Too late for nighttime chatter?

I have a million and a half things to do for the wedding and beyond and I refuse to do any of it on a Friday night. DISTRACT ME.

Have holiday weekend plans, big or small?

Re: Too late for nighttime chatter?

  • I plan on shortening some pants and ironing.  I lead an exciting life.

  • Hi Snail!

I'm tailgating before the game tomorrow followed by going to the game and then driving to my parents house.  I have a camp reunion on Sunday that I'm looking forward to.
  • Hockey- I don't even own an iron. So you've got me there. I also can't sew. So this weekend, you are being a 100% more successful human being than Snail.

  • My plans involve drinking waaaaay too much with Knotties, so clearly it's going to be an AWESOME weekend.
  • Ohhh, stlrz, I went to camp as a kid; a reunion would be AWESOME. How long has it been since you've seen these people?

FI and I are going to a casino tomorrow and staying overnight. I am redonk excited. We've never taken any sort of trip just the two of us before, and figured we should squeeze something in before the HM. I'm going to get drunk and lose lots of money on penny slots.

  • Muni, is the NC G2G this weekend? Sounds awesome. I bet a roomful of drunk knotties leads to very interesting topics of conversation.
    image
  • But it's FRIDAY, Sparkles! Embrace the procrastination with me!!

  • Hi!  I'm watching Hunger Games.  I finished a puzzle.  I'm doing everything I can to avoid working.

This weekend I plan to relax, go to the gym, sleep, catch up on paperwork, and stock our new freezer.

  • Hi.  Never too late for chatter.  I'm not really planning on leaving the couch until I relocate to the bed.
  • Snail- I just saw them in July at camp.  I volunteer every summer, but I've known most of the other volunteers for going on 20 years.
  • Chrissy is visiting us this weekend, so we're doing lots of GTGing!  It's like a game of how many NC beer places I can fit into one weekend.
  • No plans this weekend other than going to the gym, cleaning and grocery shopping.  I think I win the prize for the most exciting life.  :)
  • Because i lead such an exciting life, I am heading to bed to read before I crash.  I hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Gnight!
  • Yay Hunger Games! I bought the blu-ray a couple weeks ago and made FI watch it with me that night. It was one of those stressful movie viewing experiences where you really, REALLY like something you're showing someone and can't stop watching them watch, making sure they understand what's going on, are paying attention, don't miss the good parts, etc. Luckily, he enjoyed it despite my anxiety and pushiness.

Haha!  H went to the midnight showing with me, and now he's asking all the questions he didn't get to ask in the theatre.

  • Hi!  We went out for burgers and shakes, and now H is watching the baseball game on TV, while the kittens and I cuddle.
  • I read the Hunger Games triology, but I just can't make myself watch the movie.  There's just something disturbing about the concept to me, kids killing kids.  I know it's fantasy, but it bugs me working in a school.
  • I had a couple gripes with the movie version, but as far as book to movie titles go, it's really fairly good.

Yeah, it's definitely a disturbing concept.  Luckily, most of it is done fairly tastefully, and with the age of most of the actors, it's easy to forget that it's kids killing kids.    At least, it was for me.

  • Yeah, some parts were really hard to follow for my H because of that, Sparkly (he didn't read them).  But if you've read the books, it's no problem.

  • I was pretty pleased with the film vs book of HG, and I had just finished the books a couple weeks before I saw the movie. There were a couple things that I didn't like (like completely cutting out Madge) but in general, I understood why things had to be cut or changed.

YES.  And the stylists.  And the way they did the mockingjay pin.  All those things are sort of important.  And one more thing, which I won't say because it's hard to not say it without it being a total spoiler, but it's HUGE and it makes a HUGE difference later, and I'm so curious how they're going to get around it.

The mockingjay pin, the lack of personality development of the stylists, and the lack of avoxes really made me sad. I bet those 3 things would've added like an additional 45 minutes to the run time, though. I'm really, really curious what your one huge thing is; I can't think of anything huge just now.

</div><div>I just ordered my brother's Christmas presents.  And something for H too.  Without leaving the couch :).  </div>
  • Anyone see One for the Money?  I heard the other day they're making a movie of the second book.  I love that series by Janet Evanovich.  I wish the actors they chose were a little better though, like if Betty White was grandma Mazur.

  • I want a TV that regulates volume for me.  I hate having to turn movies up during dialogue and down during action scenes or musical interludes.
