Steelers & Mike Vick??

I heard the tail end of 2 radio stations this morning talking about the Steelers possibly having Mike Vick next year.  Please tell me this can't be true.

I know, I think I would burn everything black and gold I own.  Maybe even DH's Steeler stuff too (although he'd probably kill me).  I didn't catch the whole story, did anybody else hear it?  They were talking about it on 96.1 and I think the other station was 105.9.

The last I heard was that Vick was considering the Steelers and the Patriots because he wanted teams that already had 'big player's on it so he wouldn't have to just carry the team.  And then I heard that he would only be able to play 2 pre-season games and then maybe a game in October or something? Not quite sure what that was about.  I only hear snip-its, too. :(

I really don't see them doing that. They cut that one player 2 years ago (he lived in Wexford) after he and his GF had that fight and she holed up in his house and held the police at bay for hours. I can't remember his name.

I heard that an ESPN announcer had brought up Michael Vick coming to the Steelers because it could turn his career and image around, and that Tomlin said something about him deserving another chance.  However, I never heard actual speculation that the Steelers would take him, nor do I think that they would.  It would be a dumb move on his part because he wouldn't get paid much.  We have big name players who suck up most of the salaries, and Vick wouldn't get any playing time.  Ben will start, and we have him for what, another 6 years?  Logistically, it wouldn't make sense for the Steelers Franchise or for Michael Vick personally to come to the Steelers.  Plus, the Rooneys are pretty crazy when it comes to the image of their players.  I can't see it flying with them.

Cedrick Wilson (domestic violence case)? Nah, I don't think we have anything to worry about.

P.S. if you google Steelers domestic violence, the following names show on the first page & only one of them is gone: Santonio Holmes, Cedrick Wilson, Najeh Davenport, James Harrison. All but Cedrick, I believe, either had charges dropped or were found not guilty. So, since Vick was charged & found guilty, I doubt he would play here. Too much controversy and I don't think Tomlin would take it.

I hope not. I won't watch a single game if they do. There is an interesting book that was out years ago--don't know if there is an updated version--called Pros & Cons. Basically about all the guys playing in the NFL who have been charged with/convicted of crimes of various ranges. Lots of domestic violence/assault/sex assault but also burglary etc.

There are a lot of cons/excons in many of the leagues (not to mention ones that got off after very questionable circumstances), and let's not forget Mike's little bro basically threw away his career when he fired a gun at teenagers in a parking lot (in 2005 maybe?).  I think it's sad when fans stand by them because of what they did on the field and fail to see what scum they were off the field...people seriously have their priorities wrong when it comes to sports figures.
