WHERE IS EVERYONE?

Seriously, I'm stuck at work for another hour or so, let's chat. Or we can biiiitch about stuff, talk shiiiiit about people, you know...whatevs.

I just passed some guy in the hall and he said "hey, how's Dara today?" I fuuuucking hate when people say that. Why not just ask "how are you?"

Re: WHERE IS EVERYONE?

  • I wasn't planning on leaving early, but I hear that traffic is already starting to get bad so I want out as soon as possible!

  • I have a half-hour left, then I'm going home and taking a nap.

So a CW here sent out a teamwide email telling everyone this was her last day. This resulted in mass emails about how we would all miss her and good luck in future endeavors. I have absolutely no idea who this chick is. Either she just started and was immediately loved by all, or she's been here for awhile and I never knew.

This also sparked an irritation - I effing hate when people hit "reply all." It's like a one-upping contest of who can be the wittiest or smartest in their responses and banter that does nothing but waste time for those not involved.
  • Hi, Im here, I normally work 10-7 but today Im working 8-5, so kinda getting off early.

I am covering the boss's assistant today, so able to be on all day.

  • I am waiting for H to get home so we can go down to the Cape. I can't wait to get out of Boston, but not looking forward to the nightmare my uncle has left the house in.

I took Kieran with me to get a pedicure today, and I was worried he would be a hot mess. Luckily, he was a little charmer. I can;'t say the same for the woman who brought her two older kids (4-5) and let them run all over the place while she got a mani, pedi and her brows waxed. Note to self - once K is walking, do not bring him to the salon while I get all my work done.

Speaking of work, Ben's co-worker is pregnant.  She wants to keep it a secret from their supervisor as long as she can I guess, so Ben and a couple other of the CSRs have been sworn to secrecy.

Anyway I guess she emailed HR to inquire about the dress code for maternity and the HR person then emailed her supervisor.  She was PISSED.

  • Good Afternoon!

I've just finished making Special k bars, am making up my grocery list for tomorrow, and am contemplating where there is anything else I can cook or bake today just to get it done before Sunday's party.
  • Sesh, I hate reply all emails! Our work requires us to do "fun" events in each of our departments. The company gives each department $300 per person to spend on fun outings that we get to leave work (still get paid) and have fun together as a group. My boss sent out an email asking for suggestions on events and because I like to keep count of things, it resulted in 243 replies back and forth. I don't have time to give a shiiit about all those emails.

I would be pissed. My old boss told a bunch of people from other departments before I was telling people. I was pissed.

  • Sesh- That happened through our WHOLE COUNTY e-mail system when I taught. Somehow, someone accidentally was able to e-mail the whole county (100 schools of teachers/staff) and idiots were replying all for fun. Some got in trouble.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: WHERE IS EVERYONE? : That makes no sense to me. Why would the dress code be different for someone who is pregnant? We have to have shoulders covered, no tummy showing, no capris, nothing too low and no short skirts/dresses. That doesn't change when harboring a small human.

LOL - believe me, that was something that crossed my mind yesterday when he was telling me about it.  At any rate, she is really pissed that the HR person blew the whistle on her before she was ready to tell her supervisor.  Yikes.  Isn't HR like, confidential or something?

  • I replied to a post of FB basically calling Michaels cousin irresponsible and trashy. I expected a little fall out from it, but was prepared. She responded "I totally agree, Dara!" uhm, maybe I should have added ignorant to the list!

  • Exactly, HR can probably get in major trouble for this if she wants to pursue it. There is strict confidentiality between HR and employees, not to mention, Pregnancy is medical, therefore isnt it a HIPPA (sp?) violation too???

  • I'm bored.  I'd leave early but there is just a chance that something will come up as soon as I walk out of the building so I am hunkered down at my desk until 4:30.
  • edited May 2012
Did she ask HR not to tell anyone? For all they knew, she had already told people. I don't get her being pissed unless they specifically went against her wishes of remaining confidential.

Crap, dmills. 243 emails would piss me off. I was debating sending out my own email about how annoying their "reply alls" were and that some of us had work to do, but I'm already seen as the office introvert (read: biiiitch) so I decided not to. Luckily, another CW did it for me a few minutes later.

    This made me smile.

To me she secretly wanted to be found out or you wouldnt tell anyone in the first place. Let alone ask a question like that.

I'm here, I have to close today, so that means I get to take my 3 hours next week sometime, I think it will be next Friday! Just want to get home, so my yoga and get this party started!

Ah that could be one thing I guess.

Also I know at the bank, women are required to wear hose to work.  Even if it's under pants.  Maybe she wants an exception to that, lol.

I've got five hours left at work.

I too can't stand when my emails are marked unread. I have to at least click each email open before archiving it.
  • I think I'm leaving at 3. I mean, I probably should, since I've done all of an hour's worth of work today. The last hour or so has been spent watching videos on cloth diapering. I'm totally gung-ho about it now. ha
