Good morning ladies!  We bought a new dining room table yesterday, FINALLY, and now just need to find chairs.  We also discussed how much shiit we're going to throw away and how we're rearranging for maximum space for the baby!  I'm pretty excited :)

Oh, I would so bring stuff for a knottie group garage sale, and any knotties that wanted free stuff I'd be more than happy to give stuff to.  I have old (but still relatively new) pans that I want to get rid of because they don't match, a coffee maker, a toaster oven, etc etc.  I was just going to sell them on CL but would glady sit around on a Sat morning w/ some knotties and get rid of them that way!

I live in a duplex in the North Side, so a garage sale at my place probably won't work, there's no flat grassy space (except across the street where the dogs poop).  Who lives in a neighborhood?  Sara?

Good morning!Super busy yesterday and today and tomorrow! Yesterday, I drove around tons of my resumes all day and got an interview for an 8 week job tomorrow. :) It is only for a short maternity leave, and that bums me out, because I will have to start the job search all over in 2 months, but hey, it's something.Today is DH's birthday, so I made a card and have to go pick up his cake later today after going out with a friend for lunch/movies.I know I have to email the PGH skyline to one of you girls; I will get on that later today. And I have a craft project to finish, with a self-imposed deadline of today as well! :)

I do live in a neighborhood- kinda...Only, my house is not visible from the road- although it is right by the road- but I'm thinking lots of signs will do the trick.  I'm almost definetly having a garage sale(dunno when tho)- so I'll let you ladies know and you can all bring some stuff over.  Sound good...?

Good idea Molly!  Maybe I'll bring some of my clothes that are in a Goodwill bag but are still in good condition (just toooo small), hmmm, the possibilities are endless!  I even have a hanging rack that I could bring for display purposes :)

Good morning!  I love the garage sale idea, I'm definitely in if I am available.  I'm pretty good at throwing things away though so I'm not sure what I'll have to sell.  My mom always has a pile of stuff ready to be sold though.

yay!  I'm so excited! I have a good sized side yard- and a 2 car garage... which means I'll actually have to have it cleaned out... lol- this will give me some motivation to unpack all my stuff!  Start thinking about when the best time to do this will be

I have no Saturday morning plans now that I know of.  If you would be ready in Aug, summer is definitely the best time for garage sales.  Since we're all part of the Pgh Knot, if we call it a "community yard sale" it's not false advertisement, right?

maybe mid to late August- I'll try to get everything cleaned quickly, but I can always push my stuff to the back of the garage.  I can go around and tell me neighbors I'm having a garage sale too so they can join in- that would give me a good excuse to go meet them

I love this garage sale idea! I am bummed though I just brought TONS of clothes to goodwill.  I tried to sell them to avalon first... because I had lots of jeans with tags still on them!  And even a pair from victoria secret... but my booty has a problem with most jeans =(Stupid Avalon didn't want most of my clothes.
  • edited December 2011
Vanessa - Avalon turned down all of my clothes once. I was so embarrassed. It made me feel old. :P

Plato's closet has turned down my clothes before.  It irritated me to no end.  I had brand new Gap jeans (that were frayed on the bottom because that's how they were made) that they wouldn't buy because they were frayed.  They had Faded Glory jeans from Walmart for sale though.  I was PISSED.

Avalon is very hipster-ish. Not sure about Plato's Closet.

Sara, Avalon is a store in Oakland, Sq. Hill, and now Mt. Lebo.  The Oakland store used to sell all new clothes, urban hipster more expensive brands (Triple 5 Soul, Doc Marten, Birkenstock, etc-- very similar to what Karmaloop.com sells).  Now they're a resale shop and they buy clothes like Plato's closet.  I miss the original Avalon, they had some really great stuff there :(

Actually the Oakland store moved to Squirrel Hill... I don't think there was ever two of them.  I just know because I lived in Oakland and moved to Squirrel Hill also. =P

Ohh, I didn't know that the Oakland store closed.  I'm surprised, I would think it'd be great for college kids!
