I'm boycotting. Why do larger women (ie. not models) need a "special" show - it's like saying that only certain people could possibly be attracted to them.
Me. We are resting our brains right now.I have to say, if this was the opposite end of the spectrum--a show where a guy was like "I exclusively date skinny women, they're more fun than big women" he would be flamed by the media beyond belief. It's such a double standard. Yeah, I realize it's the default for most shows, but at least nobody comes right out and says it.I would like to see a dating show with women of all sizes and a guy that was truly open-minded.

I'm kinda with Tide on this one. I can't help but feel that the only reason they created this show because these girls didn't fit the mold for the Bachelor.

im also waiting for after the rosethis show is kind of boycott worthy now that I think about it...it is a lose/lose situationit is saying that is is hard for bigger women to find love so they need their own showand it also puts down "skinny bitches" as being "not real women"...i dunno, they seemed pretty "real" to me on the bachelor, size 2 or notI will watch this first episode to see if it sparks my interest.

I think the existence of the show is like the existence of women's history month- there's a history of non-skinny women being excluded from reality tv. I haven't watched though and I bet it managed to include lots of offensive stuff.

why cant a single show have all sizes, not just a show with just plus sized women. stupid. IMOThere are oh so many reasons, and while i don't agree with them, they exist...Looks and hot bodies get ratings...they do, it is a factMen who have 6 pack abs and are otherwise ripped (like the guys on the bachelor), usually prefer to date women who are also into fitness and keeping in shape (no flames here- i realize bigger women can be healthy/in shape)

I flipped to the show based on this post. The two things that bother me are listing their height and weight and that some of them are in desperate need of stylists. There is no reason why they need to wear the wrong bra or have mushy cleavage, just to have it. I feel like showing up armed with the right bras and style tape.
FI was telling me he heard about a study that was done recently that concluded women over the past few decades have gotten increasingly attractive (I don't know how they measured this) but men have stayed the same. The reason? Men base their choice of mate primarily on looks, but women consider other factors in addition to looks. Supposedly, more attractive women are more likely to have children, thus making future generations more attractive. But the men stay the same. I just laughed at him.
There is no reason why they need to wear the wrong bra or have mushy cleavage, just to have it. I feel like showing up armed with the right bras and style tape.YES YES YES! I totally wanted to say this but didn't want to get flamed, because I'm not allowed to make any comments about weight or looks on this board because i'm superficial and shallow, so thanks for saying it for me!

RE: the studyI totally believe it is true! women have so many more tools, procedures, clothing options etc...these days that it has definitely improved appearances. My hair in HS was NOT GOOD, then flatirons were invented and I haven't looked back since. I can think of so many other examples.I see girls in HS now, and all I think was "I wasn't that pretty in HS"...I see these girls and they dress so nicely, have amazing hair and nice makeup...I don't remember ever looking that good and polished as a teen.

It really ticks me off when overweight women refer to non-overweight women as skinny twigs, and I'm someone who could be on this show. I think it is just as offensive as someone calling me a heifer. While the show has its downfalls, I think giving larger women an opportunity to be on reality TV is cool. The fact that larger women are typically excluded has to do with society as a whole, not just the media.
I don't think you would be flamed for it, it is a style issue, not you making fun of someone. The last segment was scary with the socially inept one that never went on a date. The two on the couch kissing were giving him the death ray. I really want them back on the drunk one.
Putting down skinny women as not being real makes me enraged. If a skinny women attacked a larger one for "not being a real person" they would be burned at the stake. Why is it ok if its the other way around? Give me a f-ing break.

women over the past few decades have gotten increasingly attractiveI've often thought about this for both men and women before hearing this study. Randomly enough, seeing pictures of Abraham Lincoln always sparked these thoughts. He was one seriously unattractive man.
It's just such a gimmick, there's outcry about the lack of "real" women on tv and so they come up with this, which is really just as bad. It's offensive even.
I was a bit agitated when, in the preview, one of the women referred to herself as "normal" and was glad that someone was finally looking for "normal girls".. as if being plus-sized is what makes one normal and everyone else abnormal. Seriously?
That's the thing. Where's the middle ground? Is there going to be a Slightly More to Love in the near future? You're either a 9/10, or a 3/4 for hotness. Where's the 5/6/7's?
