I wouldn't tell someone  that they were a drama llama or sh*t stirring or whatever else for expressing that they have a problem with someone's use of the word rape as a metaphor for something completely incongruous. But I guess that is just a difference between you and me.
    Posted by nickandmerritt[/QUOTE]

    Hey Merritt---I'M OVER HEEEERRRREEEE.

I'm the one who used the rape metaphor, so if you want to address ANYONE about that, you let me know. If you have such a problem with the way that I use my words, you can address ME. Don't be a passive-aggressive whiner...if it offended you so much, you may want to let me know privately. You choose to hide behind FFF as a crutch for you to call people out like we're all still in middle school, and quite frankly, it is ridiculous.  I don't care what you think about the way that I express myself and if you were offended, just move right past the post and get on with things. In no way, shape, or form did I use the word in a derogatory manner, and if it came across that way to anyone, I apologize. You don't know my education level, and for you to consistently imply that your level is higher than mine based on the way that I express myself on the internetz, GFY.  Your holier than thou PC police attitude is obnoxious at best.
I'm sure you won't respond since you haven't acknowledged any of my other posts that were aimed in your direction. To which I say, fiddlesticks.

    THIS. everyday!

I flame the person who deemed it necesary to fire up their chainsaw right outside my window at 7:30!!

I also flame the people at Kinko's for not helping us print our envelopes.  They told us no one had ever tried to print on envelopes before us.  I find it hard to believe this is unprecedented.  And then they tell us that the printer will eat our envelopes even though we were standing right there with an envelope that was printed on, just not formatted right.  Ugh!

    Kendall,

No you are not the only one.  I have many closets full of clothes (why I bought the house--closet space) and still have nothing to wear.  It probably has something to do with I don't even know what I have anymore.

Albert has a new rule for me... for everything I buy, I have to take out 2 things of a similar nature.

If I buy a shirt, I have to lose 2 shirts/hoodies.  Pants?  Gotta get rid of 2 jeans or PJ pants, etc.

    Its brutal.

  • edited December 2011
    Kendall,
I am that way for work clothes.  I still have much of my college wardrobe, so even a lot of my nice stuff was cheap when I bought it and is completely worn out by now.  I just can't convince myself that any of the "professional" stuff I see in the stores is worth what it costs.  =(

I am the same way.  I am on a new kick of trying to find things that serve double duty - Professional for work, cute enough to dress down for days/nights out.  It's a challenge when you are plus sized.

Also, professional clothes in general for Plus size blows.  I do not want to wear a shapeless box suit with no character.  And WHY do some of them have shoulder pads?  Do you really want me to look like a linebacker atwork?

And also, being plus sized I don't want to wear tank tops or sleeveless because my arms look like crap! Give me sleeves damnit! I'm still in need of more shirts just so I'm not wearing the same thing every week!

I am definitely in for a shopping GTG.  Dillard's Clearance Center at Irving Mall--quality clothes and they have everything from a petite 0 (bitches) to plus sizes.  Great bargains if you go over a "holiday" weekend.  Perhpas Father's Day?!?!?!?
Talbot's Clearance Center in Lewisville has all sizes too.  A lot of their stuff can be both work and play.  Can never go wrong at a TJ Maxx or Marshalls...I think I may need some retail therapy...

So many of the things that you, N&M, find offensive actually apply to me (do they apply to you?? probably not) and yet I don't get in a hissy fit anytime anyone talks about it. Seriously, get over yourself!!

    Courtney - From the dictionary:

Rape - an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation: the rape of the countryside.

So you were correct in your usage.
