I saw a link for this thread on SB and decided that we needed one of these, too!

Hmmm, Mom is 50, I'm 25.
In October, she had me!
She was 3 weeks past what they told her was her due date. She was watching an Oprah special about an IUD that was pulled off the market for causing infertility. She got pregnant with me while using it. She gave up on BC and got her tubes tied after I was born.
Today, she had a two-month old baby, a 6yo daughter, and was back at her job being a GM at a Pizza Hut. It was a great paying job that she later gave up to be with us.
She had been married for 8 years.
A little before she got pregnant with me, she became the first female member of a non-profit young professional organization that finally went Co-Ed.
(I am now a member of this also.)
her dad was going through kidney failure and dialysis and had only a year to live.
that's all i know! they waited 6 years before having kids, and they don't talk much about their marriage pre-children.
Married Bio
She worked at a bank.
She was married to a man who worked...at a cheese factory (in logistics, but it's still CHEESE!)
She didn't want kids, at all (and didn't have them for another....7 years)
She had been married 7 months.
She was moving to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
She was a special education teacher.
She was trying to get pregnant, and would have 2 miscarriages before she had me.
It sounds really bad when I put it that way haha. Ontario had Grade 13/OAC up until a few years ago and she has a February birthday, so she was 19 and 4 months when she graduated. My birthday is in September and there's no grade 13 so I graduated a year and a half ago . Now that makes me seem really young.
When my mother was my age she...
-February: Got pregnant with me
-April: Married my dad in Kenosha, Wisconsin
-November: Gave birth to me
Wow...she had a very busy and life changing year!
-she had been married to my father for a year
- she was in the process of buying a house
- she was pregnant with my older sister
- she was working as a cake decorator at the family bakery and as a gas station attendant.

She had endured a very long and stressful escape from communist Czechoslovakia (still one country then) and was already living in New York, married to my father and a stay at home mom to a 12 year old and a 4 year old (me!).
I can only assume that when she was my age, she was probably living with my dad and finishing up culinary school. She wouldn't marry him for another two years or have me for another seven years.
How old was your mom when she had you?
Meaning, how old were you 4 years ago?
You said your mom had a 4yo at your age now, if so, bless her heart, that had to have been hard.
-She was doing cross country truck driving with my dad.
-She was taking some college courses in San Diego.
-Her mother was already sick with the cancer that would eventually kill her.
[QUOTE]Bren, I'm being nosey. You can tell me to shut up. How old was your mom when she had you? Meaning, how old were you 4 years ago? You said your mom had a 4yo at your age now, if so, bless her heart, that had to have been hard.

I don't mind. My mom was 16 when she had me. But she moved away when she was 17 (and I was 1) so my grandmother actually raised me after that.

Wow... that had to be challenging on all involved. I'm really glad you had a grandma who was willing to raise you! You seemed to have turned out good, so she did a good job!

My grandparents are both awesome. They love me to pieces and spoil me rotten <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-innocent.gif" border="0" alt="Innocent" title="Innocent" /> but really, they gave me the life my mom never could have. So it's all good! And thank you, Cate! That's a wondeful compliment.
- she hadn't even met my dad yet
-She had been married for 4, almost 5 years.
-Lived in a decent house for the time.
-Worked for a linen store.
Married!
My grandma pulled me aside at my 18th birthday and said, "You beat me! Keep going - you gotta beat your Mom." Meaning my grandma was pregnant at 16 and got married and gave birth before she turned 18.
Guess I've already "beaten" my Mom! Craziness...
She'd been married and divorced
Remarried to my dad for 4 years
Had a 1 year old (me!)
Was a stay at home mom
and living in the town she was born and raised in
