sh*t, nearly all I eat is fvcking bread, maybe I should get in on this. I hate my pooch! Plus, it's veggies. What could go wrong.
  • I wish H loved veggies as much as I do.

  • I do roasted veggies sometimes - squash, broccoli, peppers, carrots and red potatoes usually spritzed with olive oil and some kind of seasoning mix.
  • Veggies are amazing. I love veggies.
  • Boo veggies.  I never grew out of my "veggies are icky" phase of a  6 year old.

Evening ladies! I just got back from seeing Magic Mike.  It was okay.  I'm not a Channing Tatum fan, and I don't think he's a good actor, but man, can that boy move!

  • Also, a piece of advice for anyone who is going to see it:  Find the oldest women in there, and sit by them.  All the old ladies in the theater were hilarious, and made the movie more enjoyable.

  • Aww, did I kill the thread already?  I don't hate all veggies....lettuce, potatoes, and corn are pretty good.
