Re: I have a shoe problem..

• Steph, I have one pair of silver shoes. I had to wear them in a wedding. I might have actually gotten rid of them.

chels- honestly you may want to rethink that. Even if you are used to them! Your wedding day will be a LONG day on your feet. The last thing you want is the plastic pinching if you get sweaty... and honestly- you will be shocked how many shots you will see after in w hich you can still see your feet despite a long dress.

No, you're not. Plus, do you know how hard it is to find decent, non-fug silver shoes in a wide width, that don't have a 4+ inch heel?

Chels, for the love of all that is good and holy, let them pick their own shoes. They will thank you, even if they say 'oh we'll wear whatever you want us to wear.'

Comfort wise, I should be fine. I've spent full days on my feet before in flip flops and been fine.
I might find something dressier for the ceremony. Idk yet. The ceremony is the only point that would count.

Although.. I could find a really cute navy dressy shoe for the ceremony and it could count as my something blue AND it would match my BMs if anyone were to see it?

Do it. Change into flip flops for the reception and dancing.

Seriously, your shoes will peek out more than you think.
In Response to Re: I have a shoe problem.. : I think it depends on the shoe, and to some degree how "shiny silver" it is. Gold and silver are kind of trendy for shoes right now (although nude may be taking over, so maybe not as much as they used to be) - think of all those gladiator sandals. Metallics are still pretty in. I think the material and the design of a shoe can definitely affect how "prom-y" it looks.
Posted by dannie134
True. I guess flat sandal type things don't bother me in silver... it's not a lot of silver. Anything silver with heels though, especially strappy ones, automatically make me think prom or Jr high.
• If your shoes don't poke out of the front of your dress a little bit when you walk, then your dress isn't hemmed properly.

Everyone's going to watch you walk down the aisle. Wear real shoes.
• Thanks for all the input guys. I realize I was being really weird about shoes, and I'm also not very shoe smart. I own a shitton a flip flops, otherwise it's my bierkenstock clogs, fake uggs, black flat boots, black flats, or brown flats. I am not a shoe person haha.
• I just picture the flip flops squeaking down the aisle. And that noise it makes when it slaps against the back of your foot. Oh sweet baby Jesus, chels. Please wear the dressy navy shoes.
panther
• Chels- Those navy sandles that dot posted would be cute under your dress. I really don't think you should wear flip flops and this comes from a girl who lives in flip flops. The reception is one thing but the chuch? You need real shoes.

• Chels, I would advise against wearing cheap flip flops for your wedding. If you absolutely want to wear flip flops, I would spring for a nice pair of Nike ones that have a little bit of support or cushion, or try to find something that is a flat that gives support. I was all about not wearing heels at my wedding, but thank God I had shoes that had some support (and I put in the gel insoles, too). You're going to be stressed like no other, on your feet literally the entire day, and your body is already going to be worn down a little from all the pre-wedding hype/excitement. Don't make yourself miserable with $2 shoes.

Think of your dress, doesn't it deserve a pretty pair of real shoes when you marry your best friend?

Here is another option from DSW. I wore these in silver for my MOH's wedding. They were comfortable.

• ANd if you wore flip flops when you hemmed your dress, you'll need to stick with a kitten heel or a flat, but still, wear a real shoe. But not KEDS for the love of all that is holy. My friend wore red ones, and she thought (and still does) that it was so cool, but really, it looked classless.

This. I thikn it is disrespectful to your dress to not accessorize it properly, including shoes. You wouldn't go anywhere in that dress without your hair fixed and makeup on, right? Same rule.

I didn't read the entire thread so I'm not sure if this was already mentioned, but Target has some nice shoes that are affordable. A few weeks ago, there was a buy one get one 50% off sale. I think I paid about $30 for two pairs of shoes. I needed a pair of bronze heels and I didn't want to pay a lot since I'll probably only wear them once.

I also wanted to throw this out there... I HATE ON flip flops. I bought a pair a few summers ago because so many people raved about how great they were. They killed my feet. Most uncomfortable shoes ever. I probably wore them 5 times before I threw them out. My sister is actually buying ON flip flops for her BMs to wear at her reception. I asked her to please not to buy a pair for me - I'd honestly be more comfortable in heels than ON flip flops (and I hate wearing heels).

(I don't think this brand provides much support, fyi)
• I feel all Klassy now. My bridesmaids all wore silver sandals. Embarassed It looked good with the purple dresses (knee length).
• I do wear ON flip-flops. They are awesome at the lake and the beach. Unfortunately my dog has eaten all the pairs I owned in the past year - like, 4 or 5 of them.

I wanna see Chels' dress now too! Your wedding is sure coming up fast.

• My shoes were silver. But my dress was light blue, and silver matched better than white or any other shade of blue I could find.

My reception shoes were silver flip-flops, but with a kind of wedge heel. So maybe more like a sandal? They're hard to explain without a pic. But we were outside by the water, so whatever.
• Chelsea, I love you.

Please wear real shoes.

Please let your BMs get their own shoes.

Please know I'm saying this because I love you and I want you to be pretty.

First fitting is this coming Saturday so I should be good. I wont' wear heels.. I trip when I wear those haha
• I am not the best in heels, either. Heels I consistently wear are usually wedges - the flat bottoms are what I like. My wedding heels were pretty modest, maybe a couple inches? Not sure.

• Ha, Chels, I say this with love, but really? Only you would have a thread four pages long about flip flops in church.

Also, everyone saw my shoes in chuch. I knew the exact moment, too, because there was a collective murmuring about pink shoes. You're a grown lady. Wear real shoes.
• Oh and PS I remember that dress now, Chels. Didn't you have it in your sig for a while? You look pretty :)

• Gorgeous dress and you look beautiful in it Chels.

So no heel at all huh?

I'm also probably one of the only people dumb enough to think flip flops woulda worked. Better to have it pointed out now rather than AFTER the wedding ;)

I really have no clue what I was thinking.

Yeah AATB it was my sig for a bit. That picture is almost a year old already. I can't believe it!
• Beautiful dress! Please don't wear flip flops with it. That will break my shoe lovin' heart. :)

Have you thought about a pretty ballet slipper? Those would look really beautiful and still give you the comfort you want.

Chels, my MOH wore those navy Nina Culver heels that were in the Zappos search that Dot posted, and she said they were really comfortable. The heel is pretty minimal, and you could probably put gel insoles in them.

ETA: Plus, with Zappos, you can order a buncha shoes, get them all with free 2 day shipping, try them on, and ship back what doesn't work for free.

"Smash's balls are the biggest balls of them all." -AATB

• So no heel? You can find ten million cute flats at DSW AND I bet you can get navy/pink ones, which would be cute. Or you can pink a little pink flower on navy flats, if you like that look.
